  1. Hi!
So this is a bit of a long shot, but I'm really hoping someone has some advice or an idea for me.

I moved here in December 2018 and filed my AOS packet at the very beginning of January and it was received January 8, 2019 (i131 and i1765 included). I went for my biometrics appointment in February, and then haven't heard anything since. I've been paying attention to the dates for "outside of normal processing times" and as soon as I realized my file date was outside of it, I submitted the service request to have them look into it (this was Aug. 9). A few weeks ago I received a notice that my AOS interview has been scheduled for October 8, but still haven't heard anything about my EAD/AP, when I look at the case history for them, the last thing it shows is a service request was filed on Aug 9 but not assigned to an officer yet. I know they have 30 days to reply to a service request, but the end of that 30 days is in 2 days. I know after 30 days I can submit another service request and hope to receive an answer.

But this is my dilemma/problem. I am HOPING to be able to leave the US to visit Canada for my best friend's wedding on October 5 (just under 4 weeks away) which doesn't give me a full 30 days to wait for the second service request in case it takes them the whole 30 days. Obviously I understand that a wedding isn't a reason for them to expedite a request for AP, and we haven't bought tickets to leave or anything like that. But having waited over 8 months with no news so far about the EAD/AP, and I feel like I've done all I can with submitting the service request, but I'm not sure what else I can do. If the AOS interview had been scheduled 3 days before the wedding instead of 3 days after the wedding, things might look a little different, but this is where I'm at right now. I know there have been people who filed in May-June that have been approved for their AP which kind of makes the situation a little more frustrating. I am planning to call on Monday (when the 30 days is up) to talk to someone and file a second service request, but I was wondering if anyone had an ideas or advice on if there was something I could ask them to do to help, because at this point, we're praying for a miracle!

    Thanks for your help :)

    Follow this...

I've had him filling out the affidavit of support and he's gathered the supporting documents already. And I have filled out the ds160 just not submitted it yet . I have the evidence and everything ready to go as well. But to my understanding I can't really do more than that until I hear something right? Once I have the nvc number, I can submit the ds-160 and then do my medical and book the interview? Am I missing something in there? And To book the interview do I have to call the embassy ?

    Which Country?

    Which Rmbassy?

You need to update your Timeline, as I believe there are many people in this Forum from your country.

I'm from Canada and the embassy is in Montreal, I thought I did have that on my timeline but I can make sure it gets updated! I have been trying to go through and see if there is anyone with the same embassy but I have not had much luck (it's a lot of posts to filter through but I am trying). If you know of anyone that does I would love to connect with them.

Hi did you all NVC or email them. When we got our NO2 we called them twice about 2 weeks after to get our NVC case number  and they said they dont have our case yet so i decided to email them and got a response after 5 days.

What's the email that I can email them at? I'm unable to call American numbers and my fiancee would like to avoid the call if he can lol. Thank you!

  5. Hi so I have been trying to follow this thread, but I'm feeling really lost as to what my next steps are. We received our noa2 June 20 and have not heard anything from nvc or anything. My fiancee received the approval letter from USCIS saying it was approved and that we will hear soon about next steps but it has been almost 2 months and nothing. He has been compiling the financial documents needed and I have been working on the ds-160 (but not submitted it yet) but I don't really understand how to book my medical or an interview if we haven't heard anything. What information do I need to book them? Or can I do it now without having heard from them? Any help would be appreciated. I honestly feel like  I'm losing my mind sometimes in this process

You can request a copy of your I-94 arrival/departure record from the DHS website here: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/, to prove that you were in the U.S. for x number of days on which dates.

So I took a look at the website and it says that an I94 is needed by everyone except for a list of people that include Canadians :( so I guess they don't issue them to us. So then I tried to pull up a history of crossing the border to at least try and match it to my boarding passes, and it only shows a handful of times in the last 5 years (I live in a border city and we grocery shop in the U.S.) so it's not even accurate and all it shows is a date (that I crossed the bridge .. no duration or return date) and "dcb". This is so frustrating :(

Flight confirmation and check in notices don't even prove you got on the plane... ah and no passport stamps is going to be tough. I wonder if the airline can send you something that states you had checked in and were on the plane?

Can you show any credit card statements that show you purchased items in his city in the timeframes you previously said you visited?  Do you have any photos that have things in the background that would be able to show location and date somehow?  Photos with family members who can write and sign an affadavit on the dates and times they were with both of you together?

I know :( That's why I am really struggling to find what I can submit :(
I might be able to find a credit card statement that shows something (although I don't usually buy anything when I'm there, or I use my american debit which shows no info). A lot of our photos are from Disney World (because he lives in Orlando, and we met while both working there) so they clearly show a place, and many of them show like 'seasons' based off of the holiday decorations up if that makes sense? But technically no 'year' associated. I do have photos with family members, so an affadavit would be a good idea, I didn't even think of that!

Send in copies of your passport that show the stamps of you entering his country during those dates.  And by plane tickets do you mean the actual boarding pass stubs, or just the receipts / what you got in email - because actually boarding passes work better. The copy of your passport with stamps should do the trick, assuming you met him in his country.  To be on the safe side, I'd personally take a photocopy of every single page in the passport, blank ones too, but some people will say that's overkill. I say for the extra few dollars / minutes it takes it's better to be safer.

Plane tickets dont show you were admitted to the country or that you met your person there either. Photos don't prove timeframe. Passport stamps show you were there, in that country, on those dates.

The problem is I am from Canada and they don't stamp our passports when we cross the border, so my passport doesn't show anything like that. And as for flight information all I have are the flight conformations and check-in notices, I always had a hardcopy of my boarding pass and I threw them out not thinking :(

  9. Hi,

So I have been following these threads for a while but haven't posted before. I filed October 25 2017 and last week my fiance and I received an RFE (this whole process is super stressful and I'm definitely ready for it to be over).  I'm posting because I'm just trying to figure out what I'm missing or what because the RFE is saying that we didn't provide proof of meeting in the last 2 years? But i included 15 plane tickets all with dates falling in the 2 years prior to filing. Lots of pictures that include us together at various holidays  where he lives, facebook comments, posts and instagram posts showing us together. The only thing I'm not sure of is all the plane tickets and whatnot are all in my name so obviously it doesn't show us flying together, but it's me flying from my city to his. So if that is the documentation I submitted originally, what am I supposed to include for my RFE? Honestly I'm super stressed and worried because I feel like I've submitted everything I have for proof and have nothing left to show us 'in the same place at the same time' short of what I've already submitted. Does anyone have an advice? What did you guys submit that seemed to be sufficient? This whole process is really making me anxious and I want to get this RFE submitted as soon as possible, thank you :)
