  3. Well we dont have time or money to have her go all over the philippines to get a second copy of police clearances. I really hope only having one original will not be a problem. Plus she needs one from Austia and they told her already it takes 8-10 weeks to get one.

she don't have to get police clearance of every places she lives in the Philippines, an NBI clearance will suffice.

ask her to request 2 copies of police clearance from Austria, one for NVC and the other for her interview, she might be put on AR if she can't present it during the interview

  4. Thanks I called NVC they said everything needs to be original except copy of passport. She stated that the documents will be waiting for here at the embassy when it is sent over. Is this true? She already got the police clearences and only got one from each city. I hope she wont need to bring originals to the interview as she had to fly all over to get these.

i forgot to list a copy of her passport,

yes, the docs will be sent to the embassy,

but during the interview the CO will ask for this original docs,

she only needs an NBI clearance,

she will only need police clearance if she's been out of the country for more than six months since she turns 16 (from that country)

  5. My wife is currently over in the philippines and just finishing up getting her police clearences. My question is when I sumit the ds-230 what do I need to send in with it? I know I have to send in copies of the police clearences and a certified copy of the marriage certificate. What about the birth certificate does that need to be a copy or original. If I send in the original doesnt she need that for the interview? Is there anything I am missing?

    documents I am submitting

    Form ds-230

    Copies of police clearances

    Certified copy of marriage certificate

copy of or certified copy? --Birth certificate

NBI clearance (true copies - indicates for travel to the US)

    NSO copy of Marriage certificate

    NSO copy of Birth Certificate

    DS-230 form

don't send photocopies you might get an RFE,

just asked your wife to request for 2 copies each,

she will also need it for the interview all true copies not photocopy

  6. your fiancee can't leave the Philippines without the CFO sticker.

    Here my question:

In Philippines, it is required for fiancee to attend CFO seminar and get certificate in passport before going to airport to fly?

No where is this a US visa requirement but some say is PI requirement.

If we didnt do seminar, what would happen? Wat would be the issues?

    Thanks a million!

  7. if you want an update about your case from NVC, you should make an inquiry thru e-mail and they will reply after 2-3 days...

everytime you make an inquiry put your case number on the subject line and on your message include the following : Petitioner's name and date of birth, Beneficiary's name and date of birth....

they will just reply to your e-mails....

they will not send you updates on a regular basis if that's what your askin'

  8. try e-mailing them and put your CIS receipt no. on the subject line,

on your message include the following : Petitioner's full name and date of birth, Beneficiary's full name and date of birth,

the automated machine is not updated on a timely manner...

    the e-mail add:

    NVCInquiry@state.gov

    tc,

    frida

  9. Well, unfortunately she doesn't know anyone that works in City Hall. I just need to find out where and when one of these seminars is so we can do it while I'm there.

About the Affidavit for LEgal Capacity to Marry: if we have had no previous marriages/divorces- do we need proof of that or do they just take my word for it when I tell them

if you have proof just bring it with you

I don't know anyone also who works at City Hall, your wife may ask somebody who knows, even the maintenance guy can help.:)

  10. I also wonder who the agent should be. I am new to the forum and I do not know what a USC is.

My fiancé and I will marry in Japan in April. Once I have filed the I-130 for her immigration would it not be best to have me as the agent?

    Thanks!

USC stands for Unite States Citizen, it would be wiser to choose the USC to be the agent.

Choosing an agent is when your I-130 has been forwarded to NVC, after the approval at USCIS

  11. Thank you!!

I am somewhat confused about the order we'll receive things. The Agent of Choice (my USC husband) will receive the DS-230 by the NVC and would have to send it to me to fill it out, right? But, I could also fill it out online, print it, and send it to him, right? Or do I have to keep it? Ahhh, confused :P

your husband as your agent will receive the DS230 forms together with the coversheet and instruction,

you as the beneficiary can now fill-up the DS230 forms online and print it out,

you can gather the other requirements now w/c you need to send together w/ the DS230,

and you will send this to your husband, as for me i send it as soon as the IV bill has been generated

so when the agent received the forms in the mail, he can send it right away..

the coversheet should be needed to sent w/ it

    some generate their own...(james shortcut)

  12. And another question:

Jame's shortcuts (generating the bar code) is in regard to appointing the Agent of Choice, right? So if we email NVC about appointing our Agent of Choice, we don't have to generate the bar code and can pretty much neglect the actual DS-3032, right?

you don't have to generate any barcode for DS-3032...

and yes you can disregard the actual DS3032 if you already e-mailed your choice of agent.

generating barcodes is for the I-864 and DS-230,

but for us we didn't do that, my husband just wait for the mails,

and as for DS230 i fill it up and mailed it to him as soon as the IV bill has been generated,

he will send it to NVC when he got the forms in the mail.

  13. Actually, let me rephrase my question (I couldn't edit the post for some reason):

I have read that most people appoint the USC as the agent because it's faster. However, does the USC then have to mail the documents to the foreign spouse? As in, after my husband (USC) is appointed as the agent and receives mail from NVC, does he have to send it to me to Germany, too? Wouldn't it make more sense in our case then that I am appointed as the agent since mailing between the US and Germany seems to be working well?

    Hi folks,

am I correct in understanding that after the I-130 petition is sent to the NVC we have to appoint an agent to receive further documents? If my husband (the USC) has received all mail until then, who should we appoint as the agent? Would it make more sense to appoint me (the beneficiary) so that I receive all the mail?

    Please clarify. Thank you :)

it's better if the USC will be the Agent...

He doesn't have to mail you any doc's, he'll be paying the bills as your agent..

and also will fill-up I-864 forms

and you as the beneficiary will fill-up the DS-230 w/c can be downloaded on the USCIS site, then you can forward it to him even before it has been generated... together w/ other required docs
