Sorry if this has already been answered on this thread(I did not find it) - But - How do I contact the First Lady, on the whitehouse.gov site there is no way to contact the first lady. Thanks in advance.
-
So, going back to my old question, do I file the lawsuit at the 1 year mark or when my case is out of processing time ? Since it is a costly affair I dont want to lose money by filing too early and being asked to wait the few extra months.
-
Most field offices now have processing times over 1 year, Mine has 14.5 months processing time now, does this mean we have to wait out the processing time to file the lawsuit, or can we file it at the 1 year mark ?
-
My case is now pending over 10 months, 2 senator and 1 congressman inquiries and 3 infopass already done. I opened 2 SRs, first one expired with no response, 2nd one opened 2 weeks back, really is there nothing that can make the bastards wake up and move my case ?
-
My senator inquiry came back with same response as my congressman inquiry 2 months back. Just wondering if anybody had success getting out of this delay by senators.

For all of you guys, if you didn't read what I wrote on the previous page, I quoted it here for you guys, please read:
"Let me share with you this. I'm the original poster of this thread. Meaning I had been stuck in background/ name check for a long time just like you. I did research and tried a lot of things to push my case forward too. Unfortunately, nothing worked. It's hard to accept this but if you are stuck, that means you are STUCK, you can't do anything until the FBI finish their job. I guarantee with you that no matter what you try, it's not gonna work, so don't waste your time.
Here is the truth, there are only 2 scenarios here:
1. If you are stuck, and have not been stuck for a year (count from the date you submitted your application). So you are fine, nothing you can do but wait. Your case is gonna be automatically cleared when it approaches 1 year. This happened to most of cases ( > 90% )
2. If you have been stuck for more than a year. Meaning you are so unlucky and having 2 options:
----- Continue waiting until the case cleared. Nothing guarantees when it occurs, normally 1.5 years to 8 years, or more, this is what a USCIS officer told me when I had my infopass.
----- Take your action: file a lawsuit against USCIS . This works most of the time and really push your case forward by forcing USCIS to pay attention to you. But this does cost money. According to people who recently filed the lawsuit, they spent around 3k upto 7k for a lawyer to do this."
Also, if you are one the people in case #1 above:
DO NOT TRY TOO HARD FORCING USCIS DO SOMETHING FOR YOU. THEY WILL NOT AND CAN NOT DO ANYTHING BUT GIVE YOU A FLAG IN THEIR BACKEND. THAT MAKES IT WORSE AND DELAY THE REVIEW PROCESS.
What possibly can force uscis do something ? They dont care a damn about senator or congressman or infopass or any number of phone calls . But , Some people on other forums/threads have said they got their case moving after senator inquiry.

In my case it didn't trigger it unfortunately, however around 2-3 cases that were close to mine (in terms of NBC number) were indeed changed to "In Line for an Interview" on their 1 year anniversary date.
Is there any other option I can try ? Can I contact ombudsman before the 1 year mark ,if I am within my local office processing time but I have exhausted all other options (call 1-800, infopass, senator, congressman, service request )?

The OP is right about the one-year wait!
Just the day before the 1 year anniversary of the USCIS receipt of N-400 application, my case has finally changed to "Testing and Interview". It was stuck in "fingerprint appointment was scheduled" for 12 months!!!
For those who are still waiting, just hang in there and you'll be cleared as it approaches to the 1 year mark.
Thanks to everyone and good luck to you all!
Is this for sure that the one year mark triggers next stage ? I am about 9 months waiting now, and tried out congressman, senator, 3 infopasses, several phone calls, all getting the response that it is within processing time of my local office, but congressman and senator and infopass told that it is in background check. Totally fed up of this , my spouse applied with me and got her citizenship long back
-
I asked this because that is the only difference between mine and my spouse's application , and my name is lot more uncommon than my spouse's.
-
Is there any idea on how many days outside the country would trigger a background check process ? I had 9 trips with total of 165 days out of country before I applied, and my application is now pending 9 months. My spouse had 8 trips with total of 125 days and got her citizenship long back.
-
Is there any use of re-filing (this time e-file instead of paper) - or would it still go to the same background check?

Then it seems not the reason of name change. Do you have a job when you submitted N-400? I changed my first name and last name (my husband's) and no job when I submitted so I often doubt it's some reason from that.
I know several people who are homemakers(housewives and parents) who had no job or worked temp jobs , but still got interview and passed in 4-5 months. Job should not matter I think

Is your case paper filed or efiled ? Not sure some people in this forum are saying efiling would be faster but not if we are in background check

I do not have name change. My wife had name change but got her interview in 6 months. Mine is no name change, still pending 9 months today. What about yours ?

I filed my N400 with my wife back in July 1st week 2017, wife already got her US Passport, my case still shows "Fingerprint appointment was scheduled", I am not able to submit service request because the processing time for my location says I cannot submit if it is after January 31st 2017. I took 3 infopass appointments so far, and all I am told is that my case is pending background checks. I have had no criminal background all through my life, and no speeding or traffic tickets too in the last 18 years. Me and my wife filed joined tax returns every year but I had about 35 days more of international trips than her. Could this be causing the delays ? I asked my local senator to enquire but he has not yet got back to me. Any suggestions on what I can do to expedite my case ?

My case status changed to "Inline for interview on 5/15, after 10 months and 9 days. On 5/30 it changed to "Interview has been scheduled" , now I am waiting for the actual letter. Hope it will be all good now on.
