Hi everyone 👋
I hope everyone is doing well.
I have my AOS interview coming up at the end of the month . The interview notice States that you should bring a completed medical form if you haven’t already submitted it. I had my medical done in sa in April 2019. I filed my AOS application August 2019. Am I all good for the interview, or do I have to quickly try and have a medical done again before my AoS Interview?
After reading the instructions on the medical form it states that a k1 medical done overseas is valid so long as the AOS application was filed within a year of it being done .
The answer might be straight forward but I think I’m just nervous because it’s march and the interview is being done close to it being a year since my medical.
please can someone shed some light on this for me.
Thank you !

HI everyone 👋
just a quick question. Do I have to have a new updated SA pappsort with my new married surname in by the time the AOS interview happens, or will it be ok if i have applied but still waiting for it?
Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone, just dropping in to catch up... hope you’re all well, has anyone here that’s recently filed for AOS gotten any word from USCIS for their interview (green card)?
Hey there... I submitted my AOS application the first week of August , went for bio and still waiting for interview

still valid for one year although make sure that the box at the bottom of the Ds3025 is marked as completed
So at the bottom under number 2. On the firm ,the box that is marked is the box that states “immigrant visa or parolee applicant completed vaccination requirements”, is this the correct box? Seeing as I was applying for a k1 visa I assumed the “K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requiremts “ would be the box that had to be marked .

Hi guys , hope everyone is well.
With regards to the AOS, do we have to get a new medical done here in the US (because of the medical policy changes for form i-693) or is our medical that was done back home in SA still valid for a year??

Hi there guys
Hope all is well.
I’m busy getting ready to apply for adjustment of status.
With regards to the affidavit of support , my husband earns enough , but Only started work about 1 and a half years ago so he doesn’t have the 3 years worth of tax returns that’s needed . So I was wondering if we would be allowed to use a joint sponsor as back up just in case, or can a joint sponsor only be used when the petionor doesn’t meet the income requirements ?

Congratulations and safe journey!
Can you share how long it took to have visa in hand after your interview? I’m trying to ‘predict’ when my son in law to be will get his, after his interview (assuming approved) May 30.
I also want to encourage everyone to start following the AOS forum on VJ. There’s been some recent unfortunate posts for 2 different reasons:
1. A K-1 spouse from the UK spent 5 weeks in jail for failing to file the I-495 in 90 days. She was in a car accident and presented her expired I-94 in her passport. Since she was out of status she was arrested.
Tip on that: marry, file AOS paperwork well before the 90 days so the average 10 day NOA1 response is received, carry NOA1 receipt number, passport and even marriage certificate when in public.
2. A K-1 spouse from SA missed her AOS interview and received a deportation letter because the letter with the interview date was mailed to the prior address, so never received. The solution to this is much more complicated. Many people complain that moving during immigration presents challenges in receiving mail from UCSIS.
Suggestions are a PO Box with a real street address if you move so mail does not need to forwarded, informed delivery, updating address online and prayer I guess.
Good luck to everyone and pay attention for the next phase!
Hi there
I Had my interview on the 25th of April and had my visa in hand by the 2nd of May.

awesome. No, I have a lot, just so well prepared I do hope they do look at them lol. So happy for you! Happy flying on Monday!!
I know lmao I had a ton of evidence also, but they just went through it quickly. But rather be safe than sorry. Anyways thank you 🙏 and all the best for your interview .

Did they look at photos and chats?
When handing in the evidence she just scanned through everything . Didn’t really sit there and read through chats or anything like that. All she asked for was proof of relationship. The officer that conducted the interview probably looked at them before the interview , I have no idea 🤷🏻♀️ To be honest . But I’d advise you to hand in photos and Chats. Is there something you worried about with regards to your photos and chats ?

Hi! How did your interview go? Is there anything in this list they didn't ask for?? My interview is this Thursday.
Hi there, my visa was approved and an actually leaving for the US on Monday. they took pretty much everything except the medical brown envelope and vaccination sheet I recieved at the medical . But like the above post stated , they probably won’t need or look at everything, but it’s just best to go over prepared and overwhelm them with as much evidence as you can lol. Good luck with your interview!!! 🍀👍🏻

Thank you for the encouragement. He stresses a lot to begin with and with our interview appointment next week , I think his nerves are shot. He said that at the end, the doctor said he looked good to go.
Then all should be fine . Mine is next week Thursday, so I know how he feels lol. Good luck to you guys

Shaun had a very stressful medical exam today in Johannesburg. The doctor asked him lots of questions about alcohol and even told him that he smells like it. He is very upset about it because he hadn’t had anything to drink since a braai on Friday night. He is a social drinker but nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi there I attended my medical in Johannesburg today as well. Doctor seemed fine and medical was over really quickly . If the doctor completed the medical and gave him the all clear, i wouldn’t stress about it. Hope everything works out for you guys 🌸

Thanks, I feared i needed it and i really didn't want to go through this process, but it's all a means to an end! thanks! did any of you apply on your own or through an agent/lawyer?
I applied on my own at home affairs. Was told it would take about 8 weeks . After 4 months of continuous calling and being told there was a problem and it was being escalated , I eventually contacted passport4u. After payment was made, that same day I received an sms from home affairs to collect my certificate. Thought it was a bit odd. So you might want to look into doing it with one of those companies if you are in a rush.

Hello to everyone
with regards to the proof of relationship, the photos/pictures. All of my pictures were taken on my cellphone , would I still need to have them printed out as actual photos or would it be alright to just put all my pictures in a word document and print them out on paper with the date, place etc under the picture?
Thanks in advance 🌸

I brought a lot of additional things but here is my checklist:
-unabridged birth certificate
-2 passport photos
-police clearance
-birth certificate of any children (we have a child together)
2nd pile of paperwork:
i-134 affidavit
-W2 last 3 years
-employment verification letter
-paystub
you will need the same thing if you have a joint sponsor
3rd pile of paperwork
- proof of relationship
-pictures
-flight info
-messages
-letters of support from family
-thank you letter
Hi there, hope you are well.
sorry to worry you. My fiancé and I have a son together who has dual citizenship and has a USA passport so we aren’t applying for a k2 for obvious reasons. I will take his birth certificate and passports to the interview, but was wondering whether it would be compulsory for him to attend the interview with me?

Good evening everyone
I have my medical next week and was told to bring the interview confirmation letter, could someone please tell me which it is? Is it the confirmation email that states the interview date and case number, which I received after making the appointment booking?
-
Hi guys ,Congratulations to those whose interviews have been approved and good luck to those attending theirs soon.
just seeking a little advice here. Do you guys think we should include receipts from monetary transactions?
Just a quick background: my fiancé and I have been together for almost 7 years, 5 and 1/2years of those years were spent practically living together. We have a 3 year old son together. Because I recently graduated he insisted on helping pay off my student loan before I leave as he didn’t want it to be a reason for the visa being rejected ( perhaps it would look like I was trying to evade paying off my loan) and because he didn’t want us to enter into the marriage in debt anyways. Therefore every month he sends money for the loan as well as necessities for our son and I.
Should I bring this up in the interview? Would it work in our favor (evidence of relationship) or against us ? Would it raise any red flags???
thanks in advance and congratulations again to everyone 🌸
