  1. My wife and I got married in the US last year. She has now gotten her green card with her updated last name. She needs to fly back overseas for a few weeks. What name do we use for her leaving the country? Her Green card has her new last name, but her German passport still has her maiden name. We don't know what to use on the airline tickets that require a "goverment issued photo id".

While she is over there she will get a new passport with her new last name. If she goes back to Germany using her maiden name, will she have problems coming back since all her "ids" will be the new last name, but the airline ticket still has her maiden name.

    Quite a dilema......

    thanks for your time!!

  2. Hi,

I provided the same A# on all the applications. I only have one. I have the pdf forms, so I know I put the right number. On the approval notices, and my AOS appointment letter, they all have a new A# I've never seen before. Thats what I'm scared about.

    Thanks for responding...

I agree with Yodrak... I had diffrent A# on all my applications as I applied for I-130,AOS & EAD at the same time, I have only one now, the one on my Greencard....

  3. Hi,

I filed for 485, g325a,i130,i693,i765, i864. For some reason, the A# is now different on all the approval notices for the ead, and the advanced parole document along with the biometric. I've double checked what we sent in, and I entered it correctly. Would your A# change for a last name change (got married) or because I filed all these forms at once? Our 485 interview is on Monday so this is a little nerve racking. I tried to call USCIS but they say I have to make an appointment to talk about the case at the local uscis. They said they can only look at the status, not specifics of the case.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Argh!!

  4. Hi,

I'm double checking everything before I send in my mountain of papers for my wifes AOS and found a little catch. On form I-765 page 5, it requires me to send in "A copy of your last EAD (front and back)". I'm sending this in for my wife (she is from Germany), which is currently under F1 status and has her OPT. The school filled out her EAD and sent it in. The only thing she received back was her OPT Card "Employment Authorization Card". Do they want a copy of the front and back of the card or do I need to go to the school and see if they have a copy of the original application for the OPT ?

    Thanks,

    jamie

  5. Hi,

I'm getting ready to send in the paperwork for my wife on her AOS. I just wanted to make sure I have the fees right...

    First our background.

Im a natural born US citizen. She entered in as an F1 student from Germany and has graduated and has six months left on her OPT. We got married in the states in September.

Here are the forms I am sending in one giant package. I have to send a check for each form right for a total of 4 checks? Not just one giant check?

i485 (Applicaton to Register for Permanent Residence)= $325.00

    biometrics fee= $70.00

    Total for check 1 = $395.00

    i130 (Petition for Alien Relative)=$190.00

    Total for check 2 = $190.00

g325a (Biographic Info for me) =$0.00

g325a (Biographic Info for her) =$0.00

    i864 (Affidavit for Support) =$0.00

    i693 (Medical Examination) =$0.00

    i131 (Application for Travel)=$170.00

    Total for check 3 = $170.00

    i765 (Employment Authorization Document)=$180.00

    Total for check 4 = $180.00

Total amount of fees = $935.00

Am I right, or dead wrong???

    Thanks,

    j

  6. Hi,

Im a natural born us citizen living with my wife in the usa. I'm filling out the paperwork to get her status as a permanent resident.

I'm filling out a g325a for myself and on the part that says:

This form is submitted in connection with an application for:

    1. Naturalization

    2. Status as Permanant Resident

    3. Other Specify___________

Would I check 2? Since I'm sending this in with an application to change her status as pr.

Also, do I sign the "signature of applicant" or does she on my g325a?

    Thanks,

    j

    I checked "2" on both my and hubby's G-325A.

You should sign your G-325A, your wife should sign hers.

Thanks for the reply...... What about the Big Bold Outline Box that says "Applicant" Be sure to put your name and Alien Registration Number in the box outlined by heavy border below. I don't have a alien number. Talk about confusing.

Family Name Given Name Middle Name Alien Registration Number

  8. Hi,

Another newb question. I am the only sponsor of my wife. On form i864 part 3 question 8 it says:

    8. "Open box for checkmark" I am sponsoring the principal immigrant in Part 2 above.

"Open box for checkmark" Yes "Open box for checkmarK" No (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors)

I figured I just do the first checkbox. But now I think I need to check the second checkbox for "yes". Does the (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors) only apply to the "NO" checkbox or that "yes" and "no".

    These forms are so confusing.

  9. Hi,

Im a natural born us citizen that got married to my wife from germany in Missouri. When sending in the AOS forms, we were told to send them to the Direct mail address in Chicago. On the I-130 form Question C22 it asks:

Your relative is in the US and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at USCIS office in ____________City ___________State.

We live an hour from Kansas City, so I figured I would stick in the local USCIS office in KC. But we were told to send the I485 and I130 to Chicago. Do I stick in Chicago, IL or KC,MO?

Just want to get it right!!

    Thanks,

    j
