Came to the US in 2007 on K1. Became a US citizen in 2013 (from the Philippines). Getting ready to start I130 to bring only my mom (father passed away). On my birth certificate my mom's name is listed as Maria Gloria. On her birth certificate and her Philippine Passport her name is listed as Mari Glo. (don't ask me why I have no idea) She grew up as Maria Gloria but never really paid attention to her birth certificate. She had no problem getting her Philippine passport (not a single person ever questioned her about it). Is this going to be a problem with the I130 application? I listed it in the section where you list other names used. Thanks as usual for all of the help this site provides!!

Finally received oath ceremony letter! Actually received it last Monday but we were on vacation in the Grand Canyon. Oath is scheduled at 730 am (shocked it was scheduled so early in the morning) this Thursday Sept 19th. So it took a little over 7 months but the end is near! Good Luck to all that are still waiting!!

My wife had her interview today.(Orlando) Some of things the IO asked her(that she can remember).

1. What is your husband's name and where was he born.

2. How many trips have you taken outside the United States.

3. Why have you moved twice since 2007. ( she answered him that when she moved here we lived in a 1br apt. we then moved to a 2br apt. she then told him that we had bought 2 bulldogs and we wanted to buy a house so that they could have a yard to play in, to which he responded "Oh, you're a pet lover, you automatically pass!! just kidding!" she said that made her feel a little at ease.

4. He then asked her the 6 questions. The only one that she remembers him asking is "why does the flag have 13 stripes?"

5. She had to read and write "The United States has one hundred Senators."

6. The only thing he had to go over with her was our IRS Installment agreement. He asked for the IRS Transcript from 2012 that we had paid last years taxes on time. I had some past due taxes from 2008 that we had been paying off. Actually, we only have 9 more payments. He said that they will verify with the IRS that our payments were current and made on time. He told her as long as that checked out she was approved.

7. She did see his work list on his desk for the day. It had all the applicants names that he was interviewing today with 3 columns and 3 circles next to each person's name. Approved, Decision Cannot be Determined Today, and Denied. He did color in the circle under the approved column next to her name even though he marked decision cannot be made at this time on her results sheet. He told her she would get her letter within the mail in the next 4 weeks.

All in all it was a good day. Now to just sit back and wait some more

hello everyone. back to finish the USCIS adventure. we mailed her application today 2-7-13 by USPS Express mail to Dallas. her 3 yr mark was actually back in may, but we were in no hurry to drop $680.00 dollars.

if someone would be so kind to add us to the list we will gladly keep everyone informed. her field office is orlando.

aubrey received her card in the mail today 10-22-11! :dance: she has appt in tampa next month to renew her passport and then on to citizenship in february.

4 months till citizenship!!

the part that makes me really mad looking at the n400 is that i have to submit basically the exact same thing that i did 8 months ago which i have not even received a reply. (no rfe.....nothing but silence) so i have to dish out another $600 to get us to the exact same spot we would have been had the ROC process been different.

i've seen this discussed in other forums. to save time and money why don't they just extend conditional residence to 3 years and then you adjust to 10 year card or citizenship. this removal of conditions seems so confusing and a waste of time for uscis if you ask me.

i wonder what the actual percent is of people that apply for ROC turn around less than a year later and apply for citizenship. it has to be huge. i don't think i've read anywhere on here of someone being content with a 10 yr card. so why not streamline the process and eliminate a needless step?

can i get a refund of the money that i payed for ROC if my citizenship is granted first? (that's a joke, i know that's a big NO)

(ii) Form N-400 Filed under Section 319(a) or 319(b).

In almost all cases, a Form N-400 that is filed while a Form I-751 is pending will have been filed pursuant to section 319(a) or 319(b) of the Act. These provisions require a higher level of evidence of marital union and joint residence than is required for the approval of Form I-751 filed jointly.

If a Form I-751 is pending at the time of the conditional permanent resident’s Form N-400 examination, the adjudicator should conduct the examination for naturalization. The adjudicator should ensure that the applicant has established that they are the spouse of the qualifying U.S. citizen and that they are in a bona fide marriage prior to the favorable adjudication of their Form N-400.

If the Form I-751 is in the applicant’s A-file and the applicant establishes their eligibility for naturalization under section 319(a) or 319(b), and also established that they have met the requirements under sections 216(b)(1) and 216(d)(1)(A) of the Act (as evidenced by such documentation listed in 8 CFR 216.4(a)(5)), the adjudicator may approve the applicant’s Form I-751 and Form N-400 concurrently. See paragraph (2)(A) of subchapter 25.1(k) and subchapter 25.1(e) of this manual.

If the Form I-751 is not in the applicant’s A-file, the adjudicator should proceed with the naturalization examination and request the pending Form I-751 from the USCIS office with custody of the petition. However, the applicant’s Form N-400 should not be approved until the pending Form I-751 is reviewed and approved based on a determination that the applicant meets the requirements of section 216 of the Act. See paragraph (2)(A)(i) of subchapter 25.1(k)

we are still waiting after service request was submitted on 9-29-11. it's really no big deal though. i've already started working on her citizenship package which we can submit 0n 2-27-12.

personally, i think this step in the process was a waste of time and money. the only thing you actually gain out of it is like a 9 month extension. i was actually thinking about it the other day, why would they waste their resources on this step when most people are going to be applying for citizenship so soon after.

been reading on this and several other forums (also uscis field manual)when you file the n400 naturalization, it forces them to adjudicate the ROC which makes no sense.

just hung up with USCIS rep. he actually was a very nice guy. went thru the standard questions.....he stated VSC was currently processing apps thru 2-28-11 and although we were only 6 days out (2-22-11) he would submit a service request for us. he took a bunch of info and gave me a confirmation number. stated we would hear something in about 30 days. we'll see.
