  1. Ok, we had our interview and all went well, we're just waiting for her green card to come (it was on 11-01). To refresh the subject, Betty came here on a tourist visa and we married on her second trip back (the very last day of her I-94).

The interviewer was a young (to me-haha) man, very nice. Asked a few stock questions like why did you marry him

(love of course), have you met his family (yes) and do you live together. Of course we took our photo album (huge).

I know other people have all kinds of horror stories but his areas of concern boiled down to two: can you prove you

co-habitate together (we had a copy of our lease, this was exactly what he was looking for and gave him much relief) and do you have pictures of both of you with family members and best friends; lots of pics of the marriage were a big plus. Strangley her employment card came a few weeks before our interview in her married name; he took it back saying her green card would cover this. Also, he said her card would be in her Maiden name (not sure why but we're too happy right now to fight it). Also, when I asked about early parole he said she could travel immediatly with the green card (stamped her passport with a temporary 30 day pass). So all in all we're pretty lucky; to all of the rest of you keep trying and best of luck (it really does come down to that in the end).

    Love to all-Jim and Betty

  3. Ok everybody, much thanks for the good information; my gut feel was 3 seperate checks and most seem to agree; also, since I am the sponsor we only need two G325A's, me and my wife (unless I'm missing something). And yes, we need the I130 as stated below, thanks to an earlier post we did and received a lot of good advice. Honestly, I don't know where we would be withour all of our friends here; we can't believe we're actually going to get this sucker in the mail this week-hooray!!! Now I can post a timeline that actually means something.

    Love 'ya all-JimandBetty

Do you mean the I-131 application for travel document??

No they mean I-130. I-130 is needed if you're filing from a tourist visa. In any case AP might not be a good idea if they're filing from a tourist visa, so I wouldn't recommending it unless I knew a lot more about the OP's case.

To the OP: You need 3 G325A's. For the I-130: One for the sponsor and one for the benefitiary, and for the I-485: One for the benefitiary. Don't "rationalise" the requirements by assuming you can combine requirements for individual forms.

  4. Hi everybody-well, we're finally getting things together and have just a few questions. We are filing for: I485, I864, I765, G325AJ (for both of us) & I130. These forms take three checks; do I write 3 seperate checks or one? On the subject of translations, what is required where it says: "...and by the translator's certification that he or she is compentent to translate the foreigh language into English"? Is some kind of documantation required here beyond the notary stamp? And by the way, we married on a tourist visa and yes, we know we could be questioned closely about this but it was spur of the moment, not planned. Thanks for all the help.

  5. Ok everybody-many many thanks for all of your replies, we know everyone is trying to help eachother and we got a lot of very good information. Yu, sorry for not mentioning the B1 thing, you had no way to know, my bad. We are aware of the sealed envelope and have a list of Civil Surgons in our area. Betty has many other friends here from Indonesia and not all of them have been through this, we're just a little (haha-a lot) nervous, but we're going for it before the prices go up. Good luck to all-JimandBetty

Hi folks-we have stared filing out the forms we think we need. Betty came here on an I-94, we married just as it expired in Dec, 06. Here are the forms I am planning to file. Since we live in San Diego I'm assuming I mail them to the Chicago Lock Box.

    I-485 Adjust status form

    G-325A Biographic Data Sheet

    I-693 Medical exam

    I-804 Affidavit of Support

    I-765 Authorization for Employment

    My questions are:

Do we file the I-693 at the same time as the I-485 or send it later upon request of wait 'til the interview?

Do I really need to fill out the I-804 as her new husband? I don't have any problem with it, just hate the thought of plowing through it (lol).

And yes, we really do want her to work. She needs a normal life.

Thanking all in advance who take the time to help-Jim and Betty

Affidavit of Support form number is I-864, you sure have to fill it.

You get I-693 from your civil surgeon in sealed envelope before and send this with your AOS.

When you send check, put these fees separated.

EAD is good thing, but we didn't apply. Now we know we did right, because if you get RFE, they stop EAD process for 90 days.

This is how looked our package:

    - Payment in the amount of $ 395 ($ 325 I-485 filling fee and $ 70 fingerprint fee)

    - Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

    - Photocopy of petitioner’s passport biographic page

    - Photocopy of petitioner’s US visa

    - Photocopy of form I-797, Notification of action Approval for I-129F

    - Photocopy of petitioner’s I-94 front and back

    - Photocopy of petitioner’s birth certificate original

    - Photocopy of petitioner’s birth certificate notarized translation

    - Certified copy of marriage certificate

    - Two passport-type photos

    - G-325A Biographic information

    - I-693A immunization form (sealed envelope)

    - I-864 Petitioners Spouses Affidavit of Support

    - Income confirmation from spouse’s employer

    - Federal income tax forms (years 2004, 2005, 2006)

  8. Hi to all-we were just wondering if it's worth the money to use the "green card for $49.95" process that you see advertised here. We're just getting ready to fill in the paperwork ourselves and frankly it's a little imtimidating!! And we worry about making any mistakes. I've called a few lawyers and paralegals and the prices are high. And with the rumored price increase with the INS forms time is of the essance. Any one have experience with these people?

    Thanks to all who help-J&B

  9. Thanks; that is a big help. And No, we didn't bring her here with the intention of marrying. We thought we'd send her home again (Indonesia) and file for a K visa but so many people here in our situation once just said "go ahead and marry and it will be ok" so we took the chance. We've known eachother for 2 1/2 years and I've been there several times (with the pics and receipts to prove it-haha). Just getting a little antsy about filing is all, don't want to screw it up.

    jimandbetty,

You need an I-130 as well, you do not need an I-804. The I-765 is optional, not required.

We were just married in Dec on her tourist visa (I94), her second visit and we're anxious to start the green card process.

I understand we need to file these forms: I485, G325A, I693, I804 and I765. We also know that fees are increasing starting in/on May 15. The question is do we need to schedule an interview (using INFOPASS) of do we just fill in the forms and mail them as per the instructions? We're in San Diego. Thanks to all who try to help us.
