  1. Hi VJers,

Bottomline--I know all I can do is wait.

But still--I am worried sick about this so I am asking for your opinion.

I changed my address on January 2007 (I informed my local office, CSC, and Missouri).

    I called USCIS to verify.

I got confirmation letters from USCIS.

I honestly think I did everything by the book ;)

My EAD was sent to the correct address. So this was good.

Got an RFE recently--it was sent to my old address.

I had to call USCIS three times to resend it.

When I sent my response to the RFE (medical), I enclosed a letter informing USCIS of my correct address.

After a few days--I got an online notification that my green card has been ordered (great!)

I called USCIS to verify if they sent it to the correct address (that is, if they already have sent it)...but they told me they don't have access to that kind of information.

Do you think this time they'll do it right?

Is there anything else I can do to make sure they will send it to my current address?

Or do I just wait and see if they will make a mistake again? :(

  2. My case is also in CSC. Not sure if anybody is on the same boat as I am...but anyway--just wanted to share.

I got married on October 2006, filed for AOS on November 2006, was transferred to CSC on Dec 2006.

I had to move to a different address on January 2007. So on Dec 2006, I mailed USCIS a change of address form (there was no online version yet at that time) and a sponsor change of address form as well (I don't remember the form number). I did follow everybody's advice here on VJ (well, not really, coz if I did, I wouldn't have moved at all--but what can I say, it was necessary). I kept proof of mail that I sent the change of address forms (btw, I mailed these forms to CSC, Missouri, and my local office; I wanted to be 100% that USCIS gets them). I called up USCIS twice to confirm my address change.

I got an address change confirmation mail from USCIS at my new address.

I also applied for EAD at the same time I filed AOS. I got that around Feb 2007 @ my new address. Because of this, I was feeling pretty sure that I did things right.

On the last wk of June--I got an online notification from USCIS telling me that they sent me an RFE. Oh no! I kinda figured they'd be asking for another medical. I entered the US on K1. I did my medical at my home country on mid-June of 2006. By the time they "touched" my case again...it was already 1 year and 2 weeks since I had my medical. Tsk-tsk...these two weeks caused me 350 dollars. But that's another story.

When I got my online notification, I started waiting for the RFE. It never came :( So after 2 weeks, I scheduled for an Infopass. If you read VJ...you kinda get the feeling that calling USCIS would be a complete waste of time. So I just scheduled for an Infopass. It seemed the best thing to do. A week before the Infopass--I thought, what the heck--might as well call USCIS. So I did--and they confirmed that they sent the RFE to my old address. I had them resend it and I cancelled my Infopass appointment. I bugged them three times to make sure they resent the RFE to my current address.

I finally got the RFE letter and as I said earlier, I had to do a medical again. Last Aug 8, I mailed the medical results back. Accdg to USPS online, USCIS got it on Aug 14. My online status was not updated til yesterday, Aug 21.

So what I'm trying to say is--

    1) every case is different

    2) be patient. If you've been waiting 6 months--realize that some people have waited longer and are still waiting (like me!)

    3) sign up for online notification

    4) calling USCIS is not so bad

    5) it is still best not to move while your papers are being processed. If you do, prepare for the worst.

    6) apply for ead...you never know how long the AOS process will take. If I had to wait for my greencard while not doing anything--I'd have gone mad

    7) being transferred to CSC may or may not be good news (I was one of the unlucky ones who thought being transferred to CSC would speed up the processing)

    8) if reading other VJers' processing times just makes you feel sad or more anxious about your case (why was their case processed faster? why did it take just a month for some? why is it taking so long for me? what did I do wrong?)--then don't. Sometimes it's just best not to know. As for me--I think I stopped checking for USCIS touches after the 5th month of waiting. I stopped checking others' processing times as well at the same time.

    Just sharing...and yes, I'm still waiting :)

  3. Please help me.

We applied for AOS last Nov 2006. We were transfered to CSC on the same month. On December 2006, we moved and so we requested a change of address. Since then, we haven't received any information on my AOS case anymore. On June 30, I received an online alert that said USCIS sent me an RFE. It's been 12 days now and I still haven't received it. Now I am worried that they sent it to my old address.

What can I do about this? What number do I call to ensure that they sent it to the correct address? The problem with USCIS customer service is every time you ask them questions, they just give you the same information that USCIS case online gives. How do I go about this? I tried to setup an Infopass online (Charlotte) but it told me that there's none available at this time.

Please help. I'm so worried. :help:

  4. Hi,

I have a question. On Dec 15, my I-485 status stated that

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: This case has been sent to another office for processing.

On December 15, 2006, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location

On Dec 20, my status online became:

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that was transferred to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location is now pending there

    (so this is good right?)

On Dec 29, I had to move to another city (same state). So I called the 1800 number and also sent my AR 11. I was surprised to see my status online updated on the same day. But now, it's back to:

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: This case has been sent to another office for processing.

On December 15, 2006, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for

I haven't received any touches since then. Is this a bad thing? Because I moved, did they suddenly move me at the end of the line again? :(

Thanks for your help in advance!
