  1. My wife got a RFE on her AOS saying we did not supply them with the I-693a or ds-3024/3025/3026. So our next step is to obtain them.

    She had a medical exam in Hong Kong right before coming to the US, and was given the results in a sealed envelope. We handed it in at the POE.

    She also has a vaccination record at her parents house in Hong Kong.

    So what do you think our next step should be? Contact the doctor in Hong Kong for another record? Or get that vaccination record from her parents and go to our local civil surgeon and transfer it to a I-693a?

    I am just a little bit confused on what to do next. :wacko::blink:

    Thanks for everyone’s help! :thumbs:

  2. Getting my fiancé a SSN is getting very frustrating! :angry:

    Ok, I'll tell you what has happened so far.

    First trip, We go on a 30-40 min. trip to St. Paul MN to the "local" SSA. Get lost on the way. :dance: Circle around for a while just to find a place to park. And then finally get to the office, take a number, wait, and now we get to talk to a person. We show her the Hong Kong passport, I-94, SSN application, and what we thought was our wedding certificate. Turns out those were not certified ones and only just copies. She tells us to go to another building a few blocks away to get certified ones.

    We go where she tells us, after getting lost again and then not being able to find the right building. We take another number and wait some more. Now its our turn to talk to the next nice person :whistle: He tells us that since we got married and registered in another county he can't help us and to go to our local county. Well this was not so good so far.

    We drive back to the local marriage office and ask for our certified copies and she tells us they just mailed them to us today and it should be there in 1 or 2 days. So now we go home empty handed.

    The next day it came and we went out again to try a second time.

    Second trip, with our new certificate in hand and a smile on our face we try again! Drive for a while, take a number, wait, its our turn! We hand her all the paperwork and documents needed. She stops halfway thru and tells us that because we got married and my wife changed her name from Wing Yan Ding to Julie Yan Barris she cant enter her in the system because the name wouldn't match her I-94 or Hong Kong Passport. She tells us to go to some INS building next to the Mall of America and talk to them... :crying: Yet again another failed trip!

    We come back here to check what other people have done about this only to find that you can get a SSN even if you changed your name!

    So what gives? Can someone answer some questions? :help:

    1. Her I-94 expires on September 6, do we still have time left to get a SSN with it?

    2. Was that lady just very confused that told us the names wouldn't match so she couldn't not do it?

    3. Julie should be using her new legal name for everything from now on? (AOS + EAD)

    4. We should now work on EAD and AOS right?

  3. Hey guys!

    I just received my packet 4, so excited! Only that I didn't know I have to call to book an appointment for interview, I thought they just assigned for me.

    Also that I don't think I need to fill in DS-230 part 2, I don't know why, it is not included in the packet and there is no mention of it at all.

    Anything like this happen to you?

  4. Item 11 on the I-134 asks if I "intend" or "do not intend" to "make specific contributions to the support" of my fiancee. I figure that because she will be my wife I will support her for whatever is needed, as most married folks do. If she lives with me am I "furnishing room and board"?

    Intend or do not intend, that is the question...

    Anyone have any recommendations as to what I can write in this section?

    For a I-129F K1 Visa for fiance you can just put N/A because you are in the process of wanting to marry your fiance. You can just put N/A which is in the intructions of the I-134.

    Which part on the instruction showed that we can just put NA?

  5. Hey guys,

    I've been filling all the forms I need to send back to my consulate. So here is my question:

    Can I "type and print" my answers on the forms? I forgot to fill in some part of it on DS-230, so I'm wondering if I could write rest of my answers directly on the forms since my home doesn't own a printer and it's extremely annoying to ask for someone to print them out for me since I work.

    Please do help! :help:

  6. Hey guys,

    We are working on the I-134 form right now, just wondering if Sam needs to go to the USCIS or embessy in the states to swear in front of a officer for sumitting the form? Please help!

    Is it necessary to do that as long as he needs to fill in the form? What if his daddy is our main spousor, does Sam still need to be sworn before an officer to make it work?

    :help:

  7. We waited to mail packet 3 until after 1 week after my fiancee completed her medical and police reports. At that point she already had the I-134. It took two weeks for her to get packet 4. The consulate called her the day they mailed it to her and it took 3 days to arrive. Since you are instructed to schedule the interview in the month following the month printed on the top of packet 4, it probably would have been wiser for us to send packet 3 back the day of her medical and police interviews as we would have had the K-1 interview in February instead of March. Also, my fiancee bought the $100 hello phone card to call for her interview date. She used exactly 10 minutes. Although it costs more money I would recommend spending a little extra on the phone card if you require it because its better to have a little too much time than too little time.

    If you haven't already sent in packet 3 and you anticipate that you will have all your materials before March, I would highly recommend sending it in as soon as possible in order to obtain a March interview date rather than an April one. On the other hand if you aren't planning to come to the US for a while you can always wait until everything is in order.

    Good luck with the rest of process,

    Charles

    I wonder how long it took for you to get the I-134 done and all the other evidence, and finally mailed them to her? Coz the problem is I still don't have it from Sam or his dad who are my spousors, so you think I should wait until I get them first, then send in packet 3 later on?

  8. Hey guys, I need some help with the I-134 form, I just wonder if these are all that we need as evidence:

    Notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;

    A statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;

    A statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened, and the present balance;

    Any other evidence adequate to establish financial ability to carry out his or her undertaking toward the applicant for what might be an indefinite period of time.

    Information regarding his or her annual income;

    Where material, information regarding his or her other resources;

    Other obligations and expenses;

    Plans and arrangements made for the applicant's reception and support;

    An expression of willingness to deposit a bond, if necessary, with the Immigration and Naturalization Service to guarantee that the applicant will not become a public charge in the United States; and

    An acknowledgement that the sponsor is aware of his or her responsibilities under the Social Security Act, as amended, and the Food Stamp Act, as amended; that the affidavit will be binding upon to sponsor for three (3) years after entry of the named persons; and that the affidavit and supporting documentation may be made available to a public assistance agency. (The provisions of the above laws are contained in form DS-1858, Sponsor's Financial Responsibility Under the Social Security Act, and printed in Part III of the instructions for Form I-134). <<<<<<<<<------ (Do Sam and his daddy need to write a statement about this part?)

    The sponsor must submit, in duplicate, evidence of income and resources, as appropriate.

    Are these 2 the main things that we need(would it be enough if I use them as proof that I won't be a public charge):

    A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution in which you have deposits giving the following details regarding your account:

    date account opened

    total amount deposited for the past year

    present balance

    B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, showing:

    date and nature of employment

    salary paid

    whether position is temporary or permanent

    Thanks a lot!!
