  1. Hello, my wife's Filipino passport is expiring in July and we need to renew it. We plan on traveling to the embassy late next week, and want to make sure we have all of our stuff in order. We hadn't submitted anything about a name change due to our marriage in 2008, and I was wondering if both the marriage reporting form and the passport renewal can both be applied for during one day next week at the Embassy. I think I have the forms and such that we'll need to print out...just need that question answered.

Also, on the passport renewal/name change, since it is expiring soon, do I need to submit a Passport Amendment application or a regular passport application?

  3. I'm currently in Cagayan de Oro for a 1 month vacation. My passport still has my maiden name and we haven't reported yet our marriage (in USA) through the Phil. consulate in WA, DC. I would like to renew my passport to reflect my married name. But before i do that, I do understand I have to report our marriage first. I'm wondering where I can report our marriage here? I really don't have any idea where and how to do that here in Philippines. Is it at DFA? City Hall? Is it advisable that I report the marriage here while I'm on vacation given the time frame I only have? Or should I just do it in USA? I also think it would be cheaper here in Philippines, if it's possible. Thanks!

  4. Hi guys, I am K1 Visa holder,i will be travelling this August going to NC.

1.my mama will make the wedding dress for me (floor length,semi-serpentina, full beaded bodice)

since it wont be that engrande type of dress, my first thought is just put it inside of my checked luggage, is it wise/safe to do it that way?

2.i want to wear veil, just a simple one (yong sa likod lang di naman takip yong mukha)

    - di naman kaya over-dressed ako for a court wedding?

3.i also think of brining with me a year supply of contraceptive pills- ok lang ba yon? di nama kaya maka aberya ako sa custom/immigration? or shall i require a letter from my ob who will prescribe me of these?

    Maraming salamat mga kababayan ko.

Ingat and i hope everyone is having a good day.

I checked in my wedding gown together with my flower girls' dresses. I securely wrapped my gown in a plastic bag and then when I got here, we had it dry cleaned. Anyway, where in NC will you be?

  5. I am trying to book a flight for my wife to the Philippines in September. Her passport still has her maiden name and we probably will not have an opportunity to get it changed before she travels. That said, should I put her maiden name in for the plane ticket or the married last name. I personally think it doesn't matter, so long as there is sufficient evidence of marriage and residence here, ie. Green Card. Please let us know so we can book this ticket as soon as possible. Thanks.

  6. Thanks!

So can I have my passport renewed in Philippines to reflect my new last name? I don't have to do that here in USA? It will be easier for me if it's in Phils. coz we dont have the time (we're in NC) to go to Washington DC and make a personal appearance and have passport renewed. We haven't reported our marriage to Phils. yet

  7. Hello! I'm here in USA and I already have my 2 yr GC. Hubby and I are going to Phils to attend my sister's wedding on October. My mom is here in USA for vacation and will be going home to Phils on Sept.20. Our plan is I will go home to Phils with my mom since I am scared to fly alone LOL and so that I can assist my sister w/ wedding preps as her matron of honor. And hubby will fly later since he can only get 2 weeks off from work and then we come back to USA together after the wedding.

Anyhoo, to make this short, how long can I stay in the Philippines considering my 2 yr GC status? Is it ok that I will be there for a month and a few days? Do I need other docs to bring with me or file some papers before I fly etc? I'm clueless. Also, my passport is the old green one with my former last name. Should I need to have my passport renewed (the brown one) or should my old green passport suffice? It doesn't expire until 2011 as stated in the passport. I want to make sure before we go ahead and buy the tickets tonight.

    Thank you so much.

  8. I like my long hair. I've always received compliments on it; I like having the option to curl it or straighten it or put it up; and, I admit it, my long hair makes me feel feminine and attractive, and my secret?DETOXING!here is how to do it..You can do it yourself at home..

1 teaspoon vitamin C powder (available at any chemist)

    1 teaspoon of cider vinegar

    4oz.of hot water

    Method

    Wash hair with shampoo,rinse well.

Mix all the detoxic ingredients and rinse it through your hair, before applying an organic protein rich conditioner.

Try it girls...very healthy sa buhok:)

How often do you do detoxify your hair? I'm curious! I wana know what the subsitute for vitamin c powder is, pwede bang i-crush na lang ang vitamin c na tablet? hehehehehe

  9. she will be fine..Everything will gonna work alright..

In the interest of saving trees, we only printed select emails from a 2-year period. Since we didn't make many phone calls, I only submitted minimal evidence of that. I didn't even want to think about printing our chats, and none of our chats have ever been printed out. I'm sure you'll be fine so long as there are no difficulties with what has already been submitted, so don't worry.

  10. Hello all,

We have since gotten J's 2-year conditional GC after a short interview in the Durham office. The interview went rather smoothly. He asked mainly for proof of continuing relationship or residency since we had everything else in our initial AOS packet. At the end of the interview, he took and kept J's work authorization card and her 2 AP documents. I didn't feel that was right, but maybe the GC covers both of those needs. Anyway, to the interview itself, he gave many examples of things he would like to see...utility bills, deeds, etc. We haven't had time or the money to get a lawyer to change our deed, so I explained that to him, and he seemed satisfied with that answer. I did manage to get a letter from the utility company indicating that J was on the account. Gave him a history of bank statements, as well, from our two joint bank accounts. The credit card account was recently changed, so we were unable to give him any statements for that. We did show them the debit and credit cards associated with our accounts, though. He asked about the medical exam she had in the Phils, and who the civil surgeon was. Since we used the popular Dr. Arnold, he seemed to not like that for some reason. He asked if we had been to Texas or had a doctor-patient relationship with her. We answered truthfully and told him that she was recommended, and she does it by mail. He asked if this is a paid service, and we answered yes. When asked how much, since we both had forgotten, we answered truthfully and said we didn't remember. He also seemed especially interested in how we met, when we first started communicating (I got nervous and gave the wrong year...but J quickly corrected me and I concurred), when we met in person in the Phils, and when all of my trips there were and for how many days. When did we get engaged? Gave the date. Was a ring presented? Yes. Were her parents consulted? Yes. He wrote down a lot of stuff during this portion, which kinda confused me, since this part of the visa process should have taken place before the I-129F was approved. At the end of the interview, he said he would be forwarding this up for approval, and he then asked J the questions about "Do you plan to be a terrorist," etc. Once this was done, we were done. No questions about the relationship itself other than do we plan on having children.

Cameras aren't allowed in the building, obviously, but oddly, we tried to take an exterior shot with J and the sign that was on the front of the building. We were probably 150 feet from the building. A security officer stormed out and yelled at us that no pictures of the building were allowed. He stood outside the building until we had pulled out of the parking lot. I mean, geez, it's just a building, nothing at all fancy about it. We wanted to capture at least a moment there near it for posterity. Oh well. Didn't happen.

Anyway, that was our interview experience. I still don't like them taking the work auth card and AP docs, even if we don't need them anymore. I do still have photocopies, though (even if they are worthless).

  11. I was worried about my family too! My sister told me they are ok. The water behind thehouse was already waist-deep and thank God for a cemented wall separating our house from that vacant land! If the wall wasn't there, water would surely come in. At the neighbor's which is just a house away, the water went inside their house and was knee deep. Also my family had to help rescue our family friends who live near the bridge in Opol. Thank God the car can wade through the flood or else they will be stuck in there! Let's continue to pray for the victims, residents and the weather of cdo.

  13. I didn't really cook in Philippines a lot in the Phils and did ocassional cooking only! I miss Filipino food and I've been cooking my own dishes but it still taste different hahaha. I miss Phil mangoes coz the green mangoes here aren't sour and their ripe mangoes taste funny!

  14. Evan, how are you? I got my free TD vaccines at the Health Center at New Bern. I got a checkup there coz hubby wanted me to get 1 when I just arrived here but we paid for it though. Good thing, they gave me the free vaccines. You might have to establish records there 1st, dunno how it goes but check them out if you haven't gotten your vaccines.

  15. Try the thai jasmine rice that you can find at almost every grocery store and you don't have to buy rice cooker yet. You can use pot to cook your rice on the gas range/stove. I think my grandma used to do that before and I also did camping in PI when my classmate used pot to cook our rice. You can also try rice-a-roni, easy to cook with some added flavor too!
