  1. so here is the story. I hope it helps so I can get some more advice:

When my fiance and I filed we were at 2 year 3 months from seeing each other. With him being from Iraq, he was not able to leave Baghdad for over a year due to curfews and he was injured in an explosion the second year. Obviously I was not able to go see him. USCIS approved our hardship and the papers went to the Syrian embassy. After 2 interviews and us providing more and more hardship evidence, they still did not like the fact that we had not seen each other is soooo long. It was also my understanding that everything says we should not travel to see each other after filing too. So they sent our stuff back to USCIS for a review. I called yesterday and yes, that is what has happened.

So my question is...what is best. We have about 3 months before it will truely get looked at since they just recieved it. SHould I go out and see him, then send to USCIS updates on our proof of relationship? Then also get my senator involved? And if it is denied in the mean time send in the stuff as an appeal? Or should we just get married and refile? What is the shortest and best way to go about this? Has anyone gone through a review like this?

    Thank to any advice,

    Sara

  3. i just recieved an email from the Department of State 4 months after the embassy told us that our case was going into Administrative Review. What are they looking for and is this normal? I mean do people normally just pass through this or is this something I should be very worried about. I don't want to sit around waiting anymore if they are just going to tell us in a couple months that we have to start over or something. Help!

  4. We figured out how to get all the documents they asked for (divorce paper, civil record from Iraqi embassy, tax records, and proof of hardship) and Ahmed is going back to the embassy tomorrow morning. Everything is taken care of and we are just praying that it is what they needed and that there is nothing else!!!!

  5. well after feeling really desperate Ahamad decided he is going to try and find a friend who can get a new certificate in Iraq for him. The problem with going back was that he thought he could not get another visa back in. So after talking to him I called the Syrian embassy in Washing D.C. and they said he can get another visa. Also, I am going to call the NVC and see what they can do, because the original divorce certificate was approved in the I-129F petition. I dont know why they are being so nasty. The lady in the interview gave him a reall bad time about bringing in the ring he bought be for our wedding ceremony and told him that I should have it a be wearing it because we are suppose to be engaged. Well....we didn't do engagement rings and why would I be wearing our wedding ring if we haven't gotten married yet??

I am just worried because I know he feels at such a loss right now.

What other people can I call to help step in with this process? My Senator? How fast are those situations??

Thanks for the help and support!

  6. Sorry...continued...

Ahamad entered Syria with a merchant visa to go to his interview this last Tuesday. After his interview, he was missing some documents and he was told to come back with them. So we can get everything they asked for except a new copy of his divorce certificate (he brought an old one). It would require him going back to Iraq and getting a new one because they cannot send it to him. If he does that, he cannot go back into Syria because the visa is a one time thing and there are no other visa he can get to our knowledge. So now we are stuck.

    HELP DESPERATE DEPRESSED COUPLE PLEASE

  7. sooooooooooooooo....

it didn't go as we hoped. They asked him to go to the Iraqi embassy to get some other papers (something to do with his divorce and an individual civil paper) and then they asked for more evidence. They also said our co-sponsor was not qualified!!!

I don't know exactly what they want because I called the embassy and no one pick up. I am awaiting the response to an email, but hopefully we will have everything in to them on Thursday.

  8. had you listed syria on your I-129F? If not that's why it went to Amman. Is it because of the passport issue your fiance can't go to Amman right now? Because they are starting to move pretty quickly. Ameel's advice was good also to just email Amman, but definitely stay in touch with Syria.

    best wishes to you.

I did list Damascus Syria on the I-129F but they still sent it to Amman because Iraq stuff goes there by default (they dont have a consulate). My fiance already got his new passport a month ago, he cannot get over the boarder because they just won't let Iraqis in I guess.

  9. Hi everyone-

My case was sent from NVC to Amman on March 14th even though I listed Damascus as our consolate (becuase of Iraq's default to Amman). In January I contacted Syrian embassy to see if they would take our case and they said they would if we would request a transfer (my fiance cannot go to Amman right now due to strict boarder issues). I emailed the Syrian consolate last week and they have not replied. I am getting anxious. Has anyone else requested transfers through these embassies? Should I be emailing Amman instead? What should I do next? I cannot find insructions for transfers.

    -Thanks,

    Sara
