Hi all, just want to know about your experiences with the N400 application.
After the online case status "We reviewed your biometrics...", will the online status change to "In line for interview" or will it go direct to "We scheduled your interview"?
I know a few years back it will first say that you are in line for interview and then change to we scheduled your interview, but this year im observing that after biometrics, it goes straight to "we scheduled your interview". Any thoughts? Thank you

For me, it is not big difference. I applied June 2017, and had interview on 09/11/2018.
So I'm totally not fast at all even I filled online.Oh wow..i see..what is your field office?

If the time goes back to that point, I would definitely apply online.. At least at the Jacksonville office.. Whoever I know who have applied online, got thei interview scheduled within one-two months after their bios appt.. People who have even filed online after me have got theirs reviewed and scheduled.. So.. a big YES for the online application.
Yeah, i wish I have done more research..just wanna pull my hair most of the time for not filing online..lol 😂 but there is nothing I can do now. I'm just trying to focus on other stuff while I wait 😩 are you done with your process already or still waiting?

I think the "in line for interview" status either isn't used at all anymore, or is used in only a few cases. That's my understanding at least. So the next would be when interview is scheduled which as you say is likely to be a bunch of months, depending on city...
I see..thank you..

I see..i cant wait till this is all over..hope you get done soon!!!

Hi everyone, after the biometrics appointment, how long did it take before your online status changed to "In line for interview"??
I mean im already mentally prepared that this process will most likely take a year 😩 lol..just want to know how long before your online status changed..thank you

I’m not going to lie - it’s wearing me down. ☹️
Unfortunately my case isn’t qualified for an inquiry yet. My reciept date is July 27 2017, and my field office case inquiry date is anything before April 25, 2017. So I’m still within an acceptable timeline (by their standards).
I just have to wait and try not to let the stress of the process get to me. 😔
Omg, I know! 😱
Its annoying that online filers get ahead even if paper filers applied way before they did..but what's more annoying is that we cant really do anything anymore 😂 it is what it is..

My online status says I’ve been in line for an interview for 367 days. 🙃
Wow, that is more than a year already 😨 i would have gone bonkers..lol..are you making an infopass or something? I think it has taken way too looooong already

No one knows for sure, but the prevailing wisdom on this site is that it does. This has been discussed in many threads, but it's impossible to quantify. There's always a lucky paper filer, though most early interviews seem to be onliners. All things being equal, you have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain by filing online.
Thank you for your response..i have already filed by mail 🤷 i should have done a little more research and did the online..i was just afraid of the glitches and what not, you know, technology failures..lol oh well, cant really do anythig now but wait

I filed through mail, and my office is in Seattle (which is very backlogged), so I understand the frustration of having other cases getting approved before yours even though their receipt date is after your own. ❤️
From what I’ve been reading there isn’t much rhyme or reason as to how the USCIS is processing their workload, even though their website says they “generally” process the cases in the order in which they were received.
It’s just luck, I guess! 😩
I should have filed online...grrrrr 😤 but what does your online status say now? Are you in line for interview?

A lot of us are still waiting. 😩 I filed my N400 in July 2017, had my biometrics in August 2017, and I haven’t heard anything since then.
All we can do is wait. ❤️
Did you file by mail? What is your field office?
-
Does filing the N400 online really have that big of an advantage over those who filed by mail? From what i have heard, it can only expedite the process of getting your biometrics appointment. I filed by mail and was able to get my biometrics completed 20 days after i mailed off my packet. Any thoughts??

Yes that is one of the requirements. The others are pretty much given. You live in the state you are applying in for at least 3 months, you know English, you know the basic history of the US, your spouse is a US citizen for at least 3 years, and you are a good person (yes this is actually listed in the requirements
).
Good luck!
Thank you so much. It just makes me paranoid..lol

Yes you can file then. Assuming you meet the other requirements.
Thank you for your reply.. what are the other requirements? Is it the continuous residence? Since becoming LPR, i have only been out of the US one time, in 2016, for 22 days
