DO you know what we need to bring to the Social Security office to apply for a SS number?
-
My husband arrived here on the K-1, and I wondered if we could apply for a Social Security card for him even before we send in all the AOS paperwork.
Does anyone know?

I couldn't find the "attached list" of sergeons in the Bay Area, California. Does anyone know where I should look?
Another question: What exactly does he need to do at the civil sergeon's office?

Hi! To find the I-693 document, go to the USCIS home page and click on Immigration Forms. You'll see it there.

Oh! Thank you!
Here are the documents that I think we will need to file, including the optional ones:
-G-325A
-I-485
-I-864
-I-765
-I-693
-I-131
Does this look correct?

Hello everyone! My husband and I just got married after having gone through the K-1 visa process.
Now we are waiting for our certified license to arrive (4-6 weeks) and then starting the AoS process.
My first question is this: Does anyone know if the I-130 Petition for an Alien Relative is needed? The Visa Journey overview does not list it, but the USCIS website does. Ideas?

Actually I did read the guides, but I found that most of them stop at the point of having finished the interview.
The first part-getting him here- was pretty easy to figure out. I only got on this website recently, right before his interview!
I have been working with the info on the USCIS website, but I just thought that some people on this site might have first-hand knowledge which might make it easier for me.
Thanks for that forum- I'll check it out now.

What is AOS, exactly? Who are the guides? : )

Hi everyone! Good news: My fiance arrived here 2 weeks ago after a 14 month separation. We got married on Thursday of last week!
I have no idea of what happens now- can anyone enlighten me? It's so nice to just be together, and I'm dreading more beurocracy and paperwork!
Can anyone tell me where to go to find out about the next steps we need to take?

We were missing the DS 157, the FS 257a, and the second copy of the DS 156.

Hey everyone. My fiance just got back from his interview this morning in Rio de Janeiro, and turns out he was missing some required documents. We have had our interview rescheduled for January 31st, and I am trying to get the missing documents together. I have a few questions, and am hoping that someone will have the answers.
My first question is this: Is the "Sworn Statement" the DS-230 part II?
Also, does anyone know how long after the interview that my fiance will be able to travel? He has his interview at 8am on January 31, and the ticket that I bought is for 8pm Feb 3. Will he have his visa and his passport and be ready to go by then?
My final confusion is this: Are the "Affadavit of Support" and the "I-134" the same thing?
Thanks, everyone. This has been a difficult and horrible morning, but hopefully we will figure everything out and get it right the next time around.

My fiance has a xerox of the front page of my passport, thank goodness! Hopefully that will be enough. I will fax a copy of my birth cert. just in case.

Hello everyone!
I was just reading over the document requirements for the interview, and I am having second thoughts about the birth certificate requirement. Will my fiance need a copy of my birth certificate too, or just his own? The requirement says "yourself, your spouse", but since we are not spouses yet does that mean only if your spouse is a beneficiary too?
It is too late to send anything down to him. What should I do?

Phew! I had a momentary panic attack. The last thing that I could handle after 9 months of waiting would be more delay!!!
Thank you all for your very calming responses.
(This website is so cool! I just discovered it today and already it has calmed me down! Incredible!)

My approval notice expired on 11/24/06, but the interview is scheduled for January 16th!
What should I do?

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are at the final stages of the process- he will be going to his interview in 2 weeks. We don't know any details about the interview process- Does anyone have any info that might help us be more prepared?
Thanks!

Does the SS card mean that he will be allowed to work?
