i had my biometrics in Sacramento, CA., is that the same office where i will have my interview? thanks!
-
You don't suppose to have considered the fact that the notice could have generated before your recent walk-in biometrics?
the second ASC appointment notice was generated Oct. 23 the day before i walked in.
-
EAD and AOS tend to have different biometrics, AOS fingerprints all 10 fingers, where EAD tends to do index fingers only. Many who get both appointment letter close together attend the soonest appointment and present both letters and get both biometrics done at same time.
In your case it is best to go to the second one.
do you really think its best to go there again even if both ASC appointment notice have the application numbers for AOS and EAD and were coded 3? I remember from one threading that code 3 means biometrics for AOS and EAD. Also, they got my fingerprints for all 10 fingers not just the index fingers only. Gosh! with my husband working and me not driving until now it drives us crazy trying to fit all my appointments.
-
i got another ASC appointment notice for my AOS and EAD biometrics after i had my biometrics last Oct 24 since i only received my first ASC appointment notice only after the scheduled date. I called 1800 and was told to return the second notice with proof that i had already my biometrics. I made sure everything on the letters were the same applications numbers and my alien registration number. I am just amazed how messed up USCIS could be sometimes.

Acceptance RALEIGH NC 27650 09/18/07 10:10am

Received today, Sept. 29th, two envelopes, NOA for I-765 and NOA for I-131. Both postmarked on Sept. 25th, meaning 5 days from receipt of my file until they posted these NOA's.
Now waiting for I-485 NOA and Biometrics appointment letter.
Check does not show up as having been cashed at my bank yet.
What do you know, check shows up on banks homepage as having been cashed today, Sept. 29th.
One question to all you others out there, are you able to use the Receipt numbers on your NOA's to sign up for status messages on USCIS.gov?
Alright Status Update:
I-485 Noa arrived Monday, October 1st, was postmarked Sept. 25th like the I-131, I-765 that previously arrived.
ASC Biometrics Appointment notice received today, was mailed October 1st.
Biometrics scheduled at CLT on October 27th.
No I'm unable to use any of the three confirmation numbers I have on uscis.gov to sign up for notifications. But at the pace this is going now, I am pretty fine with it. After the biometrics get done on the 27th, it'd be nice to be able to sign up though.
Received Request for Initial Evidence for the I-485:
In order to process your application further, the joint sponsor on Form I-864, Affidavit of Supðport, must submit all supporting tax documentation (W-2s, 1099s, etc) submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the most recent taxt year.
Now my father in law is the joint sponsor and my wife is the primary sponsor, or does she also become a joint one when he was added?
We sent in document for her W2s 1099s etc and 1099s and letter from his employer stating his current salary.
Is the USCIS asking me to resubmit for only my father in law and add his W2s to it or are they also referring to my wife?
i am just wondering your biometric schedule is on a saturday, OCt 27. is that right?

I also missed my biometircs appt for the EXACT same reason as you. My notice got sent back to the USCIS. So what I did was I walked in EARLY on a Saturday where there was no one else there, and they did my biometrics. Took about 10 mins. Try that, and GOOD LUCK!!
thanks a lot. i didnt know they are open on saturday. i guess i will try that.

Several have reported success doing the walk-in. Can't hurt trying
does it really have to be on a wednesday?
-
You need to go to the local service center to make new appointment. I myself just walked in to re-schedule mine. The lady there who I believe she is a supervisor said It is ok even though you missed the biometric, but in that case your case will be delayed. USCIS customer service told me that in some centers they would let you do the fingerprint right away if you walk in (more likely to be on Wednesday which I don't understand why) So to answer your question, it is very practical to walk in and fix your appointment. Good luck.
thanks for your reply. i hope to hear more from those with same experiece.

The same thing happened to us. We received every piece of communication they sent us except for the EAD card. On the envelope, it's addressed "LASTNAME, First Initial". In our mailbox it's "First Initial LASTNAME". For some reason our postman couldn't put two-and-two together and decided that we didn't live there.
We were in a panic, thinking USCIS had messed up our address. We called them at least three times to confirm our address, each time they read it back to us correctly and said they would resend it. A month+ passed and they still hadn't resent it.
In the end, we booked an Infopass appointment and spoke to someone who got in touch with the people who send out the cards directly. They sent it in a brown envelope with his full name and full address on the outside and we finally got it about two months after it had been approved.
my thoughts to you is if they drag this out, definitely get an infopass appointment. They can look up your address and make sure they have it in their system correctly and they're the ones who will get in touch with whomever has your card now to get it to you safely.
thank so much for your reply. i got the notice today and i missed my biometrics schedule which is oct 17. i am really thankful to God that i did not actually wait for so long.

Until now i havent rceived NOA for my AOS, but my EAD was updated on line with the the ff:
Current Status: Notice returned as undeliverable.
On October 8, 2007, the post office returned our last written notice on this case as undeliverable. This can have serious effects on the processing of this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent
That is weird because i got my NOA for EAD using the same addres (PO box). How come another related communication would be returned? anyway,i called USCIS they got my PO BOx add and said they would request for it to be sent back to me within 30-45 days. i wasnt told what the notice was but was given a refeence number. hard but cant do anything... for those with similar experience does it really take that long to re-send?
thank you so much!

Same thing happened to me. They sent back my notices because the mailman couldn't see the name that I put on the inside. I ended up doing a change of address (through my lawyer) who told me it wouldn't have any bad consequences on my application to have the address on file different. Anyway, they haven't resent me the notices, and my lawyer told me that it is because he received the same copies of those notices.
But after the 45 days, if you haven't received those notices, I'll recommend that you call them. I was lucky enough to know what was in the notices (via my lawyer), and it was an RFE. Hope it goes well for ya.
thanks for your reply. its just sad that i am in for a long wait for a notice that i dont even know what it is could be the NOA for AOS or probably my biometrics when September filers are already starting to have their biometrics. well... i guess, i just have to accept things as they are at least i am with my husband.

Hi,
My daughters NOA1 was apparently returned to them as I hadnt put our names at the back of our mailbox and she has
a different surname. I called and was told it would be resent on one occasion, but when it didnt arrive, I called again and was told that it wouldnt be sent at all. They said it wasnt necessary and just gave me the case number over the phone.
1 week later, it arrived????
This set alarm bells ringing, with me thinking that perhaps it had been her biometrics appointment letter, as it hadnt come yet and mine had.
I called again and they put in a service request for a new appointment, and so we wait.
It is very unnerving as I now worry that I could not receive a RFE, or something equally as important.
Still, all you can do is wait, All the best!
x
hi chloe
thanks for your reply. yes, indeed it is very unnerving!
i was just wondering the first time you called did they tell you how long would it take to re-send the notice? do i have to wait for that long before i could follow up? the representatives are not really nice. it took me 4 calls and 4 different people before they finaliy transferred me to an Immigration Officer who assisted me again (going all over the case) and gave me a reference number but before that i was able to talk with a representative and said the request would be made. it seems to me that despite some calls they dont really make necessary updates.

The California DMV website sates that for birth date verification and legal presence requirements this document is acceptable " Notice of Action (I-797 Approved Petition) ".
I already received NOA for the EAD and I noticed the form is called "I-797CNotice of Action" is this the same document referred above?
or i really have to wait for the Employment authorization or permanent residence card?

For California - here is what you need as K-visa immigrant:
State law requires every applicant for an original California identification (ID) card and driver license to show verification of birth date and proof of legal presence within the United States to help safeguard the accuracy and integrity of departmental documents.
If your current name no longer matches the name on your birth date/legal presence document, see "True Full Name" and "How to Change Your Name" for more information.
Only the original or a certified copy of one of the following documents is acceptable:
Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
Permanent Resident Card
Valid foreign passport with a valid Record of Arrival/Departure (form I-94)
Employment Authorization Card
Permanent Resident Re-entry Permit
"Processed for I-551" stamped in a valid foreign passport
Valid I-94 with attached photo stamped "Processed for I-551 temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence"
Notice of Action (I-797 Approved Petition) Not NOA proving you have sent it off to be processed!!
Limited Term Legal Presence
All original and pending driver license or identification cards will expire on the expiration date of his/her birth date/legal presence document (BD/LP) issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Your BD/LP document must have an expiration date 30 or more days from your application date. If your BD/LP document has an expiration date less than 30 days, you will not be able to start a driver license or identification card application.
If your BD/LP document has an expiration date of less than 60 days, you may complete your licensing requirements (written/vision/driving tests), but you will need to submit another BD/LP document with an expiration date of 60 days or more before your driver license or identification card is mailed to you.
Before your limited term driver license expires, the department will mail out an “extension” letter with instructions on how to complete your application for a driver license.
so that means the NOA for the AOS and EAD could not be used to secure a driver's licenese here in CA. we really have to wait for the employment authorization card or permaent resident card.

is there a link where i could read more about what an infopass appointment is?
is this applicable to someone who hasnt received his/her NOA yet? in my case i already received my NOA for my EAD and AP but without the NOA for AOS and i even have an undelivered notice on my case online for my EAD when in fact i received the EAD NOA using the same address. every representative at USCIS tells me different things and i am realy worried.
-
i have been worried about the delay on my NOA for my AOS since i got the notices for EAD and AP sept 29. just this morning my status online for my EAD was updated with this note
Current Status: Notice returned as undeliverable.
On October 8, 2007, the post office returned our last written notice on this case as undeliverable. This can have serious effects on the processing of this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent.
i called USCIS they got my PO BOx add and would just request for it to be sent back to me within 30days. The representative couldnt tell me what the notice is. After that i went thru my files and discovered to my dismay i comitted an error on my AOS application by putting our physical address and not the PO Box like i did for the EAD and AP. Now i feel so stupid when i had reviewed the package over and over again before it was filed and now i know it will cause me problems. I called
USCIS again and this time the representative said i will have to wait for 90days for me to change that address on AOS.
I feel so helpless and i need input from you guys.
thank you so much.[/b
above is the reason why i haven't receive the NOA for my AOS. i am depressed...

Haole,
I am interested to know your time line and see how the error affected your application. so that means that changing it tru the phone is enough. i am just worried, seems like each USCIS customer representative have different things to say. so i am a bit confused now as to the best option to take.

Do you have your name on your mailbox??? if not then this is why the letter has been returned to USCIS.... you need to put your name on your mailbox and then make an infopass appointment at your local office and get then to re-send the letter... there is no point tying to call the 1-800 as they can only send a request to the service center and they will tell you to wait 30 days before calling again.... infopass is the way to go...
Kez
our house is off the public road so we dont have a mailbox, all our mails should go tru our PO Box . how do i go about with the infopass appointment? where could i find details on this? thank u so much.

My citizenship interview is tom, I was just wondering if I need to bring additional copies of the passport style photos for the interview?
Thanks!
