    3.  Purchase your trip as two one way tickets. The day of your flight to DR, purchase your return ticket for any date,  on any airline, directly from the airline website.  Print out your confirmation.  After arriving in DR, cancel the ticket.  By law, airlines have to give you 24 hours to cancel your ticket, with no penalty.  But read the fine print on the website before purchasing.  You can then purchase your return tickets after you have the visa in hand.

I did this and it worked out well. Only cancel your ticket one you have reached your destination and you have exited the airport.

  2. From our experience and our research, here is what I can tell you.

My husband had his interview at the U.S. Embassy in Honduras on March 14th. He was pending his medical (doctor's weren't available at the time). Therefore he was given a white 221(g) slip. Keep in mind that a 221(g) is a temporary refusal, hence the refusal status in CEAC. He was able to complete his medical on the 24th of March and he sent it in via CargoExpreso that same day as well. CargoExpreso delivered it by the 26th of March. Unfortunately the "package" was not reviewed until April 18th. The 221(g) form explains that any document submitted can take 3 weeks for it to be reviewed. On April 18th his paperwork was finally reviewed and was considered "completed" because they had everything they needed now to fully revise the case. Until the Embassy received all pending documents AP will not start, AP for us started April 18th. I read that we must wait for 60 days to pass in AP before contacting the embassy. I was doing just that, waiting. On day #54, June 11th, we received a phone call and received instructions for the next step, we followed instructions. Yesterday CEAC updated to ISSUED and I am hoping to have my husband home very soon. He has been in away from home for 4 months now. Our circumstances might be different but I hope I helped you understand how AP can work. Administrative processing will not begin until the embassy has received and reviewed all of the pending paperwork. From reading into your situation it sounds like AP probably started on Friday when he received the email indicating that they have received all of the documents and wait for their call. We also received a similar letter that stated "we will call you when we are ready to move forward" I know that playing the waiting game is very stressful. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've cried myself to sleep. I also have a son who is constantly asking for his father but at this point there is very little to do. Just wait and continue to check CEAC for updated dates. Sending positive vibes your way.

If they are not crime related or crime record related he should be fine (if it was not disclosed) , what I have heard they do is that Honduras police and FBI have tattoos photo date bases. If your husband was at some point related to a crime and photos of his tatos were taken on record then it could be a problemo. Other than that is a routine process there a page in this forum someone from El salvador I think with the same issue and visa got approved sorry I don't have link but you can search here in visajourney there a more poeple with that same history about tatoos

Thank you! CEAC status changed yesterday to ISSUED and TravelDocs indicates that his passport has been released from the consulate. We are very excited!!! The waiting is just very nerve-racking. Hopefully we get the email to pick up his passport soon.

  4. My husband had his initial interview on March 14th at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Unfortunately, due to doctor's not being available at that time, he was not able to have his medical exam done before his interview. After the interview he was given 221(g) form for missing documents, (medical). Once he completed his medical we sent it in and he was placed in administrative processing on April 18th. On June 11th he was called to go for a follow-up interview for the following day June 12th. He attended the interview and we found out he was placed in administrative processing due to his tattoos. The interview was primarily focused on his tattoos, he does not have any gang related tattoos. He was also asked about his work history and very little about us (his family). He was told we would have a decision in two weeks. I know it's been only 2 weeks now but I am just very anxious to hear anything. Has anybody experienced anything similar? I would like to hear other experiences. We have been married for 6 years and have a 7 year old son who has been asking non-stop about his daddy. It's been 4 months since he's been away from home. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

nothing yet, are you waiting too.

Yes, we are. Our case is very similar to all of those in this thread. My husband had his interview in Honduras on March 14th and was placed in AP. He was then called to go for a follow-up interview on June 12th, it was for his tattoos. He was told that we would get notified in 2 weeks. It's been 10 days and I know we have to be patient but I am just very anxious to hear something.
