    Thank you! This is what we survived yesterday. They are estimating it was probably a F4 or F5. This picture was taken by a friend of my daughter.

    Congrats and I am glad everyone is ok! I was reading that most people got their yellow letter before their IL...is that normal because we got our interview letter almost a week before the yellow letter...Chicago seems to be backwards

    Chicago Office Same Day Oath Ceremonies?

    My husband is going for his interview/test in June and I was wondering if anyone knows if the Chicago office does same day Oath Ceremonies...the website doesn't say and his interview/test is in the morning. Also, do they typically give you their decision the same day before you leave or do you have to wait for an approval/denial letter??

    Our interview was the same day as yours in Chicago. We had the same cort of experience. We got there, we were seen by a rather large african american man. He asked for Hilarios original BC and our marriage license. Then he verified some of Hilario's info (DOB, when he entered the country, where he was born) and he asked for our reciept showing we paid the fine for Hilario entering illegally (when he was 5!!). Then he said he had everything he needed to make a decision. He said he would notify us by mail. I am so freakin nervous. He didn't ask ANY personal questions, like how we met or anything. I am really up in the air at this point!!

    Oh Wow!!! What time was your interview? Ours was 10:59 A.M. We waited like an extra 10-15 minutes, not long at all. Yep, sounds like we got the same guy. The only thing I'm concerned about it, if they were going to approve the interview and issue green card, I thought they pulled the I94 arrival/departure card. Hmmm, guess we jsut have to wait and see. Now the I130 hasn't been approved as of yet when we went for the interview, so don't know if they will continue their investigation or not.

    Out interview was 9:59 am, but we were out of there by 9:15, we got there WAY early and they got us in and out. Hilario doesn't have the I94, he entered illegally as a child. Our I130 was approved earlier this year so that can't be what they are waiting for with us. I think it must be the FBI name check or something but do they issue an EAD without those security checks? Hilario got his EAD in July, you would think if he was approved for that he would be approved right away for the Green Card. Who knows! Keep me updated on your case and I will do the same!!!

    We had our interview in Chicago today. We were scheduled for 9:59 am (weird time huh!?!) but we got there at about 8:30 (wanted to beat 88/290 traffic!). They called us in around 9 (almost an hour early). We went in the room, the "officer" swore us in and then we sat. He asked for our ID's, we both showed him our DL's and Hilario also showed him his EAD. He began to flip thru our GIGANTIC file and I could see all the stuff I had sent in (I colored coded alot of it :jest: ) Then he started verifying all of Hilarios info, DOB, where he was born, when he entered the US. Then he asked if Hilario was ever involved with a terrorist group, a communist party, etc...all of which were big NO's hahaha....then he asked if we had paid the fine for Hilario entering illegally. I dug out the reciept, but OOPS forgot to make a copy, so he went and copied it (I felt like an idiot because I though I was SOOO prepared). The he asked to see originals, Hilario's BC, and our Marriage License. He did not look at our photos or ask us ANY personal questions. He then said he had everything he needed and that he would be in touch. He said we would recieve a letter in the mail about his decision. We shook his hand and left. We ARE SOOO nervous now, I wish he could of let us know then and there. Im hoping to get the "Green Card Production Ordered" email later today...I will keep you all updated!!!

    Oh and he didn't take Hilario's EAD, is that normal??

    I called my husband at work and it took him a couple of seconds to understand what I was saying! Then I called my family back home, and my mom was very happy. I can't wait to try it out when we go up to Canada in August!

    Ok we got our interview letter yesterday, 6/16/2007. There was a LONG list of things we need to take, most of which they already have, but we will take it ALL anyway so that there are no problems. Has anyone been through the interview process in Chicago? If so what can we expect to happen, what kind of questions, how long does it usually take, and what specific things do they usually ask for?? I just hope Hilario's EAD gets approved soon :thumbs: At least we have some good news now though, we were afraid we would get another RFE!!

    I can't vouch for the Chicago office, but in SF, we showed up to our 12:45 appointment on time, checked in, and sat down for about two minutes before we got called up.

    Our initial questions were more skewed toward factual stuff: "when did she arrive in the US, what's our home address, what was the wedding date," and the sorts of things that you'd absolutely know from filling out your form.

    Next, we got asked things like how we met, how long we were together before getting married, etc. I've heard that a handful of photos should be sufficient, but we printed out 40 or so and narrowed them down to 24 solid ones. It might help to write the date of the picture (real or estimated) on the back and a description for their files. We also showed the officer a wedding album that my godmother made (and left him with copies of each page) and showed members of my family and hers.

    Hit 'em with enough paperwork (take your originals of your already-submitted stuff and make copies of more of your bona fide stuff that you haven't shown them yet) and give 'em the facts and you should be perfectly fine. Congratulations on getting an appointment date; it's so relieving to see another chapter in this whole process open up! :)

    How badly does an RFE letter really slow everything down? I know it says up to 60 days but has anyone had actual experience with this situation? My husbands Biometrics Appt. was on the SAME day we rec'd the RFE letter. As of 5/31 the case has resumed processing but now his EAD won't be touched for 90 days, is it possible to get the I-485 approved BEFORE the EAD? If that is the case then we wasted $180 on the EAD!! Oh well, as long as he gets his GC by the end of the year (hopefully)!! :thumbs:

    in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures

    My husband has been in the US since 1990, he was brought over when he was 5 from Mexico. We were married in 2004. We filed an I-130 which was recently approved and the NVC assigned a case number. It says with the I-130 once my husband enters the US at a Port of Entry he will be a permanent resident, but he is already here. Will we have to go to Jaurez, Mexico for our interview and if so how can we do that if he is not even here legally, won't he get banned if he leaved the US....we are so confused. Please help us!!
