Seems like California forgot to send the paperwork out - I got a letter from NVC today dated May 21st.
Well, doesn't matter now if I get the NOA2 -- it should be smooth sailing from here on. I followed the Guides from here so am not anticioating any trouble.

I had done a lot of research before selecting which visa to pursue. The K1 should be granted a cpl months quicker than the K3. You can apply for a waiver for her to enter the US pending completion of the K3 app but you are looking at almost the same time as getting the K1 through the US phase.
I live in Florida so had to submit to Texas (even though they are not processing K1 visas right now) and it got shipped off the Califorina - now that was a very sad day since I knew from the timelines here that I got a slow boat to getting approval. Well about 102 days later I got the notice it is at the NVC.
Here is my advice for smooth sailing:
Follow the Forum Guides !! They are wonderful and will eliminate any Requests back to you
Make sure you have the latest forms!! THey have switched expiration dates and you will get kicked back for the wrong form
Assemble a professional package for USCIS --- I used those paper fasteners that have holes punched in the top - it looked like I knew what they wanted and was meticulous in preparing it.
Label all papers in the package (in case one gets lost)
Make 3 copies (original to USCIS, one for you, one for your honey)
If your honey is coming to the US, make sure she carries the package with here and give her your Case # u will get with the NOA1 - there is no question about her going back that way
Tell her to remain calm when talking with the Immigration people, after all she is going to come be with u for a nice time.
Patience Patience Patience -- the toughest thing... USCIS processing times are still royally screwed up by the State Department discontinuing Consular Filings ( we were in the process and had to start over ).
Good luck!

I sent ours out jan 31st to the Texas Service Center. Of course they only accepted delivery at 5 AM the day after it was supposed to be there. The check got cashed and got a NOA1 on the 7th but from California.
Now I got to wait almost 60 days+ instead of 40
.
We were going the DCF route in NZ when the State Dept shut that down. At least the processing on their end got started so we may get a faster turn around.
I hope all the forms are ok

i travelled to the U.S last June and had no problem with that VWP thing. the person just stamped my passport with something that said '90 days, blah blah' and that was that. i never had to apply for anything. he did ask, somewhat jokingly if i was here to get married and i just said no, that i was visiting friends, etc.
im also pretty worried about this.
i think its definitely doable to travel back with my husband after our wedding in a week. and as you said, how would they even know there was a visa application in processing or that you were even married at all?
i have a good mind to throw it all to the wind and when i get to the POE tell them exactly whats happened with our situation, being told a week out from our wedding that i cant move to the U.S with my husband. then tell them all theyre a pack of asses and i wouldnt live in their godamned country if i was paid.
ive got all my stuff packed and now have no job in New Zealand. what nice timing.
*deep breath*
however....my husband is what he is.
we'll deal with that. but in the mean time, id really like to be able to fly back with him and use the flights that have been paid for by his parents for me.
back to the waiting game.
just when you think everything is going well.......
id love to hear from more people who have had no trouble with visiting their husband/fiance while a visa is pending or about to be pending.
and for those who are as upset as me, my dad just made a nice point. ''he hasnt died. and its not as though the Immigration Service has mailed you a letter saying theyre never taking immigrants again and you actually cant go at all. ever.''
thanks dad.
This may not help, but mt finacee and myself are almost in the same boat. Our interview was scheduled for March 27th and we were planning on getting married March 23rd. I'm putting in the I129F package this week and we aren't cancelling anything just yet. We'll give it two weeks. We are distraught also and cursing ourselves for not getting married in November when I went to see her, but we didn't know about the DCF until we stopped by the Consulate when I was leaving to come back to the US

My fiance and I were hoping to go the DCF route in New Zealand. Looks like it will be the K1 route now since it is the fastest way - Both of us are terribly distraught. Thanks for the comfort of you all. It's terrible to be in this position but we have only lost at most 4 weeks.
I just wished I found this board in July when we were trying to figure out what to do. We could have been married in November when I went over to see her
Looks like it will be September now. Maybe the Consulates will process our apps a little faster since the paperwork was almost done

February Filers Goin To NVC
in National Visa Center (Dept of State)

Finally got some activity!! Nothing on the USCIS site, no NOA2, but I got the notice that the I129 was approved and at the NVC on the 21st! It would have been a little bit nice to know on the 18th that it was approved and sent to NVC - we would have been a lot happier instead of getting depressed since it was taking so long
We were one of those folks just getting started on a Consular Filing before Jan 25th. So the Consulate already got some of their job done and my fiance already has her stuff done, so we are hoping for a very speedy completion.
CSC has finally gotten to us February Filers !
