I called USCIS yesterday to see if they knew anything about my filing status. they told me they couldn't tell me anything unless it's been 30 days since i submitted my original application. but the person on the phone mentioned something about Postal Office mishap. when i asked her for details, she didn't tell me. she told me i'd know the detail if i got a letter from them about the incident. if i hadn't received the letter yet, i'm not affected, thus don't need to know. (weird~)
well, that didn't really tell me much since i haven't received _any_ letter at this point.

hi, guys:
I sent my I751 in on 1/13/2010 through Priority mail to CSC. I checked USPS website and my package arrived on 1/15. Today is 2/3 and I still haven't got NOA or Bio letter yet. based on what i read from this thread, i think i'm the only one who hasn't heard back anything. Is that right? Is there a phone number i can call to confirm whether they've received my package?

update: i received my NOA1s (three of them) at the end of Jan. so it took us a little bit more than a month. i don't know why the USCIS phone guy would just scare me like that....
one other strange thing though, none of the application numbers (shown on NOA) is in their system yet. it's been 2 months. i know this is because i tried to add them to my "watch list" on USCIS, but their system told me the numbers couldn't be found. i also tried to call USCIS again on this particular issue. their agents couldn't find the numbers either. he told me to wait for another month for the system to be updated.
Ridiculous!

hi, all:
Fiona and I submitted her Adjustment of Status form on December 26th 2007. it's been almost 3 weeks and we haven't received any notification yet. our check hasn't been cleared yet either.
today we went to our DMV trying to apply for her driver's license. we were rejected because our DMV now requires NOV1 number. i guess that's because they need to know she really do have legal status in the States...
anyways, so i called USCIS today and heard message saying it now is going to take up to 16 weeks (up from 4 weeks) for any notification to be sent. this is due to heavy increased volume of applications before the fee increase.
4 months is a little bit too long to wait for a notification; 4 months is a bit too longer for Fiona to start practicing driving. isn't this ridiculous??
has anyone else got the same message? i read the December filer thread, it seems that they've got theirs pretty quick. all within the month.
any ideas what's going on?

sorry if there is any dups out there already on this topic. i did a search on this, but didn't find the exact answer i was looking for. (also, because of the restriction on the search function, i cannot enter the exact phrase i'm looking for).
thanks to all of you guys' help, my wife is finally here in the States. Right now we are applying for AOS, EAD and AP (at the same time). after getting some great info on this site, we went to Dr. Arnold for Vaccination supplement (THANKS!) now we are getting to the EAD and AP part. and we have a couple of questions.
1. are both EAD and AP only valid for a year? i think i've seen from somewhere that AP may be valid for two. is that true? I've read a lot on this forum about folks renewing EADs, so i think EAD is only valid for a year and i'm fine with that. i guess i will just have to renew every 6 months (taking into account of 6 month waiting period) or so.
2. we haven't applied for these three forms yet. so we'll be paying $1010 for the whole thing. does anyone know if it costs anything to renew either EAD or AP under this new price scheme?
3. a question on AP specifically. on the form, it asks us when and where we are planning to go. as matter of fact, we don't know yet. does that mean we can't and shouldn't apply for AP now? i've read on the forum that some folks just put in "for emergency uses" for the reason. what about "Date of Intented Departure" and "Expected length of stay" in Part3 of the form?
4. this may be obvious to some of you, but the sample form confuses me a little bit here. for Part3 on I-131 (AP), the form tells me to skip to part7 directly after answering first three questions. i assume that means i don't need to check those checkboxes in question 4 and 5. however the sample form did check those boxes. or should i follow the direction or the sample form?
5. Part4 on AP. it doesn't say to fill out this section "only if you are...". so should i fill this section? or should i jump to section 7 as indicated in part3? if i do need to fill in this section, my question in #3 applies. what do i do? if i don't need to fill in part4. great!

my then-fiancee-now-wife (yayyy!) Fiona is in the same boat as this post described. however, Fiona does not have DS3025 form. she's submittted everything at POE. so my question is that if there is no DS3025, how would civil surgeon transfers data to I-629A? would Fiona have to take all Vaccination shots all over again? if so, does anyone know how much that would cost? once she joined to my health insurance, can we just get the shots through my family doctor? i think that'd be cheaper... but if i do that, i still need to take the result to Civil Surgeon to get a copy of I-629A form, right?
another off-topic question. i've seen from somewhere that the $1010 AOS application fee includes I764 and I-131 fee. is that true? i can't seem to find that article/statement anymore. can someone in the know point me to the right location?

i just want to express my joy here. i just called my fiancee. she's in Guangzhou right now, just finished her interview with the VO. the result, pink (or rather red-orange-ish) slip! i can finally have a good night sleep. yayyy!
while i was on the phone with her, she realized that VO didn't take our I-134 form. she's a little bit worried that this "mistake" may delay getting her passport back in two days. can someone who's been through the interview (in China) tell me whether the consulate takes the form away or not?

this is more for the Chinese applicants and their US counterparts. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Consulate in China follows any kind of rule when assigning interview date. i'm asking this question because it seems that Fiona's (my fiancee) interview was scheduled at a much later time than everyone's else who's in the same P3 time frame. for example, i know that several people sent in their P3 around the time same time as Fiona; some even sent theirs later than Fiona did, but they all got interview date prior to hers. if you take a look at my timeline, you'd notice I've been in this K1 thing for a quite long time (longer than almost all of you). it seems that every step takes way longer than others. am i just this unlucky??
i'm the worrying-type. i always thought to myself that there is something suspicious with my or fiona's files. the consulate needs more time to investigate everything. and this in turn means potential visa rejection. am i worrying too much?
i know there is an old Chinese saying, basically says everything good will eventually come, at a (much) later time. i just hope my long wait time would eventually translate to successful interview and getting the visa quick for Fiona.

i've done some searching around on this forum and found some articles that indicate people are OK to use expired forms during their interview. my question is that has anyone done so at the Chinese Consulate in GuangZhou? My fiancee got her P4 yesterday. the Consulate mailed the package out on 8/1. the "strange" thing is that pretty much all the forms in P4 expire on 7/31! Don't the consulate know that their forms expire and they should mail us the new ones? i'm just a little paranoid and want to double check with you all.

i've seen some similar topics on this forum before, but i didn't see the exact thing i'm looking for (searching function doesn't allow me search for "w2"), so i apologize for the dups if there is already one out there.
my fiancee in China is wondering if she needs my original copies of W2 forms for the interview. right now she's waiting for her p4 and she's trying to gather as much documents as she can. i've already sent her *copies* of all my legal documents, W2, citizenship, financial information, etc. are copies of them enough for the consulate? is the consulate really gonna bother to question the validity of all those copied docs and ask for the original ones?
for those who's passed interview, what kind of originals have you been asked for?
in order to be sure the docs get to her, i actually took a week of vacation and flew to China and handed the package to her myself. now if i really need to mail the originals to her, i'm worried that the mail could get lost. what would i do if it really got lost on the way?

I just did this yesterday. I bank with Wachovia and HSBC (but this one is an online bank only). When I went to Wachovia, they were very helpful. The man told me that they have templates saved for these sort of situations and he's had to do affadavit of support letters before. He just had to change the names and the banking information to be specific for me.
The only problem was that he couldn't give me a "average annual deposit" he couldn't put a number on it for me, because although it lists all my deposits into my account, some may not be "income" but may instead be, refunds, rebates, or something other than "income" (i hope that makes sense he made it very clear to me and I understood his point).
So instead, he wrote me a letter with the two other specifics needed and said that I should just get all my statements from the past year because those lists my deposits, it just doesn't add up the numbers for the consulate. He says that he's seen other people do that before and just bring in the statements with the I-134 form and it was okay.
But he did the letter within like 10 minutes for me onto a letterhead, and ordered a year's worth of statements.
I don't have any advice for the online banking situation. I'm still working on that one. I figure I'm just going to call them up and ask for a letter over the phone and if it costs money, it shouldn't be too much. =/

hi, serendipitous, did you have to pay for your statements? i just got a reply from my local bank. they want to charge me $5 for each statement. that's $60 total just for whole bunch of paper i can print online. alhtough they've agreed to sign each page for me, but do you think it's worth the cost?

another request for a quick question.
i've finally received my NOA2 (yayyy!), now i'm in the process of gathering all supporting documents for I-134. one of the required documents for I-134 is the bank statements. on 134, it states:
Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits
my question is that does the statement(s) have to come from an office at the bank? can i just print the statement straight from my bank's website? i don't have problem driving to my bank and asking someone to give me a statement (thus "statement from an officer"), but what's the difference? also, my problem is that the bank i have the most money deposited in is a "internet-only" bank. it's the Citibank online branch (i.e. e-saving). it's not possible for me to drive to their branch and ask for a copy from an officer. so what do i do now?
any help would be appreciated.

my fiancee asked me about this question today and i had no idea so i'm pulling some ideas off you guys.
my fiancee went to London for her master degree a couple of years ago. after that she went back to China. she's wondering if she needs to get her diploma (already in English) notarized in case the Chinese consulate doesn't approve it. what do you think, does she need to do that?
also, would it be beneficial for her when she looks for a job in the States if she gets the diploma notarized? Do companies here require some kind of government official proof of any foreign (including Britain) diploma during hiring process?

For people who called USCIS to check their status and talked to an actually person, did that give you another touch? I guess I'm asking if when you talk to someone on the phone, does that mean they touch your file?
i don't think calling would update/touch on your case. at least that wasn't the case for me the first x number of calls.

yeah, TracyTN, Gemma & Jim, how's your cases going? has yours been touched? if not, you should call USCIS and ask for the real progress on your case. eventually you will find someone who knows how to open up your files and take a look what's going on. i called USCIS many times before, only the guy from yesterday (or was it Monday?) knew how to "work the system" and told me that my case's in the final FBI reviewing stage. on the phone, i think you need to choose "changing address", then "have other questions or concerns" option in order to talk to a representative.

after four excruciating mouths of waiting, my case's finally touched today!!! it's the very first time my case got updated since Oct '06.
now let's see when i can actually get my NOA 2 package in the mail.

i don't mean to stir the pot or upset anyone. i'm just glad that my fiancee's last name is the same as mine! one of the benefits for being Chinese and have a common Chinese last name! yayyy. one less thing for me to worry and (potentially) argue with my fiancee.

i called USCIS today and finally got someone knowledgeable on the phone. he told me my case is now in the final stage of FBI checking so i should be expecting my NOA2 soon. yayyy!!!! i'm not sure why the FBI checking is taking so long though, probably because i changed my name at some point. i read somewhere that if the applicant/petitioner has had a name change, the FBI checking part would take longer for more thorough inspection. i hope my current name is not on one of their black/watch list. 'cause if that's the case, it'd take even longer for the Bureau to clear my name.
now i can relax a bit knowing i'm gonna get my NOA2 soon. :-)

I normally am more patient than this, but after seeing many Oct/Nov fliers have got their NOA2, I can't help but panic. thanks all for the kind words. i'll keep my hopes up.
