Hope that helps too.

THE two Swedes who took advantage of our laws and abused our women must face the full extent of our laws. If proven guilty, deportation is not enough. But what if one of our own, say a Filipina, makes a mockery of the laws of a foreign land? Should she not also be subjected to the punishment commensurate to her crime in that foreign land?
Last week, The Gold Star Daily featured the sad fate that befell on one Thomas Hunt, an American, in the hands of a Filipina identified as one Janelaze. Thomas married a young Janelaze who was too young to be his granddaughter. Janelaze could have been motivated by her obsession for the “green card.” But when he sent Thomas here in Cagayan de Oro and promised to follow him later, she has no one to blame for suspecting that she was only after his money and that green card.
More so when it was reported that Janelaze ran off with another man as soon as Thomas came to the Philippines. He was hospitalized and eventually died penniless. Now her aunt identified as one Grace Songcuya, an employee of one of the branches of courts here, wants the wives of expatriates here in the city to pay his medical and funeral expenses. She yelled at a group composed of these wives who wanted to pay their respect as the body laid in a funeral home. She accused them of soliciting donations and pocketing the proceeds.
These wives who are degrees much, much better dignified and honorable than her niece, are members of the Expats’ Ladies Charities. They bonded together to support their husbands and opted to stay here with their husbands. They never abandoned their loved ones and remained faithful to them. One of their purposes is to be of help to any expatriate who may be in dire need of help or attention. The group admitted they solicited funds to buy medicines and other items that Thomas needed while he was in the hospital. A portion was given to the Songcuyas contrary to Grace’s claim.
They also admitted that they turned over only a portion of their funds to relatives of Thomas’s wife. The funds were for Thomas and not for Grace Songcuya. If these ladies did not entrust the funds later to the Songcuyas, Grace should ask her niece and herself why.
Grace Songcuya, an employee of the court, told an expat to answer a “summon” and for him to go to court. The “summon” turned out to be that of Grace’s––and Grace herself subjected them to questioning. And I thought judges were the ones who have the power to summon people to court!
Grace did not only libel these ladies at a funeral home, she also had the temerity to abuse her position as a government employee by making herself look like she has the authority to issue “summons.” And she had the gall to demand an accounting of the ladies’ funds for Thomas!
Why won’t she ask instead an accounting of Thomas’s money––pension funds included––from her own niece who allegedly ran off with another man while her husband was struggling for life here?
And do you know that Janelaze and her new boyfriend wrote the expats’ wives an apology from Virginia, US, for what her family did to the ladies? I suggest Grace do the same thing. These expats are here in our city and have not broken any law. I cannot say the same thing of her niece who allegedly married Thomas to speed up her want for a green card.
Now the expats are seeing a lawyer to explore what they can do to defend themselves from Grace. They are also informing the US Embassy to note that Thomas has already died, and that the pension checks should be held. They are also giving notice to the US immigration bureau that somebody is living in the US without valid reasons and maybe, with spurious documents.

Why do I have this feeling that somebody here is a relative to someone... If you all know what I mean.
The fact that the wife is enjoying the leisure of being with her boyfriend in Va. instead of caring for her husband - or at least be there during his last dying days - is enough for me to think of her as heartless. There may be another side of this story, but still, you took the vows of in sickness and health, etc. when you got married and you are supposed to take the vows in your heart if you truly love the person you married to. From what I see, she could be a "fairweather wife" then.
You read my mind exactly!!!
Yes, everyone has their own good sides and bad sides but if you were given a chance with all resources would you still say "NO" to it? The wife is the immediate relative, the stepson (her mom died long time ago) was waiting for the SPA (maybe someone will not understand what SPA means - SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY) I suggest read all the group e-mail conversations and you will picture out what happened. The siblings of the late Tom live in other states and has no idea where he was as they have no communication for quite a while. The cousins were asking help to bring him back to the US but once again they can't do it without the wife's help. The VA (not Virginia state but for Veterans Affair if i'm right) can't send him back home because he is not consider "POOR" to simplify the term they used in the news. He gets his pension thru US joint account which the wife also have an access as she has her own atm.
Now, if you're husband is dying whether he is old or young would you rather choose your green card than him? This is simply means there is no love in this but status is more important. Or maybe we can say oh he's dying he can't do anything for my greencard so let it him die. Denying her DAUGHTER take note not son (check the picture in IMEEM it's in the woman's profile) in the USCIS is already a RED FLAG what about I CANT GO HOME BECAUSE MY GC has not arrived yet but she has an extension letter so means she can travel outside the US and can GO BACK. But oh yeah WE HAVE NO MONEY FOR ROUND TRIP TICKET, what about those who are willing to buy her ticket, why did she refuse? Tagalog idiom " PAG GUSTO ME PARAAN PAG AYAW ME DAHILAN" does it apply here?

This reminded me of an American guy I met in Makati as I was walking along Herrera. I crossed the street and HIs guy, tall, wearing glasses and kinda unruly and thin but with kind face approached me...and I was surprised..he was asking for alms. He said he just changed his shirt (but the new shirt is stll dirty) I talked to him for a bit and he said he needs money to get by and he also mentioned that his wife or actually ex-wife left him for another guy. I asked where he is staying and he said anywhere around and i asked where are his belongings and told me he left them at his friends house and he can't stay there because they are all cramped. He was holding a plastic bag and showed me the Bible which he says he uses to get by...I mentioned about getting a job in the Philippines even as a call center agnt and he said he tried but they wouldnt let him work coz he doesnt have work permit..and about US embassy..he said he didnt have enough money and are still working on his papers..he doenst even have enough for a plane ticket.. handed him a bill and bid him my prayers..wshing there was something more I can do to help.......I couldnt forget him that whole day....I was sooo angry about that Filipina who left him stranded here. After reading this post of Supladita...I am wonderingof the Mr. HUnt is the same guy i met...I hope not..coz I wojld feel soo terrible..wishing there is more I can do to help. I met this guy like last year i think o really cant remember...
I hope Karma would come to those Users here to get a greencard or citizenship. I abhore uer-friendly and selfish self centered people.
I hope Jenalze will be deported back to the Philippines and be banned in the US for life..........
I don't think it was him as he loves his wife so much and until his last breath he does not believe his wife betrayed him. He has so much love in his heart, his last wish is to see his wife and take him back to the US. You can check out the video though if it was him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGVDfS2kOx8

Hunt widow could lose green card, get booted out from US
By JIGGER JERUSALEM - Correspondent Updated May 16-17, 2009 12:00 AM
JANELAZE Hunt could end up losing her green card if proven that she lied to US authorities about her having a daughter when she applied for a visa and subsequently, a permanant resident status.
Bureau of Immigration director for northern Mindanao Florentino Diputado said the US government ‘‘is very strict when it comes to immigration laws.’’
He said lying to US immigration authorities about not having a child could mean serious consequences on one’s status as a green card holder.
‘‘If it can be proven that Janelaze violated their law, then there’s a chance she would be deported,’’ Diputado said.
A message posted by Mrs. Hunt on a ‘‘Yahoo Answers’’ page a year ago suggests that she denied that she had a daughter and lied to her husband, the late Thomas J. Hunt, about it apparently just to be able to go and stay in the US.
Diputado said he believed that the Hunt affair was an ‘‘isolated case.’’
‘‘Filipino women are generally very caring and loving to their husbands, be they foreigner or not,’’ said Diputado. ‘‘Filipino women are good wives.”
Diputado said there were also times when Filipino wives complained to the bureau about alleged abuses. He said there were actual cases Filipino wives who went to the immigration bureau here to complain because they were handled roughly by their expat-husbands.
The ‘‘usual reason,’’ according to Diputado, for the alleged abuses: jealousy.
He said he advised the complaining wives to press charges.
‘‘But things got patched up right away... Complaining wives normally do not come back to the office,’’ said Diputado.
But generally, expatriates here have good relationships with their Filipino wives, he said.

Why her husband died? because he is too old and its time, or he died because of the desease?
We only heard one side of the story...perhaps the Filipina husband while spending his time in Philippines has a mistress (while he was not sick at that time) and the Filipina wife was mad at him and desided to have a Filipino man herself and flew to the US.....however I , agree that the wife was very heartless did not take care her husband while he was so sick at that time.
Try reading the whole story and it will open your eyes. http://goldstardailynews.com/content.php?id=3347 With the pastor's testimony I can tell how much he loves his wife but of course that's based in my opinion. I cannot assume he has has mistress in the Philippines because he lives with his wife family. Check out all the links related to CDO newspaper to get more information.
"Hunt sacrificed his finances for Janelaze
By HERBIE GOMEZ - Editor in chief Updated May 14, 2009 12:00 AM
THE administrator of a pastor’s office in Thomas J. Hunt’s church in Arizona said the American was so in love with his young Cagayanon wife that he sacrificed his finances for her and her family in Cagayan de Oro.
‘‘It was a sad situation with Tom (Hunt) and his finances,’’ said Pam Doerr, the pastor’s office administrator at Valley Baptist Church in Yuma, Arizona.
Hunt, 72, died at the Polymedic General Hospital here last April 26. He had been confined there since Jan. 29. His Cagayanon wife Janelaze who promised to move with him here from the US never came––not even during Monday’s funeral at the Cagayan de Oro Gardens.
Many have questioned how Janelaze spent Mr. Hunt’s money. The American septuagenarian, who entrusted his bank account to his wife, had a monthly pension of US$1 thousand.
Mrs. Hunt’s mother Linda however told a reporter earlier that the American’s pension was not even enough for his medical needs.
But even before Hunt was hospitalized here, he already had financial difficulties––allegedly because of Janelaze.
Doerr said in an e-mail: ‘‘Even before he and Janelaze got married he was sending money over to the Philippines for every little thing. Her family needed money for medical bills, then needed a new appliance, whatever they needed, he would send money over there to them.’’
Doerr said when Hunt brought Janelaze to Arizona where they subsequently married, the American continued to send money over to his wife’s family here.
Hunt wanted a wife who would be with him but instead ‘‘she would go off to different places supposedly to work and help him financially, but that never happened.’’
Doerr said Hunt got deeper and deeper in debt and took out a couple of second mortgages on his home, didn’t read the fine print and was stuck with huge payments that he couldn’t afford.
She said Hunt was drawing social security and working but couldn’t make both ends meet.
For some time, Doerr said, Janelaze worked for minimum wage at different places but ‘‘she didn’t like it.’’
Doerr said Janelaze would be gone for weeks at a time. There was a time, she recalled, when Janelaze was gone for several weeks and Mr. Hunt didn’t have the money to bring her back to Yuma.
‘‘The church paid for her way back to Yuma with the stipulation that she would stay here. That lasted just a couple of weeks and gone again. Always, to work somewhere else and send money back to help Tom,’’ said Doerr.
She said Hunt borrowed so much money from so many people that ‘‘he really did burn his bridges.’’
Doerr said Hunt was repeatedly advised by people to stop sending money to Janelaze’s family in Cagayan de Oro because it reached a point when he could no longer pay for his medication.
Before Hunt left for Cagayan de Oro, the couple paid a druggist for some medicine. The check given to the druggist bounced, according to Doerr.
Doerr said, ‘‘He lost his house, moved into an apartment and was almost evicted from there. His cousin bailed him out of that (one of numerous times). Tom was a very lonely man and just wanted someone to love him. He thought that person was Janelaze.
‘‘Everyone could see what was going on except for him. He would get very angry if you said anything to him about Janelaze.
‘‘We were all praying that maybe things would work out for him in the Philippines. He was very excited about going. And when I heard that Janelaze didn’t go with him, I knew she wasn’t ever planning to go.’’
Doerr said Hunt used to be so good in handling money until he met Janelaze. "

Janelaze R. Hunt from Yuma ,Arizona

What about posting these pics with the love of her life (which is obviously not her husband)on the internet: http://goldstardailynews.com/content.php?id=3272 But Thomas Hunt is such a good person who loves his wife and put her on pedestal. But in time she will harvest what she sow.
And giving her husband a very sweet dedication on top of his coffin?
" But to show how much Mr. Hunt was ‘‘loved,’’ a basket of flowers was conspicuously placed on top of his white coffin with this dedication: ‘‘I miss you honey... Fr: your wife Jane Laze.’’
‘‘What an insult! What a farce!’’ snapped American Elmer Zink. ‘‘[it] makes me shiver.’’
Well did she really marry the old man with love or with the love of Green Card that is why she cannot come back to the Philippines to take her husband back to the US and get proper medication with many concern people offering a round trip ticket for them?
It sad that a fellow pinay did this and it will tarnish more our reputation but I believe that huge percentage of Pinays are good wives .

I am pretty sure he has some relatives or family back here in the US he ask help. I hope he will do that very soon before its' too late for him. I hope Karma await that lady.
He's already dead and buried by her family. When you check on the link the updates are on the dates above the website. It's very sad indeed but hopefully it will serve as lesson to many people.

Thomas Hunt of Yuma, Arizona has been left stranded in the Philippines by his wife, Janelaze. Mr. Hunt lies in a hospital near death while his wife lives with her boyfriend in Fairfax, VA.
Mr. Hunt brought his then fiancee, Janelaze Songcuya, here to the United States in December, 2005. They were married and resided in Yuma, Arizona. In May, 2008, Mr. Hunt and his wife planned a trip to the Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. Janelaze convinced Mr. Hunt to fly on ahead of her to the Philippines, saying she would join him later, after her green card extension arrived. After Mr. Hunt flew to the Philippines, his wife then moved to Virginia to live with her boyfriend.
Janelaze Hunt, never joined Mr. Hunt in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, and Mr. Hunt has been unable to return home because he has no money. Then, this past January, Mr. Hunt became very ill and was admitted to the Hospital and is currently lying in very grave condition, lacking the much needed and proper medical care that he so desperately needs to survive and hopefully, recover. Philippine Hospitals require payment in advance for services and medications. Mr. Hunt is only receiving the few medications that his friends can manage to buy.
His Story: http://zinkhome.net/tomhunt/tomhunt.html
Wife betrayed not only her husband, her daughter and the USCIS as well by lying to them. Do you think everything was planned? This is unbelievable. Oh well karma is waiting around the corner.

Hello fellow VJ'ers, first time newbe here. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to post this message, but I have to ask for some adivice. My fiance went for her medical yesterday, all was ok except the x-ray. She had to take 3 different x-rays because the doctor "saw something",but she wasn't specific. She told that it was a "spot" I don't know what the full details are as of yet, because its hard to talk to a crying woman
My question is that say it a type of lymphoma,is that grounds to deny a visa?? She is going back to the doctor tommorrow.
I understand that communicable diseases are, I.E. t/b, aids ect but this?? I have good medical coverage and now want to get over here faster than ever to nip this in the butt. ANY HELP / OPINIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED!! thanks
***************UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE**********
Well I guess my fiance passed her medical, she went back the following day,her x-rays were released to her and given back. Her interview was confirmed for Mach 11,2008. She did not have to take the sputnum test or any other. The passport was forwarded to the embassy,so I think this is a reall good sign. Thank GOD,hopefully all goes well
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT
Congratulations and good luck on her interview

My INFOPASS last Feb 15 was just fine. The lady said to wait, everything looks fine and it will take 6 more months to process since they are only processing Dec. of 2006 applicants. :
She said, if I didnt get my GC on June renew my EAD!!!! Wait! Wait! Wait!
Washington DC office please hurry up

HI Jim, Rachel is my friend and I know that you are such a lucky man to have her as a wife. I've learned about this from her and I really feel bad but you know what? Do not lose hope, it's not denial it's only delay of the process. When everything is clear ST. Lukes will be the one to reschedule her interview in the USEM. Soon, you will be together again I am positive for that.
-
To answer your survey, like many others here we bought my ticket a month before my interview. If you are confident enough you can go ahead and buy ticket.

Im sorry to ask this but Im just curious, How many pieces of bags/luggage are needed by a petite filipina who will be migrating to US or other country? Im sure you wont leave the country without your bare essentials like shoes, clothes and others because you will have difficulty finding your size like a size 4 or 5 heeled shoes (like mine
) . And also , is locally made, hardside luggage a good choice? Have a blessed day/night to all vj members
simplygem
First have a safe trip!
Make your trip light and comfortable, for carry on I only brought my purse with the documents as they will open it in the airport. For check in it depends on the airline limit. Like Continental Airline you can have 2 check in baggage (32kilos each allowed). If you intend to use your baggage once only it's fine to get a local one.
You are right, im petite too and so hard for me to find my size here. I use to go to junior section but still can't find the right style and size. Additionally, don't worry if you have many connecting flights since you wont pick up your luggage every lay over. In my case, I had 4 stopover (YES! 4 coz the airline change my flight at the moment I was in the airport checking in). I only seen my baggage in Hawaii to clear for immigration, after that in my Final destination.

Good luck to your interview. You can visit my web for reference: http://www.freewebs.com/avee02/k1aos.htm
I would suggest to separate original copies of B.C., NBI, AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT, CENOMAR and just paper clip it.

Jup1ter and Cecy the 3 of us are on the same boat. I never heard anything from USCIS after I received my EAD on September. My NOA date is Jul 5th, too frustrating since no update no nothing even RFE. My online status is just RECEIVED and PENDING no transfer to any local office or whatsoever.
Tonight I filed for an INFOPASS for February 15 at 8am in Fairfax. So far I got a job but we can't move if we do not have GC. VA DMV is really strict, they wont issue you a state id, drivers learners permit. Wahhhhhh!!!
this is so sad...
me too, I applied for a state ID but I was refused coz as to them, I need to adjust my status.
Hi Sis Lira, goodluck on ur upcoming interview. I will keep you guys posted bout my INFOPASS on the 15th.
hmm that's weird because I was able to get my state id right away when I got here in US. Just gave them my passport, MC, BC and my hubby's driver's license. I wasn't able to get my driver's temporary permit right away though since they require for my SSN and we're on K3 so I waited for my EAD first, have everything done now though.
I think it varies per state, here in VA if you apply for state id it's only valid same as your i-94 date. So after that i have to wait for GC to get one.

Thank you Cecy for adding my timeline. Hope our new year's present would be an update of our AOS.

I am also planning for an INFOPASS. The lady I spoke to last week said that my case is in Washington DC. How could that be? She also said that the processing date for AOS is MARCH. I do not know if i have to believe her but better to sched for an infopass.
The Washington DC Field Office is actually in Fairfax, VA. My husband is also a Virginia filer.
Yup! I think this is where we had our biometrics. When do you plan to have an INFOPASS?
My husband called the NCSC number and this is what they told him:
"The lady I spoke with said that in our area, they are still processing applications from March. She said we should just wait another 2 months and if we haven't heard anything by then, that we can give them a call back. She also said that unless we want really detailed info about our case, we don't need to make an infopass appointment. We can just call the phone number and get info that way."
Pretty much the same thing you were told, Supladita. So on one hand, it's a little comforting to hear that there is nothing wrong with our case, the Washington DC area is just so busy that they haven't gotten to July applications yet. On the other hand though, don't they tell EVERYONE to wait 2 months after calling before checking again? Also, I thought they encourage Infopass appointments as opposed to calling for information? Anyhow, we decided not to make an Infopass appointment at this time. I had tried to find some dates initially though, and it seems that Infopass is pretty booked up at the moment, at least in terms of "case services follow-up". The website said "At this moment, Infopass appointments are not available in your area."
Just a little something to give people a laugh, my husband also said about the call to NCSC:
"On the automated phone system part, at the end of one message, it says ... I'm paraphrasing here... 'Whoa! Okay, we bumped the cost of applications up so we got a TON of people applying before then. We're a bit behind here!'"
HAHA
Thank you so much! At least now I'm not alone. Hhahaha, it's funny at least they are being upfront even on the machine.

Hi everyone,
Are K1 applicants still need to pay document verification? If yes, which bank and how?
