  1. And back then (2007) there were far more cases going through HCMC than there are now... it all boils down to how generous the CO feels at that point I guess.... for now all we can do is hope for a good CO...

The preparation for the interview has all been done and she is really comfortable and confident. I think her family and friends are getting tired of hearing about our relationship as they discuss it all the time, but it has helped her to get comfortable talking about the details of our relationship.... knowing the details has never been a problem, being ready to answer questions about it and understanding exactly what is being asked is more difficult....

for example: when they ask her "what will you do when you go to the US".. there are two answers that come to mind but only 1 correct response to the CO... If the beneficiary says, go to school, get a job and work, be a house wife... all wrong answers.... Get married within 90 days is the correct response because as has been said so many times before.. we must think like a CO.. the CO looks at it from the standpoint that they are giving a visa to get married (within 90 days) and not to go to work, school etc. it may seem like splitting hairs, but in the context of the ppurpose of the visa, there is only 1 correct response. anything else could cause problems if there was doubt already present...

Again, I think this all boils down to the CO who is reviewing the case since the decision is usually made before the interview anyway....

I understand how you and her feeling, back then my neighbours discussed about us all the time because after Dam hoi I didnt want him to come back Vietnam and waited for my interview to go to HCMC with me. My CO asked me very simple questions, It's better talk direct to him in English than talk to Vietnamese lady there, (it's my opinion) special when I have an American fiance. He didnt asked me what will I do when I go to the US, just asked some questions like:

-How did you and your fiance know each other? Can you tell me about it?

-How many times did he come to VN to visit you and for how long?

-What do he do for living?

    -When is your engagement?

-Do you have anything to show me about your relationship with him?

-Is he here with you? (My fiance went to HCMC but they didnt let him come inside with me so he had to wait outside but I guess they saw it from their camera)

Then he said congratulation and gave me a pink paper and told me to come back around 10am tomorrow (I dont remember exactly the time) to get my Visa and passport.

Hope the best for you and her.

  2. try not to worry too much, I dont think they say before you pass the interview how long does it take to get a visa. Like mine, I got it right in the morning of the next day so just praying for her to pass the interview for now so you and her can be together forever soon :)

  3. You remind me of my story. (period) I lived in North Vietnam as well so I had to fly to HCM and stayed at a hotel there for a couples day for the interview. My fiance went there with me. And on the way to get a vaccination somehow I lost my ID and it was 3 days away from the interview. I was beside myself: How could I get a new ID in 1 day..... I called my dad and my brother_in_law and luckily his friends can help me to make a new one. I had no choice that I had to fly back to the North and my fiance didn't want me to go alone so we flew together. We got everything done and we flew back to HCM and prepared for the interview for the next morning.... I got pink and got Visa in the next day, it was like a ton of weight on my shoulders went away. The end was good, despite everything. I'm in the US now and becoming a mother :)

  4. We applied for Sercuriy number on 27th Aug. They said i will get it in 2 weekd. After 3 weeks i didnt get it yet so my husband called them to ask and they said have to wait in about 6 weeks. And now I still didnt get the number yet, So we went to the office yesterday to ask them and the woman who helped us before said: there is someone same my name and same my birthday that's why she called me and my husband before and she got all the imformation, thought it's ok and i would get it soon... They said sorry about that and checked it again. Now all is clear, they will mail me in 2 weeks.

  5. HI guys!

Still waiting for my Interview day. How long will it take after I send out my Final Paper stating that 'm ready for an interview? And do I receive a letter that says a specific day for it or do I tell them which day is convenient for me? Do I do it by phone or letter? Thnx guys! This site is awesome!

Since i sent out the paper that i'm ready for an interview i had to wait for 3 months to get another letter from Ho Chi Minh Consulate (Vietnam) that shows the date of interview and what you need to do for it. I'm not sure about Hong Kong. But Good Luck! :innocent:

  6. So I'm in the US now.

It took 3 hours from Hanoi to Taiwan (NoiBai-Taipei) then 11 hours from Taipei-San Francisco. I was nervous. Weather is cool, a little cold to me. We were standing on Non-immigrant near by a Vietnamese girl (i think she comes there like me because i saw the Cho Ray documents) then Kevin came to ask a man who works there and he said to take me to the place for Immigrant. We got a young lady. She's very nice to us. Asked me to print finger and take pic and she said to us to get marry as soon as, welcome to the US and Good luck to us... She's very nice.

Everyone here are very nice and friendly. But they surprised because i'm so tiny. hehehe

I feel a little bit sick now. Maybe from weather, and didn't sleep much :(

  7. I wonder what my wife would recieve when she picks up her visa ? What I heard is : Passport, brown sealed envelope . Is there 1 brown envelope of each person or 2 envelopes for each ? and what about the lung x-ray films? Does she need the x-ray films of her lung to enter US ? she told me that people say tat it's better to have the lung xray films .

I got my Passport with Visa glued inside so the date issue and expiration of the Visa (for 1 year) and also the issue and expiration that we have to get marry with Kevin full name. And brown sealed envelope with an intruction sheet. And the stuff that our lawyer in the US sent to USCIS before (a few emails, pics, letter of I and Kevin) ;)

Hang, did you get the Xray film the same time when you get your passport/visa ? or they gave you the xray film right after the interview ?

What if a person got her visa without the xray film? Can we resquest the consulate to give that back ?

The Xray film was inside the medical's documents that IOM gave to me and it was sealed. At the interview day i gave it to the first CO (Vietnamese man) and he tear the medical's package. He took something inside (i don't know what it is because i couldn't see) and he gave me back the bag with Xray-film inside. He didn't keep it.

  9. About 12pm a woman from US HCM Consulate called me to tell me about my finger print had problem. I had to go to the Consulate at 1pm to do it again and she's not sure if i will get Visa this afternoon. So Kevin and I went to US Consulate at 1pm and they didn't let he come inside the building with me again. So i came in alone.

I came to the gate 9 and asked the Vietnamese man who i gave my documents yesterday to ask him to do my finger print and he asked me to sit to wait. While i was waiting i saw him talked to the handsome young CO man yesterday asked me (I want to tell you about the CO who asked me because he is very nice. He speaks soft but not too fast and smiled at me. He works in the 8 gate. I think it's nice and lucky if you get that CO). Then the woman, translator yesterday she was with the CO asked me called me and said my finger print is ok, I will get my Visa at 4pm. She said me to wait there or go out and back there to get Visa at 4pm. So We back hotel to wait.

I just back from US Consulate, they gave me those things that our lawyer sent to USCIS before when he helped us with documents and forms that had to be done in the US (everything of Kevin and I that he asked: some our emails, copy of letter and pics) back, my passport with Visa inside. And Kevin wrote a letter to tell about how we know, meet each other, the lawyer sent it to USCIS too. We didn't know about it. I think it helps a lot because the CO didn't see our emails, letter, chat logs or phone calls. He just asked to see our pics with some questions. That's all. It's quick and i passed.

Thanks to my lawyer and everyone's support in VJ

  10. Today was my interview so Kevin and I went to US Consulate about 9am. They didn't let him come with me in the building. After he talked to the guard there they let him into the American Service Section where he waited for me.

I got a number at 9.12 am (My interview is at 10am as they say in the interview letter). A lot of ppl were waiting there, almost Visa for family member and a lot ppl got blue sheet. I saw a girl cried and walking out with the blue.

I felt nervous, but then i talked to a young man sit next to me to forget about it, just waited for them to call my number. I was nearly the last one there and finally my number was called.

I went to gate 9 and there was a Vietnamese man. I smiled at him. He was not so nice. Maybe because i hardly hear what he said because i'm from the North and he has South accent. I tried to comfort myself and give him all documents he asked and signed to the document he said. Then he asked me some question in Vietnamese like: Is he Western? where does he live? was he born in the US? How did you both know each other and when? Did he get married before? Did you get married before? Does he have any kids? Do you have relatives in the US? (I said no and he asked again are you sure? I said yes). When was your engagement party? Then he said me to wait to be called again.

So i waited about 5 mins and they called me to go to the gate 8. There was a very handsome young American man and a Vietnamese woman. She told me to print my fingers then signed to the document she said. Then she asked me question in Vietnamese: How did you both know each other? Why did he sign up that website if he want to learn Vietnamese language? Why did he want to go to Vietnam and not another country? So i answered her in Vietnamese but she didn't get it. She asked me again so i told her again but i saw the CO man was confused because the woman didn't tell him much then i talked to him in English. After that he just asked me in English, not that woman again. I had to answer the question: Why did he want to come to Vietnam, not another country? again to him. Then he asked me: What does he do? How many time he come to VN? Did he spend time with you while he was in VN? What did you guys do while he was in VN? How long did he stay in VN for each time? When was your engagement party? Did you meet his parents? (I said no, they don't have time to go to VN but I talked to them online and on phone). Do your parents like him? (I said yes, a lot because he is very friendly and smart, he learn Vietnamese language fast and speak it well. the CO was suprised and said Really? I said Yes). Then he asked me to show him some evidence. So i showed him Kevin's dad's letter. Our emails, emails with his dad and mom. He didn't read it, just saw it and asked me to see our pics. I gave him about 100 pics of us. Both he and the woman were suprised, he just saw some pics. Then I asked if he want to see more evidence, i have a lot and he said it's ok. Then he wrote and gave me the PINK sheet and smiled at me. I said Thank you so much to him and the woman told me to come back at 4pm tomorrow to pick up my passport. :D

  11. So i lost my ID on 12th morning on the way went to get my vaccination in HCM city and i had to fly back my hometown in HaiDuong in afternoon 17th to make a new ID. We are stay in a hotel in Hanoi now. Kevin bought round ticket for us so our flight back to HCM city is at 7pm this today. 5 hours ago my brother called me to tell there was problem with my new ID. They made mistake with my address on it. I have only 8 hours from that time till my flight so i told him have to make new one and also get translate into English with certification as soon as possible. Then my brother talked to my brother-in-law to go to ask them to remake it with correct address. Pass 1pm my brother-in-law called me to tell me he went to ask them and got my new ID with correct address, he went to office to ask them to translate and certificate but it was closed so he told me still go to HCM city, he will send my ID and coppy with certification by VN express to me to the hotel in HCM city. I worried it's not enough time for me to get it before interview so i asked him go to ask them to make it as soon as (of course have to pay extra money). So he said he will go to wait and ask them. Lucky they know him. 30 mins ago he called me to tell me he got all done and gave to my brother. My brother is on his way to Hanoi to bring it for me now.

  12. What do you mean you LOST your ID?????? Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Let me get this straight:

    You are still in Hanoi?

You are going to have the MED-Exam this friday July 20th?

Your interview is Monday July 23rd?

For some obvious reason, I must agree with you that you should be nervous! Unless you have a super nice Med-Examiner, I don't see how you will get the result back the same day. They don't work over the weekend (IOM). How can you get the result by Monday for the interview?

I'm not sure what else can you do now but to postpone the interview.

Headache, headache... Still don't get it, what do you mean you LOST your id??????????????:angry::angry:

Sorry Kevin... and Hang... I'm just feeling angry at the situation itself... ok... don't know why but i am mad....

I think you misunderstood what i said above. Kevin and I went to HCM city on 11th and we went to get vaccination on 12th and that i lost my ID on the way to go there (don't know how i lost it but i lost it). Then 13th morning we went to US HCM Consulte to tell them and asked if i could get Visa without my ID and she said no. So we went to IOM to get appoitment and they gave me the date 16th. I took Medical exam already on 16th morning and she said i can get the result in afternoon 17th but i had to fly back my home town to make a new ID before it's too late. But no seat on 17th also 18th just Business class on 18th morning so we picked it. Then we back my home town in afternoon 18th and i done everything to get new ID that afternoon and lucky i got new ID in the morning 19th. Now we are in Hanoi and will fly to HCM city this late afternoon. So tomorrow afternoon (Friday) i will get my Medical exam result. My interview is on next Monday 23rd.

Everything is ok. I just still nervous about my interview and wasted a lot money.hic hic

  13. So, Kevin's here on 10th. We came to HCM on 11th. We stayed at a new hotel name is Thanh Lien in Ly Tu Trong street. It cost 40$ for the first day because other room are full then the next day they changed for us to another room cost 30$. Anyway it's a nice hotel. All people there are nice and friendly.

On the way to get vaccination i lost my ID. We were so upset. I really dont know where lost it. We just on taxi, i even called him and we all checked it but there was not my ID. So we decided still go to get vaccination. Kevin went with me and doctor asked him to wait out side. Before she gave me vaccine she asked me some questions about us like "how did you know each other? what does he do? where does he live in the USA...?" maybe she's just curious.

Then morning next day (Friday), we went to US HCM Cosulate. Kevin asked the information and she said I have to back my town to get a new ID, without it they will not give me Visa. Then we went to IOM to get appointment. Lucky I'm from Hai Duong, it's far from HCM city so they gave me appoitment on morning next Monday. Wow, all people and doctor there are so nice to me.

I done everything on Monday morning. We wanted to fly back my home town in afternoon so we asked the hotel to book for us while we went to IOM to done medical exam but when we back she said no seat. Then we went to VN airline office near by the hotel to ask them but they said no seat on Monday even business class just on only business class on Tuesday morning so we booked it with round ticket.

We back my hometown in afternoon Tuesday and done all to make a new ID. Now we are at a hotel in Hanoi. Tomorrow we will fly back HCM to get medical exam document on Friday.

My interview is on next Monday. I still feel a little nervous.

  14. Hello Vjer's

Just planning ahead. I filed a K1 visa petition for my fiancee in Vietnam. I live in NYC. When it comes down to the interview does anyone know if I have to go to Vietnam for the interview? Or she gets the interview in Vietnam and I get my interview in NYC?

Also I 'm trying to speed up the process in getting this K1 fiancee Visa ASAP. What should I do in preparation in trying to get this done ASAP. I sent my I-129f on 6/25 to VSC. I know VSC moves a little quicker. To VJer's who have gone thru this experience what are my changes of getting this done before the ending of this year. Is it possible to get it within 6 months from today?

    Thanks all

Just she has interview in VN, you dont have interview in NY. You dont have to back VN for the interview but if you can back VN to join interview with her, to support her it would be nice....

With some case it takes 6 month (it's fast) and 8 months, some takes a bit longer. But i see almost takes 6-8 months.

I wish you all the Best.

  15. I-134 for the interview and I-864 to apply with the AOS when u come over here in the US. U should be calm and read more careful all the intrustions, aslo why dont u have ur fiancee help u some?

    Goodluck

    Thank you M!

Kevin done it, the form I-134. And in Packet 3 they said to bring it to the interview. I just didn't understand about I-864 because they said it in Packet 4 and said it in the THIRD: Assemble the documents listed below in the order they are listed and bring all of the documents (originals and photocopies) pertinent to your case with you to your interview. Your application will be refused if you fail to bring all required documentation. DO not mail the following documents to the Consulate General. Bring them with you to the interview.

    1. Your Appoiment letter

    2. Color visa photographs

    3. ID (original and photocopy)

    4. Household registration book (original and photocopy)

    5. Passport

    6. Form DS-230 Part I and II

    7. Birth certificate for each applicant and the petitioner (original and photocopy)

    8. Marriage certificated, if applicable (original and photocopy)

    9. Divorce decree, or death....

    10. If chirlden...

    11. Police certificate

    12. Forein Police certificate....

    13. Count....

    14. Military....

    15. Medical exam result

    16. The petitioner must submit a complete Form I-864 Affidavit of Support.....

    17. Proff of your relationship.....

So what is #16 with form I-864 here for??? I dont understand why they say it in Packet 4 in the document required if it's for me when i'm in the US????

  16. Guys!

I'm wondering about I-134 and I-864. In Packet 3 HCMC said to tell Kevin done the form I-134 and that i will have to bring to the interview and in Packet 4 they said about I-184. Will I have to bring all form I-134 and I-864 to the interview or just I-134? and What is I-864 for?

Thank you all for helping us!

  17. My fiancee want me to have a wedding party for her but it's not a actually married agreement on paper of any kind.Just a wedding party. We are not marry.Just filing K1 to get marry in the US. Base on my saving ,stocks IRA and owning a house would that be empty to support her? Having over 60K of Liquird cash would that cut it? Just wondering. Hopefully I will be employ soon and will have a steady income. Will not having a job effect my K1 process when it comes down to Affidavit of Support?

    Thanks for reply.......

    :help:

Hehe, before end of this year. It's kind of superstition? But it's nice to hear, just like me.

Kevin and I did celebrate party for our engagement but did like a wedding, it's for my family and friends here in Vietnam.

Take pic of it... It will be your good evidence.

Kevin also hired a lawyer there too. And now he is doing for AoS. Ron who does it said he will done all on next Tuesday.

Next week, Kevin will bring all our stuffs for our lawyer to review to make sure before he fly back Vietnam.

You can use your mom and dad as co-sponsor. Try to find a job as soon as, dont to picky with job. At least your fiancee can show you have a job and make money.

    Good Luck!

  18. Thank you so much for advices friends.

Kevin and I went to HCM for vacation in late June last year and we stayed in Que Huong Liberty3 it cost 30$ or so. It's pretty nice. That is the first time i've ever been in HCM but we didnt stayed long and Because this time we will have to stay longer, at least 2 weeks so we'd like to hear your advice about hotels. I think rate about 20-25$ is nice for stay long... :)
