  1. Howdy

i have a tourist visa for Brazil that’s still valid for a few years but got married and recently changed my last name and got a new passport so my tourist visa also has my old last name. If I brought both passports and my marriage certificate to travel to Brazil, will they take my tourist visa still or do I also need to reapply for a new one?
    thanks !

  2. My fiance has finally come to the states and in order to get married we both need SSN as you know. I met my fiance in 2014 when he was here in the states on a student visa and he applied and got a SSN at that time and it states  "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION"

my question is if this SSN he has is valid or if we must apply for a new SSN for him in order to get married?

    thank you

also i apologize if the topic is in the wrong forum area.

  3. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if the government shutdown is affecting the visa process? We got our approval on the 18th of December and I called the NVC to see if they have received my file and they said they haven’t. Comparing with other timelines it seemed to have taken about 2 weeks to get a case file but we are already almost 3 weeks in without any case number. Any consolation or advice would be appreciated!

You will need to have your parent file their own I-134. Later on, before your fiance can even get EAD (employment authorization) they will need to do I-864 which is a legally binding document. See I-134 instructions here. https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-134instr.pdf

Thank you for your response! Will I need to fill out my own  . I-864 too? And how do we indicate the I-134 is a co-sponsor?

  5. Currently still waiting for NOA2 but we are expecting some kind of news within the next week or so!! With that, i have been getting very anxious and nervous about the next steps and looking at the Affidavit of support form. I am in the states and my fiancé will be coming here from Brazil. We are young and waiting to be together to start our life, so I am still living with my parents and we will be living with my parents whenever my fiancé arrives until we get his work visa and such. I don't own any property and my annual income is barely 20,000$. I am wondering if this is an issue if we will be relying on a lot of my parents support? or is there anywhere on the affidavit of support form I should put my parents information? Such as the real estate part.........please help/advise!! thank you
