Just wondering if anyone have filed H1B while waiting for a waiver (from 2 years residency requirement for J1 visa). I have filled mine in May and they sent a request to provide visa waiver. I have received the letter from DOS on June 27th. Can I use that or should I wait for the final approval from USCIS? What is the timeline anyway? It says 1.5-6 months on the website but after reading the posts here, some are faster than others (a week) and some more than 6 months.
I am nervous as my tenure-track position will start in the third week of Aug. Will I have it in time? Any advice?? Help!
