  1. AP came a week later than the EAD. AP status on the USCIS website still says pending, too.

Nothing, not even a touch, on the AOS status on USCIS since the biometrics in December.

your situation is exactly like ours. not even a touch since dec 20th. not transferred either. is yours still at nvc too?

"National Benefits Center" it says, so yep! We have the interview scheduled for April 29th. I wasn't expecting anything else to happen until then. Am I wrong?

  2. I got my EAD card last week in mail. However, my AP was approved the day before, and I haven't received it yet. Is that normal, or should I contact someone ASAP or wait for it to come? It's been 2 weeks since the approval. We are getting ready to get tickets to fly back to Finland for our wedding ceremony, and I should have the papers on hand by then

Or can I just use the e-mail that it's been approved going out of the country? :innocent:

My EAD card came a week later than my advance parole papers (which came a week and a half after the approval) and the dates on both documents are the same. I wouldn't suggest using the email for going out of the country; I'd wait for the AP documents before booking flights if possible.

Just the opposite: the AP came a week later than the EAD. AP status on the USCIS website still says pending, too.

  3. 2008-01-22 AP touched.

How do you guys know that AP or EAD is touched?

I have a profile set up at www.uscis.gov where I check my case status every day like a lunatic.

So do I! But I mean how do you know it is touched? lol :) What changes are there? Sorry my question wasn't clear...

When you first log in, before you click on a case number, there is a 'last updated' column with dates in it. The date changes if the file was accessed (touched) by USCIS.

  4. AP is for travel while waiting for AOS to complete, just indicate exactly what you indicated in this post.

So we should definitely request Advance Parole and not a Reentry Permit?

"My husband, our son, and I would like to travel to my husband's home country, England, next year for our son to meet his family." is a good enough reason for AP.

No specific dates need to be indicated either.

    Okay, thank you.

    :time:

    Added wedding date. Thanks.

  5. My husband, our son, and I would like to travel to my husband's home country, England, next year for our son to meet his family.

We have just been married, and are attempting to file the I-131 (Application for Travel Document) along with the I-485 (Adjustment of Status).

I think we should choose "Advance Parole" on the I-131, but some of the wording has indicated that "Advance Parole" is for emergencies only. Are we not able to travel outside the US for a general family visit before the I-485 is approved?

If we CAN travel outside the US for a general family visit before the I-485 is approved, do we HAVE to specify the dates of travel on the I-131 now?

  6. There will be a questionnaire the beneficiary has to fill out prior to the actual exam.

If memory serves me, there is a question about previous 'self harm' on that questionnaire.

Perhaps someone who has completed this questionnaire more recently can confirm this or else correct me if I am wrong.

He has received the questionnaire, which prompted the worry.

  7. This is my first post on VJ and has to do with our first real concern since we started the immigration process.

My fiancee has had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder for most of his life. On one occasion nearly 20 years ago (1988) he attempted suicide and was hospitalized.

Since then, he has been consistently treated for his disorder and has not attempted, nor would he attempt, suicide again.

I don't think that these issues will keep him from coming to the United States as long as he brings to his medical the documentation of his successful release from hospitalization and subsequent treatment by his therapist.

Looking for some reassurance here...

    Thanks.
