  1. Anyone with the 5 year Interview experience? Share please...

I search the forum but there is not too much of the info. Majority is about 3 yr...

    Thx

Can you write up how your interview went and where it was?

When did you get divorce? Did you fill out "divorce" on N400 and while interview the IO didnt ask about it? Did you bring a divorce decree?

    Thanks

Your chances to be asked about a previous marriage are NONE, I was in your choes, I had my interview tuesday, my interview took less than 10 mins and I was approved. dont stress your self much about that just review the question and you will be fine GOOD LUCK

    sorry I meant shoes lol

  3. Thanks bunch, i was just wondering how i should prepare myself...Read some posts here about people being question about their marriages...to verify if the marriage is/was legit?

No major changes for me....Also i read here too that some will not get "congratulations" right away but have to wait till the case is verified....what does it mean..? They were ok'ed on civil test but didn't get approval yet?

To my understanding, when applying based on 5 years, marriage, divorce or anything related to that is no longer an issue. You qualify based on living in the US for a period of time they assigned. If the IO wants to ask, it will not be questions to base your eligibility for naturalization.

Most probably the IO will go over the application and make sure everything you answered is correct by verifying what you say with what you wrote. They will also make sure that since you applied for naturalization nothing major changes (such as arrests, DUIs, travel, etc...). Then they will proceed with the civics, written and oral exams and you should be out of there in no time.

    Cheers!

I did submitted it with N400 even they didnt ask...and will take with me 2...thanks for a hint

Don't forget to include divorce decree - they will definitely ask for it.

  4. Hi all,

I have a interview scheduled at the end of August. I apply base on being LPR for 5 years. I have been previously married to the USC. I became LPR since 05. I married in 03 and was divorced in 08. On the n400 form i checked divorced. My question here; what are the chances to be asked of our marriage and the reason of divorce.

Is there anybody who was in the situation like that or similar?

    Thanks

  5. My lawyer said that I could not sign the I-751 if I was divorcing.
    Hello

Im new to the forum and I know there is plenty of information on these boards (I read a lot of posts) but i still have some doubts?

My wife and I got married in Oct 2003. My temporary GC will expire in May 2007. We had some problems and we both decided that the marriage will not work. Tomorrow my wife wants go to lawyer to find out what to do with divorce. She is USC.

We both entered this marriage with best intentions. I still have all documentation (bills, accounts, letters from friends, etc.) The fact is that it didn’t work out. I don’t know what to do??

I have a lot of stuff here, its been more than 5 years I’m here. Pending school, payments, etc.

I should send I-751 in beginning of Feb 2007, but now after that.... how??

We are still married but i don’t know for how long..

I will try to talk with her and explain that i need 2-3 more months to submit I-751, so maybe she will help and sign???

    If not what to do??

Send solo with all evidence i have??? Does it matter???

Any advises would be gratefully appreciate

If she's willing, you can file a joint I-751 and be prepared to withdraw and replace it with a waiver once a decree is available.

More explanation of this is located here:

The OP's USC spouse has not yet filed the divorce petition, as far as I can see.

We had not yet file either, and I thought I could sign, however knowing that we would be divorcing, the immigration and divorce attorney said that signing would be contrary to the evidence presented with the I-751 and would be perjury.

    Thanks to all of you...

I spoke with my wife and she is willing to sign I-751. And probably in the beginning of next year I will submit require documents and will send to USCIS.

    All comments gratefully appreciate.

    Thanks

    Thanks a lot for info...

Question for diadromous mermaid: If she will file a joint I-751, what does mean "be prepared to withdraw and replace it with a waiver once a decree is available".

    Thanks again:)
