  1. Thanks for the responses, I was really getting frustrated!!

Anyway I have some links that might give you out there ammunition when the civil surgeons tell you that you need to get this vaccination and that vaccination etc....

Here are the instructions per the CDC for civil surgeons to follow. Towards the end there is the table listing what vaccinations you need depending on your age:

    http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/civil.htm

  2. We're now applying for AOS from a K1. I'm getting the same run around from the civil surgeons as everyone else does about needing another exam. My wife received some shots from the embassy approved doctor to get her k1 but now my question is: Does anyone know what shots are needed for AOS that are to be shown on the I-693A supplement sheet?

I called 2 civil surgeons yesterday and they both told me I needed different shots, not to mention that both said that we'd need another exam. So I'd like to know what shots are needed, so we can shop around and get them at the cheapest available place and then have that doc in Austin transfer them to the I-693A for $10.

  3. I emailed the embassy yesterday about the NVC receiving my petition on may 17th, and how as of June 7th my fiancé had not received anything from them. I asked for the status of my case and when they would send packet 3 out. Today they emailed me back and said Silvia has a interview date of Sept 5 already, and packet 4 (not 3) was sent out June 6th.

So the good news is we have an interview date!!!

Bad news is that its kinda far away, but mainly I'm kinda worried as to why they never sent out packet 3 to her. Aren't those forms required? Does this happen at other embassies?

  4. While reading your post I felt exactly like you. I was going crazy seeing everyone else get their NOA2 while I was still waiting. I had been touched on May 1st and 2nd, I called using the RFE "trick" but still had no news whatsoever. I stopped reading the forums and became a very nasty person to those people who are around me.

BUT then I got a letter in the mail a few days ago from the NVC saying they had received my APPROVED petition. If you got touched a few weeks ago my guess is that you're approved its just that the USCIS is so behind they're not sending email or letter approval notices.

So is that feeling in your gut justified? Yes it is justified. But do whatever you can do to not go crazy because you're most likely approved.

  5. Another February approval! I was one of the first to record touches, one on 5/1 and another on 5/2 and now I'm guessing on 5/1 was the approval and the one on 5/2 was outprocessing to the NVC. I wasn't notified by mail or email by CSC and I called them using the "RFE trick" and the lady didn't tell me anything new and didn't tell me I had been approved or anything just the usual "you're within processing limits, you were mailed a NOA1 on Feb 9th etc..." So either she was lying or their system "is practically identical" to the online status page we sign up for as I was told by the lady answering the phone.

  6. Yeah nothing personal against Euphesus and his post specifically, but seriously it's starting to rack my nerves, especially since the CSC slowdown. It gets my hopes up everytime I see a "Got my NOA2!!!!" post and then I read it only to find out the goon filed at VSC and waited like 2 weeks. Like wow big deal you waited 2 whole weeks. Congratufrickenlations. Its more like a sunday walk in the park than a journey. I know the VSC people don't mean anything by it, but it's like eating filet mignon in front of a homeless person. Yeah you got the money to buy it so eat it, just don't do it in front of the poor guy and expect him to like you for it.

  7. Okay I'll say it. Please don't post in here ever about getting anything if you're from Vermont. Especially if its been like 3 weeks. Like "OMG I've been waiting 2 weeks for my NOA2 should I be worried!?!", and then expect us to answer you, or congratulate you for waiting 3 whole weeks. Yes I know you're not being mean or rubbing anything in, but seriously have a heart for us who have to wait 3+ months and longer...there's still people from Nov waiting so please just STFU and stop posting here. Thanks. That is all.

  8. I'm fine with the checks at first glance. What really irritates me is the fact that our fiances have to go through all these countless background checks (and pay a whole lot for them too) meanwhile there are 15 MILLION UNDOCUMENTED people running around. Both very scary and very unfair. Again our government could check, detain, or deport most of those 15 million but they don't. One reason, why? Money. How many lobbyists does the meatpacking or homebuilding industry have in Washington? How many do I have? Translation? I gotta pay $2,000 + for my sweet girl to come over while they get to exploit virtually unlimited cheap labor.

  9. Well, not that it matters right now, but why have you been on a waiting list at the consulate for an interview since 2005? Thats ridiculous. They can't be that backlogged. A k1 visa gets immediate priority, unlike if your going to bring your brother, mother etc...

But as to your case being purged....well I don't know what to do and neither does anyone else so far. It sounds like you made it through the hardest part and then got screwed. As my friend taught me back in college when haggling with customer service people over the phone - Just remember...They can't hang up on you. As long as you don't swear at them, just keep talking to them, keep them on the line until they promise to do something or they hand you off to someone else more important that can do something. Don't take no for an answer. Call, call, call, and then call back just to say hi again. Call every number you can get your hands on. But be nice and corteous and if it takes you 4 hours with one person I'll bet they'll be able to "find" your petition miraculously just to shut you up.

    Good luck, keep us posted.

  10. Yeah I've been wondering about the same thing. My Guatemalan fiancee is planning on getting a license in her home country (she doesn't have one yet, as does no one else in Guatemala, even though she drives....ahhh gotta love Guatemala) because then it's good for up to one year here. Is India part of the reciprocity program? If so then they can use their country's license for up to one year in TX. Keep me updated, I'm expecting her to arrive in August if all goes well.

  11. NOOOOO. I just got half my money back from my lawyer today actually. The other half she kept for the services she rendered to me: INCORRECT legal advice, mistakes on forms, asking for things I didn't need to send, not asking for things that I did need to include, not responding to my emails etc... A total waste of money. And since I signed a contract there is probably nothing I can do to get the other half back. Its like returning a TV because when you turn it on all you see is black and white static, and then the store saying well we'll give you back half because it does turn on at least. YEAH BUT IT DOESN'T WORK!

You'll learn 10x more from VJ, you'll be involved in the process, you'll save lots of money, and save time so ultimately you can get your approval faster. Unless there are some issues with overstaying visa, deportation, or some other hairy situation, DONT HIRE A LAWYER! They care about the money, not you or your case.

  12. Hello everybody!

We sent our application yesterday, February 6th, to Texas center. And now we have a question... on USPS's site it says that they attempted delivery, today at 11:44 AM (so during office hours I would say), and a notice was left. They will try a second delivery... But now I wonder, how can they get a delivery receipt from a PO box?!

We are both confused and until we get an answer from a USPS office (cause it seems that is as hard as getting an answer from USCIS  ), I was wondering if anyone had this stupid problem.

This happened to me too, don't worry. I sent mine Thurs Feb 1st and it arrived Friday Feb 2nd. But they said too a notice was left. I don't know how they can't deliver to a PO box, but anyway this past monday I checked and it said it had been delivered. Even my mom who has worked for the USPS for 25 yrs didn't know why. But be patient. It will be delivered. If its been a week or something then call though.

  13. Guess what... I can not write in THAI!

So... after panicking a few minutes and kicking myself for not having Suphee write her address for me a few days earlier when I was still in Thailand, I remembered the local Thai restaurant... they of course congratulated me and said 'Of course one of us would be glad to write the address in Thai for you..."

    :  :  :  :  :

Hahahaha. Thats some quick thinking. I think we should recommend that for people who ask about things needing translation. Just take it to your local ____________ ethnic restaurant and have your docs translated while you eat!

  14. Hi! Can some one help please? When we submit the petition form. What documentation need to be original and what can be photo copies?

"cough""cough" ummm guys let me take this one. First post here, but I've been browsing for a while. Just sent out my I-129F today so I think I'm now qualified to answer a question here or there. Gonna start a Feb filers thread, sent it out Feb 1st 8:32am CST. Anyone beat that for Feb?

    Anyway....

Copies of everything except: And the photocopies have to be EXACT photocopies. Don't enlarge them.

You need original (ink) signatures on both the letters of intent to marry and both of the G-325a's. You can copy the forms, you just need original signatures on them.

And of course original passport photos and original photos showing the two of you together.

Anything you give them you will never get back so don't send your original birth cert, passport, etc...
