  1. Hi All,

I have a K-3 visa expires Jan, 2009. In June I had an AOS interview. The green card was not approved yet since he did not have my medical exam. However, he took my I-94 from my passport. He wrote something on it which I cant read.

In this situation, can I still travel outside? I know that If yo are a valid K-3 visa you can travel outside. In this case it is a little bit more complicated :) I appreciate your help.

I called USCIS and everybody says something else.

    Thank you,

    DU

  2. hi all,

my fiancee received her employment authorization card today but the finger print is missing on the card. is this normal.

    No.

country of birth is written : unknown is this normal ?

    No.

date of validity is from 09/04/07 to 03/30/09, is this normal ?

Yes, if the EAD is based on the K-3 visa, rather than an AOS application. I would assume the K-3 runs out March 30th, 2009?

    Hi!

Everything is normal. I also got the EAD card which doesnt have fingerprints and saying place of birth unknown. I started working and everthing is fine.

Regarding the time they give EAD for the period of K-3 visa.

    Hopefully this helps.

  3. I dont like to be picky but you can get connected to an officer when calling the 800 number.

You can get connected with various levels of people through that number, non of which can help you with your missing EAD.

It happens. I agree. It happened to me several times. When the customer service rep. could not answer my question, she connected me to his/ her supervisor. But there is nothing they can do about EAD.

Once something really strange happened. I entered my case number (my case in Vermont) and somebody answered me saying this is officer ... from Vermont Service center. He was really nice and helped me out with my problem.

But before talking to this person, I talked at least 10 other people. My problem was, I never received a receipt number. Most of the customer service reps couldn't help me saying that they need a receipt number to find the case. But I kept on calling and finally I got connected to a supervisor and she found my case by searching by name, birth date etc. Then, we realized that my case was approved more than a month ago. I never got anything. Then, We realized that they mailed the approval notice to my home country address even though I indicated my mailing address as my USA address. And most tragic part was the address they send it was totally wrong. So, I never got the letter. When I asked them I need the approval notice asap for my other application. They told me to fill out form I-824 to ask for a duplicate notice. I told them it is not my mistake, I don't want to pay $200 and wait for 6 months to get a duplicate notice. That person told me that there is nothing she can do.

I kept on calling the customer service again and that was the time I had chance to talk to an officer at Vermont. He totally understood my situation (he was really nice) and I got the approval notice within a week at my address. If you ask me how I got connected to Vermont service center, I have no clue. Just luck!

  4. Oh!. Sorry to hear that. We just found out the following page:

    http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/editorial_0482.shtm

I think it is a good idea to write here. Please try. It is unbelievable some people get their EAD's within ave. of 75 days and some people have to wait.

And yours is more strange that, you did not have your biometrics. Please call 800 number again, talk to them again. It should make sense at least to one person there.

Good luck. I wish I could do something

Hey Dwish...I hear ya!!!! I applied for my EAD ...26 January , NOA1 2 Feb, its been

"120 days" and I have not been contacted for my Biometrics as of yet!

at 60 days I did an info pass appt...They looked at the file and nothing has been done.

    At 90 days,

I called the 800 info line and they just said we will send a message to the California Service

Center. and still "NOTHING"!!!! at this point! They suggested if I don't here anything within

the next 45 day to call back, by this date it will be 15 June!

    I am not impressed!

  5. It depends. I know that people come here with tourist visa and get SSN.

I was here US between 2001-2005 and had a SSN. then I got married and come to US in 2007 with k3 visa. SO I went to Social Security office to change my name to my married on my old security card. Then, they asked me for EAD. They were like, we need your EAD to do that. It doesnt make any sense at all. But, I wonder if anything make any sense :)

I am sure there are bunch of people here who got their SSN, or changed their existing Social Secutiry card (name change) with only k-3 visa, and there are some they could not.

So if i were you, just go ahead and give it a chance :)

Just another comment! We just found out a web page

    http://www.dhs.gov/ximgtn/programs/editorial_0731.shtm

Using this web page you can ask help for a case you are having problems. It is unbelievable and unfortunate that organizations (USCIS etc.) can make some mistakes which makes people miserable. There are some case examples given in an article.

    Best of luck,

    DU

  6. Yep thank you.

So I already, went to my local office since it was over 90 days. I have been told that they dont give interim EAD's anymore at local offices. Even, the immigration officer told me that thats why they have backlog at Service Center causing this delay. She finally told me that she will e-mail the Vermont Service center and hopefully I will get my EAD card within 2-3 weeks.

The other funny part is my EAD was transferred to Vermont Service Center for processing. My transfer date is Feb 23. Lets say I take into account this date as the starting date of 90 day period. It still doesnt make sense since Vermont Service Center is processing cases with receipt date of Feb 27th as of may 18th.

It is really stupid to wait and wait without knowing the reasons. My concern was if they are doing some background checks, or lost something or .....

Thank you all for the advises.

  7. Hi All!,

Today, USCIS updated the processing times. Currently, they are processing EAD's with a notice date of Feb. 27, 2007. My notice date was Feb 12th. I already did a service request and an infopass. I am really worried now. There is nothing i can do about it. Any suggestions are welcome. Are they doing background check or what? Thank you.

  8. Hi!

I had an infopass at Newark on Monday(5/15/2007). The lady told me that there is a baglock at Vermont service center and thats why I did not get my EAD card within 90 days. She also told me that she will e-mail Vermont Service Center and hopefully I will get EAD within 2-3 week. Then, I told her that I was supposed to start working today-even showed her the offer letter. She told me that she will indicate this in her e-mail and ask for fast processing.

She was unhappy with the situation that I did not get my card within 90 days and even told me that since they dont allow local services give interim-EAD anymore, they are unable to process EADs on-time.

I am really worried now, I dont know if I will get my EAD within 2-3 weeks as I have been told and I dont know how many more days I can postpone my job start date. I have been checking my status online constantly. Hoping to get good news soon! I wish good luck to everybody. All this journey is really though and you really need a patient. It is nice to dream a day with no EAD, AOS worries.

  9. My husband received his EAD card on Monday. The middle initial of his name is wrong. What do I need to do to get it corrected or should we just wait until he get his Green Card and have it corrected then?

    Shelia

If you are sure that it is their mistake, I advise you call them again. Please dial 1-2-6 to directly speak to the customer service rep. Some of them are really nice and helpfull if you expalin the situation.

Similar thing is happened to me. After talking to several, finally I had chance to talk to the right person. Eventhough, the others telling me to do the application again, he was agree that it was their mistake and within few days I received the approval.

    DU

  10. On the USCIS website it states that Vermont is currently processing Jan 27, 2007 applications. So currently you're not out of regular processing times. Once you are then you can schedule an INFOPASS appt to find out what is happening and possible obtain a stamp for work authorization.

    Kristina

    Yes.

But, I see people who filed before me already approved. Their case was not transferred to Vermont, instead they are still in Chicago. If you check the processing time for Chicago, you will see that it is Jan 27, 2007 again. So, jan 27th just a number which matches the 90 day period. As you see the post, the average day is about 76.

  11. Hi,

    The following is my timeline:

Feb 7, 07: EAD application sent

Feb 13, 07: Application reached to Chicago, IL

    Feb 20, 07: NAO1

Feb 23, 07: transfer to Vermont

March 6, 07: bioappointment at Newark, NJ

    March 11, 07: touch

    nothing else...

We only filed EAD and it was transferred to Vermont. Any of you had the same experience?

    DU

  12. Was your application transferred to Vermont too? Hopefully, I will get my soon. I have a job offer in hand and just waiting for my card...

Most people in this thread are filing for EAD along with AOS so there EAD does not get sent to vermont.... it is processed at MSC/NBC... so you can not compare their timelines to your own....

    Kez

So, mine will take much longer then others?

No it should not take any longer.... but as your EAD forms have been forwarded to Vermont you can not compare it to someone who's EAD is being delt with by MSC/NBC as it is 2 diffrent places....

You can check the USCIS website for processing times for Vermont and this should give you some idea of how long it may take...

    Kez

Thank you very much for the info. They are processing receipt date of January 27, 2007 as of April 18th. Hopefully, mine will be soon.

  14. What happens then? No movement on the EAD but lots of touches on the other. If the AOS is approved does that automatically include a work permit?
