I filed I-130 petition for my mother as a US citizen last July, 2018 (mother is living in India and will have the interview in India).  I received the 1-797 receipt notice with a priority date of July 24, 2018.  I have not submitted the I-864 form, affidavit of support yet, should I send it now or wait for further communication from the National Visa Center.  Currently USCIS is processing April, 2018 applications for I-130 petition for immediate relatives.

If I file for my mother for US permanent residency in USA from Houston, Texas area, generally how long is it taking.   My mother lives in India and her immigrant visa interview will be in Mumbai, India.      I am a US citizen.  I was told it takes about 6 months, is it true or does it take longer.

I intend to file direct consular processing (I-130 petition) for my mother in US embassy in India.  Do you have to live in India for longer than 6 months.  I visit India often and have OCI, but generally do not stay more than 4 to 5 weeks.  Is that a requirement?
