  1. My wife and I have been waiting for 6 months now to get a schedule date for her AOS interview. I've checked uscis case status update and it still says "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" that was in June and its now December. I've already filed an inquiry request and uscis sent me basically the same information....I guess my question is should we be worried or is this normal?

  2. My wife and I am waiting for our interview date for I-485....

In that time I've come across some troubling blindsiding information that now we must update our marriage with the Japanese consulate, does anyone know all the procedures and documents needed to do this. So far I've gathered up a few informative sites that say I need to submit the original marriage cert. With Japanese translation as well as my birth certificate and passport acknowledging I'm a US citizen. Can anyone confirm this is all I need or tell me if there is more for us to do?

  3. So my wife(k1 recipient) and I are pending approval for AOS. Prior to submitting the packet we applied for her SSN. At the time we finished the application and sent it to USCIS, we did not have her SSN. A week after we sent the application she received her SSC in the mail. One of the pages in the packet ask for a social and we left it blank. Will this cause any delays or any issues between SSA and USCIS on approval of her AOS or will we be alright???

Firstly no it won't be a problem. You can just in case send your fiancé a new letter of intent to marry for her to take to the interview. that's all

I don't think interview is scheduled by the embassy in Tokyo (as I scheduled and rescheduled it by myself)... You can reschedule it earlier when there is an opening, but need to check that regularly to catch it. There are quite many openings happening every week.

So where would I direct my fiancée to go in order to check on an opening for an earlier interview date? Would that be on the embassy website, do you have to call and ask everyday, do you have a link you could forward? Anything will help, thanks a lot very much appreciated.

  5. Straight to the point,

i left the military begining of 2016, February to be exact. After that I did not have a job/work lined up to generate a 2016 tax return. I started at my current job April 2017, starting at an entry level position I wasn't getting paid what I am now. At the time I started it was $13 an hour which came out to about $14,000 for 8 months and that's what my 2017 return states. I'm currently at $18 an hour generating close to $31,000 annually which is over poverty guidelines for 2018. I have pay stubs showing proof of pay rate for several months and I know my bank statements will show money deposited and generated from my current position at my job....now Is there anything I should do to show that at the present moment I do make enough to support my fiancée, even though I don't have a tax return that shows it?  I know my 2014 and 2015 returns don't necessarily matter since I am currently discharged from the military. I was thinking DD214 with discharge papers and a written explanation could help with proof. Any advice or suggestions?

  6. Hello,

New to this whole thing and I'm sure this question is somewhere out there and has been answered, but I just received my NOA2. In the approval notice it seems to give a time line for "validation". my approval is valid from 04/27/18 to 08/26/18. My questions is, does all paperwork leading up to my fiancées issuance of her visa need to be completed within in this time frame or is this a deadline in which we need to initiate further processing before the case becomes idle? also if we are unable to finish everything within that deadline what would be the consequences?

    thanks,

    Joe
