I really can't work out what happened with the extension, might be a good idea to pass it by a Lawyer or post it on here with the personal information deleted.

Ok it certainly looks like a mistake but you can’t just assume it’s a mistake because it’s not what you asked for. These things are not automatic. And 3 friends who also had mistakes for the same thing, really? That’s quite a statistic for  uscis errors. Did you all understand when you applied that uscis was not necessarily going to give you what you asked for?

anyway all you can do if you want another B2 is apply, with the info you have. Bear in mind that there is certainly a risk you are denied if (1) you can’t prove it was a mistake or they determine (they will see on their system) that it actually wasn’t a mistake or (2) they decide your ties to where you are living now are too weak to grant you a visa, which is entirely possible given that you’ve only been back 6 months after 2.5 years in the US and you already want to go back again.

I tried called to the USCIS but unfortunately nobody ever helped me :( why I get the visa just for a day :o yes my friends has problem with the same one of them get visa for 2 months and other for one instead of 6 months but they stayed in USA and they get married so they doesnt need it figure it out those stuff. I don’t wanna apply for B2 but I thought I have too, I wanna just travel to visit my friends on August for 2 weeks I’ll have all the letters ready etc. so I just wanted found out what’s going on :( cause I don’t understand anything. Thank you

No I didn’t even the USCIS didn’t say anything but I have my 3 friends and it’s happed the same to them they they put wrong date. Of course I checked my I-94 but doesn’t say anything what will help me. Just date type and location of my arrivals and departures, nothing else.

    Days Overstayed - N/A

Days left to leave the country- N/A

Says- your traveler status is not available at this time. If you have not received results, you are not among the eligible travelers for the traveler compliance check st this time ... don’t understand .

Well have you got any confirmation from them that it was a mistake? Did you check your I94 online to see what it said?

For the record, there is no determined validity for a tourist visa, it's at the CO's discretion to grant it for 3 months, 1 year,  10 years max. But there is no minimum. My first visitor visa was for 1 year.

Thank you now I know . Thank you

How long were you granted though? You mention one day?

And who at the embassy made a mistake? Your first post is very confusing.

    Yes they made mistake unfortunately:(

your first post is very confusing

a timeline would help a bit, I think!

    When did your J1 expire?

when did you apply for the status change?

when did you leave the US?

And when did you recieve the approval letter

From what I understand is that you did get approved but you left one day before you got the approval?!

Anyways, I guess it doesn‘t matter you‘re back in europe and wanna travel to the US.. so you either apply for esta(if you qualify) or you apply for a tourist visa.

Neither of them is granted for sure!

and with you habing stayed in the US for quite a while lately, it mighg be denied!

Sorry for the confusing ... that’s why I’m trying help here. My J1 visa finished May 15 th 2017 I applied for B2 visa on April for six moths till November 15th and I left USA November 13th so I was in my country November 14th. And the letter came November 22 but they made mistake and they put wrong date - valid 11/22/2017 till 11/23/2017 😓

You requested a change of status from J1 to B2, that's what you got approved for.  You did not get approved for a B-2 visa.  You got approved for extending your stay in the US and change from J1 status to B-2 status (which is not a visa).

Apply for ESTA if you qualify.

Thank you very much finally I found out some helpful answers. Thank you.  What’s That mean day am I qualify ? Thank you

    So did you overstay?

Nop I stayed that time I applied for

You did not file for a B2 visa.  You filed to change your non-immigrant status while in the US to remain in the US.  There is no B-2 visa to place in your passport because you never filed for or received a B-2 visa.

If you want a B-2 visa, then you will have to file a DS-160 and go for an interview at a US Embassy/Consulate.

Okay, so when they sent me approval letter , Class - B2 is nothing for me. So I can apply normally just for esta visa ?

you didn't get the visa. They do not issue visa within the US.

You changed your status from J1 to visitor. You do not get a physical visa sticker.

And if you have traveled abroad and wish to return, you need to get another visa.

I thought that visa B2 are for 10 years . So I can just apply for ESTA , thank you

Maybe you applied for a change of status from J1 to B2 while in the US.

You are not in the US anymore so you do not have that status anymore.

It has nothing to do with applying for a B2 visa now.

So I can apply just for ESTA ? Better for me . Sorry for confusing but I really don’t know .. that’s why I’m here to find out what can I do

What did you file for?  You can file to change status, but you can not file from J1 to another visa while in the US.  What form did you use?

You may be confusing with a change of status vs getting a visa.

I applied in USA for B2 when my J1 visa finished and they approved and now I just need to put them to the passport so my question was is normal steps to made a appointment or so ... yes I’m confused with everything:( so many complications

Whether they will approve the visa or not depends on your ties to the UK.

From what you have posted with your trips to the USA it seems unlikely you will get the visa.

    Hello,

but it I already get the approved of B2 so I don’t get it where is the problem? And I cannot apply just for Esta right ? When my status is change. Thank you

You can certainly apply for a B Visa, with all that time in the US seems like it might be a long shot getting one.

So I’ll made an appointment and they should give me visa B2 to my passport right ? Should I preper myself for some questions etc. thank you

  15. Hello everyone,

please could you help me find out some my questions. I was living in USA 2 years with visa J1 then i changed them for visa B2 for another 6 months. On November I left USA to came back to Czech Republic and my host family received a letter with approved but just for one day, my luck as always someone made mistake however the embassy in Czech told me this should be okay. Then on February I saw that my status was denied didn’t get it what’s was wrong so I tried called to USCIS but they could help me cause they saw just the approved letter so resent the letter again and again I received the approval. Yesterday I checked the status again and was approved so I guess again some mistakes :( Now I need to found out how to put those visa to my passport cause I wanna travel to USA. I live in London by now so I need made a appointment to the American embassy and ask them for visa so they already gonna ask me about my journey to USA so I should have everything ready, right. Thank you very much for your help and advice.
