  1. I interviewed at Federal Plaza in NY and no passport photo was needed. The officer took a picture of me there.

My case was finally approved and my oath will be held at Pearl Street next week.

Does anybody have experiences to share in regards of applying for a passport on the day of the oath? I need to travel overseas soon after the oath and am wondering if I should just apply for a passport at a consulate overseas or wait an extra day to get it done here if it can be that fast.

    Best,

    Carlao

  2. Thank you all for your inputs.

I managed to talk to a t2 agent last week. The line does roll onto the following day, so for those trying to reach out to a t2 agent while calling, make sure to pay attention to your phone the next day.

The call itself was not too helpful but I understood from the officer that an info pass can be more productive (or not) if it is scheduled at the office holding your case as you might get lucky and be able to talk to the officer handling your case. Worst case scenario you get the same at an info pass as you do from a t2 officer on the phone.

In sum, I have to keep waiting indefinitely (as many others) while they sit on my case until when they decide to review it and make a decision.

Meanwhile, I am considering going out of the country on a short vacation.

For those that have been to the oath ceremony (especially in NY city):

    1) Did anybody at the oath ceremony at any point ask you questions including where have you been since the interview? I wonder if this will happen for sure at the ceremony or if this is just a risk.

    2) Did anybody leave the country after interview/before the ceremony? Was there any comment on this by USCIS officers or negative damage to the application?

    Ty,

  3. Hello All, I have been a lurker here for a while, sorry about that.

Have a question for those that got in touch with USCIS regarding their case:

    1) Is an info pass = to talking to a tier 2 agent on the phone? In terms of their power to see what is going on with your case and telling you more insights.

It has been impossible to get either of those. The Federal Plaza building in NYC never has any appointments and when I call the general 1800 and ask for a Tier 2 agent, they put me in a callback line of 5+ hours plus and after accepting it I never get a callback. I wonder if I should keep trying to secure both or if I should stop once I get either to happen.

My case is in some kind of limbo after the interview. The officer was startled by my background (lots of traveling around + 10 months on an MBA course overseas) and couldn't make a decision before doing more background checking. He told me they have 120 days to decide but that most of the time they do so around 4-6 weeks after the interview, which has passed already.

    2) Is there another number that I could call to get a hold of a tier 2 agent? (case is in NYC)

    Thanks
