  1. Here is what we recieved yesterday about our bio letter. Our biometrics appointment is still pending as our local ACS (Charlotte) has limited capacity. We will schedule your appointment as soon as a time becomes available. They apologized for the inconvenience and appreciate our patience. At least it is still moving along.....

I went for my bio in Charlotte on Oct. 5th (my NOA1 date was July 26th). It's interesting that they say they have limited capacity when I saw at least 6 people working and only 2 other people waiting to have their biometrics done. That said, I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I'm sure you'll receive your appointment letter any day now.

    Good luck!

  2. Andres0603 is Charlotte your local office? It's mine and I received my NOA2 on the same day as you did and still haven't gotten my bio appointment. It also looks like there is someone on the August filer list who is in the same boat. I'm thinking that Charlotte must just be a busier office and we should all hear something soon.

thank you for the reply jamericanlove, I probably wait another week if not I would call USCIS for sure

are the customer service people @ USCIS would be able to tell when NOA2 is schedule or do I have to ask for an officer

  3. Hi all,

I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me with a bad situation. My best friend had been in the U.S. for two and half years on a TN Visa (work visa). She ended up meeting an American guy and getting married in Oct. 2005. She applied for AOS late last year and her interview was scheduled for two weeks ago. About two months ago her husband died suddenly from pneumonia at 34 years old. As if that wasn't tragic enough, she still had to go through with the interview and just found out today that her Green Card was denied. She's now wondering if she can reapply for a work visa (she's a nurse and in very high demand) or if she simply has no choice but to return to Canada.

Has anyone had any experiences of anything similar? Any thought would help.

    thanks.

  4. Hi all,

We just filed for AOS yesterday so I've been back to obsessively reading VJ after a couple of months off after all of the waiting for our K1 before Christmas.

So I've noticed that many Canadians' AOS cases get transferred to the CSC and they get their Green Cards approved without having to go through the interview process. Just wondering if this has been the experience to most of the Canucks who have filed?

    Just curious...

  5. Have you seriously been waiting since Oct to get your passport with visa back? Sorry - just reading your sig

Not quite. I went for my interview in October and I didn't have a police clearance from New Zealand (I lived there for a year 11 years ago and didn't even consider that I would need a clearance - dumb). In MTL they told me that they would have to request the clearance directly from the US Consulate in New Zealand and that should all take about 3 weeks to get my visa. They didn't keep my passport at the interview and they finally received the clearance at the end of November and have had my passport since November 28th. And here we are - still waiting. Just hoping to get it before the end of the week so I can finally make the move down south!

  6. Misty1979 had her interview on December 6th and was tracking via the Canada Post site, it still hadn't updated even after she received it on the 12th:

    Thanks guys:)

No, I managed to resist drooling all over the visa, but I did tell my sister I would lick the postman when he delivered the package. The old guy ran off before I could get my paws on him though..slippery #######

For trailmix's and my own curiousity, I checked the Canada Post website, it still says my passport is sitting in the Montreal P.O lol. Oh well, it was a nice surprise getting it earlier than what I expected:)

Thanks, I saw that one. I have no idea why Canada Post even offers tracking as a feature when it's so useless! Just gives us something else to obsess about while we're waiting!

  7. how long have they had your passport? I wasn't there so can't really remember (he crossed while Mtl had his passport because he was driving me down to MT to the friends house where I left my piece of shite car-it's licensed in the US so I couldn't drive it into Canada). I don't think they had it much more than a week. You really should be ok crossing with your bc and dl, but you might want to call MTL anyway just to see why you haven't gotten your passport back yet.

    Thanks!

They've had the passport since November 28th. Apparently, it takes between 7 - 10 business days to review the file and we're on day 8 right now. I'm trying to be patient but it's so hard with all of this waiting and not knowing. I did get a response from my friend, Operator 6, in MTL today that "It shouldn't be too long now" and that crossing with my BC will in no way jeopordize my application. So, that's something...

  8. yeah my husband crossed a few months ago while Mtl had his passport. it wasn't really a problem. Just as a reminder-you can't fly without a passport, but driving across the border with just a bc is still ok.

    Hi Thermophile,

Just wondering how long MTL had your husband's passport for? I can't seem to find anything (other than my constant worrying brain) that tells me that I can't cross into the U.S. while MTL is completing the process. As long as I'm not dishonest at the border, can prove my ties to Canada and have acceptable ID I think I should be ok to visit over Christmas for a week and get back to the North.

####### this sucks!!!! I'm going crazy with options and scenarios and it's not a far trip right now!

Any reassurances or personal experiences would be very much appreciated!

  9. I have been wondering about you. I am so happy you finally got your clearance and you're all ready! This is great news!

Thanks Sprailenes! I'm not completely confident yet - there's been too much getting excited and then everything taking longer than I thought. Heard from Montreal yesterday and of course they can't give me an estimate of when it will be processed. Aarrggghhh! I'm so frustrated and so ready for this to be over!

  10. Hi Everyone,

I know there are many posts here regarding crossing into the States while you have your application pending and making sure you can prove ties to Canada etc. My question is this - has anyone tried to cross using their birth certificate as ID while the U.S. Consulate has your passport for Visa processing???

I had my interview in October and needed a police clearance from New Zealand (which Montreal finally received last week - yay!) but I had to send in my passport so they could issue the visa. Montreal now has my passport and are apparently "reviewing" my file. Of course they provide no timeline and I'm worried that I won't get my Visa before Christmas. I'm wondering if I should risk visiting over the holidays if the visa doesn't come through but I certainly don't want anything to jeopardize my visa application at this late stage.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  11. Hi all,

I'm a Canadian (living in Canada) and am being held up in the K1 process because I neglected to obtain a police clearance certificate from New Zealand. (I travelled and lived there 10 years ago). Apparently it's been requested but I have no way of following up with the Consulate as they 1. don't answer email queries regarding immigrant visas and 2. only post a 0900 number that can only be accessed from inside NZ.

Has anyone else had any experience with this??? The waiting and not knowing is driving me crazy.

    thanks.
