  1. Hello - I have a few questions for any couples where the petitioner is in the US and the beneficiary is in Japan:

I live in Florida and my fiancee is in Tokyo. I received NOA2 on 9/10/2018 in the regular mail. Then I received an email  on 10/3 from NVC that the contained a pdf copy of a letter addressed to my fiancee saying that the I-129 was approved and that they (the NVC) would now forward the petition to the consulate in Tokyo. The letter says that consulate will contact me (not her) when they are ready to process the petition. This seems strange.

    • If you received the notice from NVC that the petition was sent to the consulate in Japan, how long before you heard from the consulate?
    • In the timelines many people have a date for NVC received and for consulate received. I was never notified that the NVC received the petition from USCIS - did anyone else? And neither I nor my fiancee received notice from the consulate that they received the petition - did anyone else?
    • We are both wondering what the next step is and if there is something important we missed or are supposed to do.
    • She printed out the letter I received as an attachment to the email from NVC on 10/3 and was able to schedule both the police background check and the medical exam, and finished both of them on10/19. But neither of us has heard from the consulate yet. We see several couples who have already scheduled their final interview that received the NVC notice around the same time or after us, so we think there must be something we have to do.

Looking for any help you can provide.

    Thanks!
