  1.

    Hello everyone,

I’m posting here because I’m confused.  my  fiancé arrived in The U.S  on December 20, 2018 we got married on January 9. 2019 ( about 3 weeks ago)  I am researching the process of AOS, and came across that we should have probably applied for a SSN before getting married. Is this accurate? What do I do in this case? Is a SSN needed before AOS

    Please help  thanks,

  2. My fiancé and I had our  interview yesterday. My joint sponsor and I filled out I-134 , However at the end the counselor officer said the joint sponsor was actually supposed to fill out 1-864 . And was not supposed to fill out I -134. She kindly told us to go back home and submit the correct one and send it by email to the embassy in Bogota, Colombia. I had never heard of I-864 being requested during the interview but just wanted to let you know that could be a possibility for you.

  3. My fiancé and I ad the interview yesterday at the Embassy in Bogota, Colombia didn’t go as expected had a small issue. At the end of the interview the counselor officer said everything was OK but that my joint sponsor was not supposed to fill out I-134 , but rather I-864 .  The counselor officer was pleasant and, asked us too complete I-864 after we leave the embassy. The instructions  were to fill it out with the joint sponsor information and email it to an email at the embassy. I was so confused I thought the I-864 was intended to be filled out once my fiancé reached the United States and applied for adjustment of status.. obviously I did not want to question the counselor officer and upset her, so just agreed and walked away.

I’m still a bit nervous, however I’m staying optimistic. One, they kept my fiancé‘s passport, typically this is done when they approve your visa and will put the visa inside the passport. So, wouldn’t see why they would keep his passport for no reason. Two, she looked very confident with our case, and look like she was just trying to help us. I don’t think they would send me home to fill out this paperwork to send it to them and then just tell me it’s denied. I think if there were other reasons to deny us they would just say don’t even worry about filling out I-864 , Since he will be denied on other grounds. Maybe not in those words exactly lol but something similar.  Does anyone on here have any insight? Please help

  4. Ok, I’ll try my best to make this as simple as I can, here we go !

I’m 24 , live in The U.S. My  fiancé lives in  Colombia , I received our  NOA 2about 2 1/2 weeks ago and it was approved!! What has me uneasy is the following, I’m  legally blind  and was  receiving  SSI benefits due to my  disability, was told by person doing my parents taxes I was not  required to file taxes, they claimed me as a  dependent .

Graduated college in May 2017, I am now working full time  Making $40,000 a year. Started working in January 2018 ( 8 months) have not worked long ng enough to file taxes . I will be  filing   taxes this year l, which will be to late for the interview which is  probably in  6-8 weeks. Is the lack of taxes a problem?

    Is this a problem??

I do  make  enough in a year to satisfy the income requirements .

    Please help !
