  1. Didn't know where else to put this..?

Ok, so the last time my wife visited me in England (before we applied for K-1), the immigration officer told her that she had to have a visitors visa the next time she came, because they weren't going to let her in the country because she had exceeded the 6months stay in any 12 months (we thought it was 6months max. at any one time).

Anyways, we're planning to visit the UK together around March/April. And we have a few questions:

Where do we apply for a UK Visitors Visa for my wife?

    How much is it?

How long does it take to process?

Sidenote: Can anyone tell me which travel site has that feature where they'll email you when your flight comes below a certain price?

    Thanks all.

  2. It's a bit strange. It's a Permanent Resident card, and I've been approved and welcomed to the US. But what I don't understand is I paid $180 for EAD whilst my Green Card is pending - only to receive my Green Card before the EAD?? Also, I didn't have an interview for AoS. I had my biometrics taken in July and didn't really hear much since. Got a lot of status emails from USCIS, and then my AP, followed by my Green Card.

    So-

Why was I not interviewed? (Not that I'm complaining, really..)

Do I still have to apply to lift the conditions even though it says 'Permanent Resident' on my card? How do I do this?

When do I get that stamp in my passport?

    Just a bit confused.. Thanks.

  3. Thank you Yodrak! I just want to make sure I understand, sorry if this is written somewhere and I don't see it. How do I know if I need to fill out either the I-134 or the I-864? Will it be in the instructions sent to us in the future, or will we not know until the interview? Is it smart to have both filled out? Thank you so much for the help and info.

The I-134 is required for the K-1 visa. I-864 is for the AOS (once you're married).

  4. I just received mine in the post - I think.

It's just one page saying there is no information held about me, but if I requested any categories not shown above (which is Prosecution/Conviction, I think) then GMP will send me a separate reply.

Is this my certificate I need for the interview?

  5. We're having a bit of trouble with this, as well.

My fiancée lives with her parents and was thinking about the co-sponsor with them. But if the household size refers to just myself and her, surely she need be my only sponsor? PS What is the current 125% poverty guideline?

It depends on the size of the household:

    2006 Poverty Guidelines

Are you talking about the I-134? Because if you are, you only need 100% for that. The I-864 which comes later will need 125%.

Oh, well that's a new one - I was thinking it was 125% I guess it's better safe than sorry, though.

Yeah, I'm referring to the I-134. So if my fiancee is earning over the guideline, does she need at least 2 peices of evidence, still? Thing is, she doesn't have 3 years' worth of ax returns. She only started her job around October 06 and is now earning over the guidelines. However, before that, she didn't. Last year she had 3 jobs and her last tax return is below the guidelines. In this case, would we need a co-sponsor?

    Thanks

  6. For example, for the DS-156 they want 2 copies. Does that mean 1 signed original and 1 photocopy of the signed original, or does that mean two signed originals?

For the letter of employment its a similar problem. This needs to be "in duplicate", so is this two signed and notarized originals, or 1 signed and notarized original plus a copy of the signed and notarized original?

For my DS-156 and duplicate I sent one original with an original photo attached to it and then photocopied it and sent that. The photo was photocopied too and I've had my interview date given to me so I presume it was all okay.

I just printed out two copies (with the barcode) with two original photos. DS-156 is not to be signed when returning the copies.

  7. We all understand the stress indeed.

Touch means when your case has been looked at, but not been updated as such. You can check the status online when you get your case number from USCIS.

NOA1 is the notice you receive when the service center receives your petition. And NOA2 is the notice you receive when your petition has been approved :)

  8. Ok enough bashing. In answer to your question, Weezer, you do not need evidence of buying an engagement ring. Nor will it cause any problems if you have no intention of buying one. If this crops up, you can merely explain your reasoning. Just make sure you have enough evidence of your relationship - if you're comfortable that what you have will convince the officer, then it might be enough. Double it to make sure :)

  9. Packet 3 tells you to organise your medical, Phil. You can do that as soon as you receive Packet 3. I'm going to try get that done next week. Sending my forms back tomorrow. Still waiting on my Police Certificate - needed for the interview.

Phil, you need to send your completed checklist off to them to let them know you're ready for your interview. Once they receive this back, they will notify you with your interview date !

Anything is possible, but you'll be lucky to get in USA by mid-March, I reckon. Good luck, though.

  10. Did you send your checklist off, or just the forms? I think you're supposed to send both off until you hear back from them..? I'm still in the process of collecting info and filling in forms. When they say send them back immediately or process will be delayed - how long do they expect us to take? How long can it be delayed by?

How long did after you received packet 3 did you return yours, Phil?

  11. Congrats on receiving Packet 3! Once your petition left the SC, USCIS won't have any information for you, so don't bother with them any more.

The petition is sent to the embassy, but you should have a copy of your entire I-129F petition, including ALL originals.

I believe the I-134 must be notarized, so I would bring the original of that as well.

Take the passport photos with you to the interview.

    Good luck!

Apparantly we do not have the originals of the petition - the originals were submitted.. Is this a big problem??

Should the I-134 have been submitted initially or just take with me to interview? I'm really confused.

Please answer above questions if you can help.

  12. Thanks for all your input.

I've managed to get my 2x2" photos (I got six for £4.99 from Klick). I'm going to send two off with the DS-156 forms and take the rest with me to the interview, just in case.

On the guide in Packet 3 it says not to sign the DS-156 ("Please complete but do NOT sign the form"). I presume this is because I will need to sign it at the interview in front of the officer? Do I need to date it, or not? Also, do I date and sign the other forms (DS-230 Part 1, DS-156K and DS-157)? As it does not mention either way.

    Appreciate all your comments.

  13. My fiancee, Tera, has tried several times to ask USCIS for information and every time she is told something different - they don't even know their own procedures. Now we turn to the good people of VJ in a bid to settle our concerns - who better to ask than people going through - or have been through - the same process, right?!

    Few questions:

Is the original petition sent to the US Embassy, or will I need a copy for the interview?

Submitted petition in September, including Affidavit of Support forms. Will I need new - updated - Affidavit forms or copies of the original Affidavit?

Is the Affidavit form valid for six months?

It asks for 50mm x 50mm photos with the DS-156 forms (two copies). Are standad passport photos Ok for this? And are they sent with the forms, or just taken with me to the interview?

    Thanks all!
