  1. Hi Y'all,

My daughter's US passport has expired and we plan on renewing it this month. My question is does the US embassy in Manila decides the schedule of the appointment when you make an appointment online, or we pick? We will time for when my husband is flying in to the Philippines so we don't have to submit the Statement of Consent.

    TIA

Your brother will have to prove to the satisfaction of the US consular official at the interviewing US embassy/consulate, that they have significant ties to the Phils. such that they would return to the Phils. after their US visit is completed. Such ties could include, property, house ownership, current stable employment, etc. Each visitor visa applicant is presumed to have immigration intent, and must prove that they are not trying to immigrate to the US. A letter from a doctor, any documents from you, or any other invitation-type letter would likely have no positive effect on the visitor visa approval.

My brother lives with us though.

His visa approval will depend solely on his capacity to demonstrate strong ties to his home country, so anything that shows this.. job, school, business, etc is needed.

He works for us with our small business. We are also a partner in one of our businesses both online and offline. His name is on the business on the DTI Certificate ( Department of Trade and Industry ). We have joint bank account for the business. Granted the business is only less than a year but it's going. Hope that will help also. He is not married though. I've heard it dings a red flag when the applicant is single

  4. Hello Everyone,

I am a USC and I have 3 kids currently living in the Philippines. My husband works offshore in the states so his work schedule changes very quick. We plan on going back to the states next year when girls school is over. I want my brother to go with us to assist me with my children during the flight. We will be staying in the states for 2 months and fly back in again when it is getting closer for my children to go back to school. Their ages are 9, 7 and 3 years old by the time we fly. What is the chance of my brother getting approve on his visa? What should we do to get the possibility of the visa to be approve? Please help.

    TIA

If you will be flying with any of these airlines, the Philippine travel tax may have already been included but you can double-check it on your e-ticket or you can contact the airline directly, they can check it with your booking or reservation number.

You would also have the option to pre-pay the Philippine travel tax upon booking online with any of these partner airlines.

You could also pay for the Philippine travel tax online.

Thank you so much. This is a very helpful information.

No problem traveling to the USA .   You have been in the Philippines 3 years?  Do make sure to have your Philippine passport with you.  Very possible you will be asked to pay the Travel Tax ... which is a lot cheaper than dealing with ECC fees.

Yes, that is correct. I have been staying here for 3 years. Is the travel tax still 550 pesos? or included in the ticket?

Philippines does not require you to enter/exit on a Philippine passport....so you could always enter/exit on the US one.

I would suggest still carrying your Philippine passport with you, in case it's asked for.

Thank you so much for this information. I was planning on doing to the Department of Foreign Affairs to make sure, but I think I am good to go.

You are a USC, you can travel with that passport without issue.   Do carry your Philippine passport, even if expired.      Philippines does not require you to exit or enter the country with the Philippine passport, whereas the USA does require using the U.S. passport.

Oh thank you so much. That was my worry when I get to the counter and show them both of my passports and the other one is about to expire. The Philippines has this 6 months rule to travel and I am afraid my Philippine passport will not be accepted and won't be allowed to go.

It was 3 years ago when I used my Philippine passport and US passport to enter the Philippines.

  9. Hello everyone,

Please enlighten me. I am dual citizen (US-Filipino) and I need to travel to the US next week to be with my husband who'is undergoing a surgery on his arm. My US passport is good to go while my Philippine passport will expire this June. Can I still travel? Renewing it will not make it in time for the surgery. Please help me, this is an emergency that I need to be there.

    TIA
