  1. Hi everyone,

Got RFE on both EAD and AP and today I got the letter for AP. It's a joke.. they say my name doesn't match my name in other USCIS records.. which is correct - I did file in my married name BUT I sent all required information; copy of passport, K1, birth certificate and marriage certificate and these documents are exactly what they're asking for in my RFE letter. So frustrating!! Would you guys call them or just send all the documents agan? And if you'd call, would you just use the main phone number to USCIS?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi everyone!

Been following this group since I sent in my application at the end of June.

I feel with you all - I'm starting to get very frustrated about not being able to work! Doesn't help that I now have to start my application process for my American nursing licence. Any other international nurses out there who understand my pain??

However, my case was just updated to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview".  I live in San Francisco, so I don't expect an interview anytime soon, but does this mean they won't send me a RFE? Unless they ask for it at/after the interview?

    Thanks!!

We sent ours in in September. That's crazy that you had to wait so long. Did you get any RFEs? Or do you know why it was so slow?

Just spent way too much time on VJ :P Yes, I gave them the I-134 + supporting docs at the interview and they took some of it. For AOS you have to provide another affidavit though, I-864, it's legally binding as opposed to the I-134. So I attached the I-864 as well as all evidence asked for again. Pay stubs, tax return, letter from employer, all that. You will get a request for initial evidence if you don't attach at least last year's tax return, so I unfortunately think they don't look so much at whatever they have already in terms of financial evidence.

Yea that wait was crazy long, so frustrating. Didn't get any RFE's, so can't say why it took so long. At one point I think they forgot/lost it, because when I e-mailed the NVC everything went really fast all of a sudden. Same with the embassy, as soon as I contacted them I got my interview checklist. ANYWAY I'm here now!!

Ah I see. Did som research yesterday and understand the difference between the two forms. Will finish it off today and send off tomorrow!! YAY

Btw went to SSA this morning and it went really smoothly. Hopefully it wont be too much of a wait to get the actual card.

Jeeze really! Yes you're right, I was there on the 3rd too. There were three Swedes and three Norwegians - all the Norwegians were ahead of me in the line so I heard them talking to the CO. The other two Swedes were one lady who had some problems with her documentation from what it seemed, and then one girl who had to wait a while to leave her passport initially because of the delay with the other Swedish lady. Was that you by any chance?

Hope you're settling in well! Isn't this a crazy journey. When did you apply? And what date did you arrive here? :)

Hah, yes that was me waiting for a while! That's a funny coincidence!

I arrived May 30th. Sent in the K1 petition in June last year... yea such a long journey, so frustrating. When did you send in yours? Looks like we got our NOA's around the same time.

Btw (since you seem like such a visa guru!! :) ) did you give them the Affidavit of support form and supporting documents at the interview in Stockholm? I did and they kept it so I would assume that all of that is already in my envelope at USCIS.. seems so silly that I'd have to provide it again with my AOS app?

  5. Hej!! Thank you! Just read every single page of the June 2018 AOS filers to make sure I'm not missing anything! Hah! Will hopefully send mine off before the end of this week... or beginning of next. That's if i can pick up my marriage certificate tomorrow.. it takes 10 business days until you can pick ut up here in San Francisco. Besides from that mostly copying and prepping the actual packet left to do.

Also! Think we were at the embassy for our interviews on the same day - May 3rd, right?? :)

  6. Hi!

First time posting here on VJ.

Arrived to the US three weeks ago on a K1 (finally, waited about a year for my interview at the embassy in Sweden!) and got married last week. Should be able to pick up our marriage certificate next week.

Just read on an older thread that I probably should have applied for SSN before we got married. This was not something I was aware of, but it seems there are different ways to do it, some might just be more preferable.. So now that we are married, should I go to the social security office this week before we get our marriage certificate and get my SSN in my maiden name, or is it too late anyway, since we're now married? I did change my last name to my husband's on our marriage licence. And also, I should put my new name on the AOS, EAD and advance parole, right? And just write my maiden name under names previously used?

    Thanks!
