Ok I have been a green card holder since December 2007. I have had continuous residency but i have visited Canada numerous times about(10), just 3 day visits but i have not kept an inventory of my travel dates. How should treat this question since I don't have the dates or the exact number of times. Any dates i put on here will be a guesstimate. WIll that be a big deal? Thanks.

He never was put on the lease bc I had gotten the place. He was working in Canada at the time and it was even before we were married. We didn't think of anything of it bc we want a house. From what the letter we received said it was basically prooving address for both of us.
We have been together for 7 years and married 3. So I guess we just need more evidence prooving that. I just thought it was of the 3 years but we have stuff we can go back and send as well. I would hope if we sent more evidence in we would be ok.
We live in NH and only have federal tax returns. We deal with the VT service center but have an office in Manchester, NH that we go to.
I was approved today and I was not on the lease or any bill. I too was working in Canada till my green card was approved. I used drivers license showing we lived together and bank statements. I also had two letters from in laws and that was pretty much. I did not even send my daughters birth certificate. The two of you have to own something be it a bank account or credit cards, cell phones. Anything that shows both of you and address is required to establish that you live together.
Good luck it will happen. Canada is a great place to live too. I'm for one i'm thinking of going back.

What I think Gary_and_Alla are saying is that his debt becomes your debt when you are married. His awful credit score, as a result of the maxed out credit cards, becomes your awful credit score. This is going to affect you more than you think. I think you need to stand up to him and protect your financial future. What he is doing is simply reckless. Is this how you want to begin your marraige? Heavily in debt?

People are not realizing that your Fiance is in India.. Credit from India Does not follow you around to the US. They are under no jurisdiction to collect here.

What kind of work are you looking for? what city?
I'm in Cincinnati Ohio. I have a bachelors degree in information technology management. I worked for TELUS Mobility as a business Analyst and i'm looking for work along those lines. I will even consider help desk or technical support. I just want to work. I have family in The Virginia, Maryland, Dc area and they are encouraging us to move there.... I'm staying put for now.

3 months isn't a very long time to get settled anywhere! Give yourself some more time before you start thinking about packing up and going back home! Sheesh, even I didn't start thinking that til I was here a year or so!
I don't think she's thinking of packing up and going home. I think we all have these days though where we feel the way the OP does. Its how they feel, doesn't matter how long they've been here.
I think you capture exactly what i feel. Of course I have no intensions at the meoment of packing and going. I have a 9 month old child. IS just that I underestimated the fact that it was a different country. I have been a frequent visitor to the US for the last 10 years but visiting and living is different and that was what I under estimated. Plus the Job thing really troubles me. I had a great job in Canada that paid very well and the work was exciting. Thanks for all the encouragement.

Well...sometimes I do yes.
Other times I am okay with it. I try to always see the brighter side and be positive, but its hard. I miss my mom so much. I miss my family. I don't really have any friends or anything here...as of yet.
There are times where I ask myself if it was all really worth it...and the answer is always yes, but its hard. No one said it was going to be easy. I wish we lived closer to the border.
Miss my mom to and my sisters I had two younger ones who looked up to me for Guidance...

I just imported my car in an inland port in Ohio. It too k 5 minutes i gave him my passport, ownership and the compliance letter. The officer filled it out ask for the value expected the VIn number and that was it. The funny part is the officer from the cusstoms and border patrol did not know what CR1 VISA was and i was shocked when he asked me what was that visa for. good luck

There is no such thing as OVERSTAYING. There is no limit in the number of months a canadian is allowed in the US. Plus as a Canadian because you do not get an I94 the US has no clue when you depart and only knows when you re-enter. I know guys who are living in the states for years without status and goes to canada to renew Driver l and passport from time to time. My own case i was in the us from , january, March, April and fromMay- november when i went for my Interview. it did not even come upHas anyone out there stayed in the u.s. for the maximum 6 months stay (from canada)? If so, did you have any problems at your interview about spending so much time in the u.s. during the visa process?Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok i have a CR1 Visa but not the Green Card yet and i'm wondering where i could find my A#. The is an 8 digit number titled registeration number and i'm wondering if that is it. there is another 8 digit number in red with no heading and that is what's got me confused. Any suggestions?

My husband is a Chilean citizen but a PR (and currently residing in) Canada. Since Montreal is slow, as consulates go, could he opt for his processing to be completed in Santiago? (I don't know if Santiago is fast or not, but is this even an option?) The airfare is somewhat of a factor (normally around $1200 for round trip), but it would be money well spent if it saves several months.
It is possible I know there was a girl here who transfered to Europe and got hers completed months ahead. i think it was Poland or somewhere in eastern europe. check the main site fro processing time in Santiago.

So i crossed the broder today. i drove in from Toronto to Detroit. I arrived at the border about 11:30am. I spoke to the officer at the booth he gave me the pink slip and i headed to secondary. The guys made me unload my suit cases myself becuase he said it looked heavy. i met a lovely lady inside he took my documents and about 30 munites later she came back and took my finger print and then i sign the forms. She came back 10 munites later with passport in hand, she advised me of lifting the conditions on time and also to make sure i get the green card b4 the december 08 stamp in my passport. she wished me luck, welcomed me to the states and that was that. It all took about 40 minutes. I'm now home in cincinnati wih my wife and daughter, thanks to everybody. what a journey.

I got 2 do not open envelops and nothing else. i did my POE detroit wnd they were suprise that i had 2. As it turns out one was for K3, a visa i never followed up on .

Guys the package came today only 2 days after the interview. Needless to say we are ecstatic and life can now go on. Thanks to all those who helped in the process and answered my questions. This site made the process a bit less painless because as the saying goes misery loves company and it was comforting knowing we were not alone. Thank you very much VJ. I will be a VJer for life

Let's understand who is going to adjudicate the I-864 for you as that is who you must speak with, in this case it is NOT the USCIS so any answer you get from them may not be worth anything.
great bpoint ask Montreal becuse they will b making the final decesion. I had a co sponsor as a family member and the guys was not too happy my wife was not working but he looked at my father inlaws income and was satisfied

I stayed at Hotel, la Tour de Centre Ville. Not much about the hotel but i will recommend as it is very close and served the purpose. I arrived at the consulate at 7:27 i was the second person but an elderly couple sneaked in front of me and that was ok. I went through Security and was given the letter C. I went downstairs and the security guy came and took us upstairs. Up there I was the third person called. The lady was very kind and respectful. She took my Medicals (not the x-ray) passport and appointment letter along with 2 passport pictures. She asked me a few questions about where my wife worked and when we got married. She asked me to sit until she returned and when she did she returned my documents and did the finger printing. After that i was asked to sit and wait for the interview. About 20 minutes later i was called and asked to swear. After that another finger printing and then a few questions about where we met, what my wife does for a living. He commented on how hard my father-in-law (co sponsor) worked and he makes good money but works hard as he has 3 employers. He asked where i worked and what my plans were. He said he hope i get as good a job in the US as i have in Canada. He wished me luck and said I "I guess we are going to approve you today" he said i should expect my passport in about 2 weeks and that it will be done in the next 48 hours.
Thanks VJ as i felt very prepared because of the mountain of information we provide here. The whole process was very smooth and the interview itself was like 5 minutes. i was out by 9:30 checked out of the hotel and on the road by 9:45am. Thanks everyone.
Congrats!!!! Quick question though, how did to transport your documents into the consulate? I know they won't allow briefcases or valises, so how did you do it? An OC person like me will go crazy (well.. crazier) otherwise.
well that was the suprising part. The elderly couple actualy had a small briefcase and even a cell phone. They were ordered to open it and then shut the cell off. No fuss was made about it but the only thing it took them an extra 10 minutes or so to clear security. As for myself I had a clear Folder with all my stuff and I was done if a few minutes.
I was planning on going with the plastic accordian folder (like everyone else) but I was curious if they were going to allow a briefcase, since it makes carrying the paperwork so much easier for two parents who both have no b/c.
Stay away from the brief case. the plastic folder has a lot of compartments so may be get too of them. heck i did not even wear a belt, I left my cellphone and car keys in the hotel. try to be as simple as possible. make sure you have the right size of Envelop Get EXACTLY the size of the CANADA POST PREPAID ENVELOP THAT THEY REQUEST. Canada post does have 314mm X 394 so get that one and ONLY fill out the To field as they will stamp their address into the from field. You posted something last month that Canada does not the 314mm X 394 and we should instead purchase the 304.5mm by 381. That will be a mistake. They have the one the Emabssy requests.

My sister came to the US from Canada sponsored by her father and has a green card. She is under 18 and the father intended to apply for Citizenship but unfortunatly he died 2 days after she entered. My question is can she still file on her own? Thank
