  1. My wife and I got here NY a couple of days ago. The POE was simple except the very first officer we went to was new and was a bit nervous and after trying for ten minutes or so sent us to the back room where my wife and I set nervously for about 15 minutes before a man handed over our paper work and asked us to go to the final stop where two nice ladies took my finger prints and offered welcome greetings. I went the same afternoon to the Social Security office where they told me that I will get my new SS card in a week or so.

I might have to leave the country and go back to work before even I receive my Green Card in the mail (the immigration officers told me that it should be ok), any comments, suggestions or experiences in that regard, please?

Thanks everyone and Good luck to all of you!

I wouldn't suggest you to leave US without your PR Card in your hand, as you know the position of the country. The immigration officers might try to give you hard time on the way back here so, wait for a month and then you should be ok.

  2. Hello all!

My brother wants to change the name of his kids before he apply for their citizenship. Both kids are under 18. He wants to remove the third name from his son, my brother wants to change his daughter's last name to his last family name as well instead his first name as her last name.

    Please advise with your suggestions.

    Thanks

  3. I got here in the US on IR-1 through PIA and brought 5 peices no customs at Karachi or in the US, I just paid for the extra pieces.

She needs to fill out I-94,customs card and her sealed visa packet for the immigration officer at the port of entry.

I was interviewed at the airport even though I have been married for over 6 years and have a 5 years old daughter in the US.

By the way I forgot my X-Ray in Pak but they didn't ask for it, took 10 minutes for the entire process besides the 3 hours wait to reach the counter.

  4. Hello all!

I enetered in the US on August 11th on IR-1 visa, I applied for the social security card on the 13th and now just waiting on it. I need to go back to my home country in emergency for 2 weeks in the second week of September. I have not received my green card or social security card yet. The officer simply stamped my passport. How long does it takes to receive the green card in the mail or can I travel back with my I-551 stamp on the passport.

    Thanks...

  5. I finally bought the ticket for 61,000 and its confirmed by PIA. I would like ask a quick question here that I also received a brown envelope with my passport which is sealed but on top of that it has a sheet attached with my picture and all of my biographic details. In that sheet they put my previous US address where I use to live 6 years ago as my final address in the US, now no one lives there what should I do to change that coz I think they will mail my 10years G.C at that address. Can I change that address at the port of entry by explaining the situation or not?

    Thanks!!!!

  6. Thanks and GOD bless you all.

I went to the travel agency and these people are ufffffffff they are giving me the price for one way ticket for PIA 61,500($1,000).

I don't wanna take any other airline coz I heard that at Dubai or in London they give you hard time at the immigration counter when you proceed towards US flight.

What date are you looking for and which Airport do you plan on having as your POE

    Hi Khurram!

I am planning to leave sometimes after 9th and looking at Chicago, O'Hare airport which is closer to my town.

  7. Hi!

I was interviewed in April 2005 for the first time for my IR-1 visa, I submitted my medical and police reports. The officer asked me few question and determine that I need to submit the I-601 waiver and being put on administrative review for the first time. I went back to the embassy in May with my USC wife and submitted the I-601 with the fingerprints, I was called again in July 2005 just to submit the tax papers from my sponsors.

Last year in the first week of May I received a letter from the embassy to come for the third interview since my I-601 was approved and I received the approval letter from Rome, Italy. I went to the embassy with new medical and police reports, the officer asked few questions and said "Congratulations and Welcome to USA" then I was asked to submit my passport and handed a purple IV token to receive the visa via courier service within 6-8 weeks.

May 2007, I received a phone call from the embassy saying that, my security clearance has been completed and I need to send the tax papers from my Co-sponsor and they are ready to issue the visa. I contact my brother in law to send his tax papers so I can forward it to the embassy, he sent everything out to me within 3 days. I sent everything to the embassy by the end of May and waited and waited. After a week I received a letter from the embassy saying that my co-sponsor's income is insufficient and I need to send another I-864 from someone who is eligible. I contacted my lawyer and he argue with the embassy that my Co-sponsor has no dependents at all and he owns various business with the income of $36,000, I received another fedex from my brother in law including the new forms and the assets which was more than 5 times than the poverty level, I sent everything out including my new medical and police reports again since they were going to expire soon. I received another letter stating the same thing to send someone's else who qualifies to be a co-sponsor. First week of July I sent the new I-864 from my older brother($38,000 income) no dependents along with the W2's, copy of his passport and his tax returns. Last week I received another letter from the embassy saying that they need the I-864A and the proof of USC from my brother's wife. Total income from both of 'em is $55,000 with no dependents.

Yesterday I went to the courier service and sent everything out to the embassy, I asked the courier person when these papers will be there he tomm morning.

I hope and pray for all of us to reunite with their families once again for good.

  9. Hello Everyone!

Guys I need some advice from all of you, please let me know with your feedbacks as soon as possible.

In the mid of last month I recieved a phone call from the Islamabad embassy and the person asked me to send my Co-sponsor's 2006 tax transcript in order to issue my visa and warned me that I have to leave Pakistan before the mid of June since my medical will be expiring soon and they can put me back on administrative processing of which I am just cleared nearly after 1 year twice.

I contacted my brother-in-law who is also my Co-sponsor to send me his tax transcript, later on he said that his transcript is unavailable, he said that he called the IRS and they said that they are processing the RETURNS first so for that he sent the notarized letter stating that the transcript is unavailable at this time.

In the first week of June I received a letter from the embassy stating that:Thank you for providing the documents. However, we require a new and qualified co-sponsor for your case (with I-864 form, proof of U.S. citizenship and 2006 tax returns). Co-sponsor 's income is insufficient to support you.

I contacted my lawyer in the US and my Co-sponsor, the lawyer met with my Co-sponsor and discussed over this issue and again they sent me the tax returns copies including the 1099, schedule A thru E, Stocks and shares investment copies, bank statement balance showing over $25,000, His fully paidoff Condo recently appraised for 900,000.

I sent everything in in the second week and today I recieved the same word to word letter from them stating that: Thank you for providing the documents. However, we require a new and qualified co-sponsor for your case (with I-864 form, proof of U.S. citizenship and 2006 tax returns). Co-sponsor 's income is insufficient to support you.

According to my knowledge the 125% poverty line is $17,112 for 2007, please correct me if I am wrong and even if they ask for my USC wife and kid still the poverty line will be $ 25,812 for 4 people and he showed more than $36,000 including his assets and other supporting papers. My wife works and take care of my 5 years old child whom I have not seen for 3 years.

What should I do next? Should I go to the embassy in Islamabad in person and talk to someone there or what to do next? please help. Do you guys think that since I am done with the A/P are they trying to waste the time out and put me back on A/P.

I thank you all of for putting time and attention in this matter.

  10. Hi! I was interviewed at Islamabad, Pakistan last year in May for IR-1 visa, I was approved and congratulated by the officer. I submitted my passport and received pink visa token with the courier address for my city. I was told that I will get my passport back along with the packet within 6-8 weeks.

This is April 2007 and I am still undergoing through necassry administrative processing including the name checks (petitioner, benificiary, co-sponsor) security clearances and other necassary paper work needs to be done by the embassy before they print the visa and sent out on its wayyyyyyy.

It happens with 99.9% of male applicants and even if they receive the clearance from the department of state they can always request another one until they are completely satisfied.

    Take care and good luck.

11 months now on ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING.

  11. Hi!

I have few questions for you guys, please reply.

1:What paper needs to send in along with packet 3.5 to the embassy besides the DS-230 part 1 and 2 through the courier service. The petitioner already submitted the I-864 at NVC for both of his parents along with the $380 visa fee. Do they have to pay anything else when they go for the interview.

My friend's parents received their 2 seperate packets 3.5, my friend filed seperate petitions for each of them. They both wanna go at the same time for the interivew, so what they need to do, should they contact the embassy and request for the same date?

2:Can they apply for a visit visa if they wanna go before they call them for their IR/5 immigrant visa?

    Please reply,

    Thanks

  12. Hi!

My friend's mother want to apply B1/B2 visa, she is been travelling to US on B1/B2 since 1988 and never overstayed. Last time when she was enetered into US in NOV 2000 on a B1/B2 visa she was allowed to stay for 6 months.

She did not left USA till NOV 2001(11months stay), her USC son recently sent her I-134, invitation letter, job letter, US passport copy, bank statement. Her son is planning to change her status once she is in the US to permanent residence. She lost her husband 2 years ago and her only son is settled in the US.

She already submitted her application at the american express courier service and dropped her passport for the interview.

I need some help here what to tell the Consular officer if they ask her why she was overstayed and will she needs a waiver or not? She was overstayed for 5 months basically and that was more than 5 years ago in 2001.

    Thanks in advance.
