  1. Wow, I hope you will be this thorough with any additional documents and requests for information. Most people supply photos of themselves together taken within the past two years, supply copies of letters or email letters, copies of telephone bills, airline tickets, hotel receipts, money exchange documents, tickets to events in the foreign country (generally we go there, but sometimes they come here first).

The idea is to provide evidence of having met, of an intent to marry and of an ongoing relationship. I would say that appearing before a notary and having a third party witness is much more than is required.

But, that being said, there is no guarantee you won't get an RFE.

    Good Luck!

    P.S. Be patient.

The only additional information I think they might ask for is proof of an ongoing relationship. Four solid months of e-mails, cards and letters should take care of that if they ask for it. As for evidence of having met, yes, I probably went into overkill on that one. Thanks for the reply

  2. If they need more from you then they will send you a RFE and tell you what they want from you...i wouldnt worry to much about it because if they do send for more info from you then at least you know that they are working on your case. Do you have phone records, stamps in your passport etc just in case? What i did was get other things ready just in case.

Thank you, yes, I have put together a packet of additional information.

I was fortunate to have my fiancé with me in the U.S. when we filled out our I-129F paperwork. At the time, we new nothing about VisaJourney.com and all of the guides and tools this site offers to help ensure our paperwork was filled out properly. All we had to go off of at the time was the instruction sheet that accompanies the I-129f form. The I-129f instructions do not go into detail as to what types of evidence are required. If you download the form and go to line 7 subpart A in the instructions you will see that they do not go into any detailed explanation of the types of evidence they are looking for.

That being said, my fiancé and I along with a third party witness went to my local courthouse. The three of us provided identification and signed, before a notary, a Witness Statement stating that the third party witness along with the notary physically seen both my fiancé and I on such and such date and such and such time etc. We also had the third party witness take pictures of my fiancé and I standing in front of the courthouse with the name and location of the courthouse on the building in the background.

If you think about it, forms of evidence such as phone records, hotel receipts, etc. etc. could all be falsified. My fiancé and I decided that going to the courthouse and signing documents in front of a notary was a rock solid approach to this problem. In addition to the witness statement, we sent photographs of us together, along with a statement of intent from both of us also signed in front of the notary. And all of this except the photographs was sent in triplicate.

Note; there is no mention of “Proof of ongoing relationship” in the I-129f instruction documentation. Only an entry box requesting how the relationship was established.

My fiancé and I feel very comfortable that all of our paperwork was filled out correctly. This was the only “Grey” area of concern. My question is simply: Should we have something to worry about regarding this issue?

I apologize for the long post. Thank you for your replies.

If you want to worry about something that is now out of your control then that is your perogative. You supplied the best you could think of at the time. Sit back, relax and wait .....

Yes, take a number, stand in line... Thank you
