  1. Woo Hoo! Interview APPROVED! We were told to expect our greencard in the mail. We had a slight problem with the medical I693a (as in had to get one), but got that taken care of over the weekend. We dropped paperwork off today and were told we are approved!

On a darker note, we have YET to be touched on the USCIS webpage. Still showing 12/24/07....We got your form stuff. So all of you waiting out there for touches....None may be comming, but that doesn't mean they aren't working on your case!

  2. Thank you for the responses and links. I am assuming that the card that details the vaccinations Samuel already had are going to be transferred to the I-693. It all makes sense now. I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves but I just wanted to make sure I understand the process.

    Thanks again to all.

    Erika

It won't happen automatically, when you are ready to file for your I485, you will need to go see a US civil surgeon and have them transcribe the imunization card onto the I693a. Many will try to make you do the physical again, but stand your ground for the supplement only (If you file the I485 within one year of the international medical exam.) The civil surgeon will give you back another sealed envelope that you will include with the I-485. Good luck!

  3. The first clinic I called near our house was very willing to do the write up for $20. Yes, for the sum of $20 we can have our very own I693a signed by a civil surgeon. They are even open on Saturday! We just need to bring our injection card with us. If only the first place we went to wasn't corrupt.....

As for that $575 they quoted us, they were being nice. They weren't including the 2 injections she had on her injection sheet. Originally, we were quoted as high as $765.

I would suggest that anyone who hasn't sent in their I485 yet, needs to get this done. Even if you have already sent it in, go ahead and get it done. Just look up the civil surgeons in your state and pick one. Call around and get the best price and at least have the form ready in case you may need it.

Remember...This is the government. They LOVE paperwork! There is no such thing as TOO MUCH paperwork!

  4. We JUST had our interview (about an hour ago). We didn't fill out the I693a. We just submitted the injection card with the info. During our interview, we were told that we HAD TO HAVE FORM I693A! He told us that we could go to any civil surgeon and show them the injection card, and just get the shots required/form filled out. Unfortunately, we went to the closest place and they wanted to do the FULL medical CASH ONLY! At $575+ I told them that we would go somewhere else. They told us that they didn't take insurance for INS stuff. What a load of #######!

  5. We haven't received any touches, notifications, etc. since 12/24/07 when we got our NOA1's for the I485 packet. We got the AP and EAD in the first part of Feb. Granted, we are in the Dallas office and they are WAY behind.

How can you tell if you are in Name Check?

My wife is from the Philippines, but she was working as a nurse in Qatar. Qatar is over by Saudi Arabia (and she worked there for several years before she went to Qatar.) I actually met her when she was in Qatar. I realize that with all of the "problems" we have over there, that maybe this has flagged us for the FBI Name Check list.

I've been thinking about this for a while (due to seeing several Arabs pulled out of line at the airport to be physically searched) and would like your opinion.

Is there any way of telling if you are in Name Check oblivion?

    Thanks!

  6. I bought a prepaid sim off of ebay and sent it to my wife overseas before she got here. I activated it shortly before she arrived so she could just put it into her phone. This let her have an instant phone number as soon as she arrived in the US.

We prefer Tmobile. We are actually on a plan, but I've checked into Cingular(ATT&T or whatever they are calling it now) and compared them. The only difference is that ATT has better phones, but Tmobile offers ---international text messaging--- Cingular does NOT. (At least at the time I compared them late last year.) International Texts are 15cents each. Cheaper than calling overseas for a short conversation or to alert to get online. Both offer international roaming, but I would personally get an unlocked phone (I have!) and just use a prepaid sim in whichever country you are in. Much cheaper that way.

  7. The last touch we received on the I-485 was when my hubby had the biometrics appt back in December!

This is all our online status says..

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On December 4, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

So is our case still in Chicago where we mailed it??? sigh

Another question: Have any K3's been approved? I am having a hard time understanding how a marriage that is 12 years old takes longer to process than a K-1 marriage.

Glad we're not the only one! I just hope that means that we won't need to interview.

  8. I filed our taxes recently. All I put down was her SSN. She didn't have any income from the states, so no W2 and therefore no income (even tho she worked as a nurse overseas.) No need for the statement. I claimed her as a dependant similar to how you would claim a new baby. Just go to a tax office that will back you up if you are audited. I wouldn't worry about any income that he had BEFORE he had a SSN. According to the government, you don't exist until you have a SSN anyway.

  9. We followed the guidelines exactly (on the SS guide here on VJ). I printed the SS policy out (notice that it is located on THEIR website!) and brought it with us. We waited for several hours and finaly got up front. The lady that was helping us kept getting pulled off to help someone else, but I made a joke about not wanting to go back to work and it seemed ok. She didn't even blink when she wrote up the paperwork. I never had to show her the policy, but I had it sitting in plain sight on the counter. We had the SSN within 4 weeks. Info in hand: Marriage Cert, Passport (with I-94), Birth Cert and SS policy.

  10. I think you need to do some serious soul searching. Something you should think about is whether or not you can live like this for the rest of your life. Remember, you cannot change anyone. Only they can change themselves. And then, only if they want to. When I went to college, I also worked full time. I've always believed that "Where there is a will, there is a way". If he REALLY wanted to work, then he would. I wouldn't worry about the effect of your pending AOS. Just do what will make you happy and chalk this time up as lesson learned.

    Sorry!

  11. It appears that several of us have had issues with this. I just got off the phone with DPS (on hold for 22 minutes) and they told me that all I could do was call the Sargeant of that office and try to convince them to allow the NAO1 that shows we have applied for it. They also told me that Legislation decided those ID rules. They were very polite, unlike the office itself. I believe that they overlooked the K-status with all its differences. Anyone have suggestions for a Form letter we all can send and see if they will change it for our followers? I would be glad to post one, but I never did well in English or any of the writing classes. Perhaps we can even write a generic one in case any of the other states are having similar problems. Maybe even post it in the guides or example forms area. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Chris

  12. I've noticed that several people have been able to get their permit/license shortly after recieving their SSN. We have been refused several times due to inadequacy of her Primary ID. They are wanting an UNEXPIRED I94 that has been issued for at least 1 YEAR. It falls under the migrant worker part. Or, we can come up with her green card/EAD (which we just applied for and looks like it will be 3months + before we recieve it.) I've tried to find the policy that DPS has for K1 visa holders, but I have been unsuccessful. So, PLEASE!! share the secret! She has never had a driver's license before in any country and needs to start learning soon.

    Thanks!

  13. I've been doing alot of reading at this site. I knew about the fee for the I-129f. I have noticed in other's timelines that there are other documents, each with their own fee. Some have them listed and others do not. What is this elusive "packet 4"?

    Have I overlooked the list of what forms are needed? Ex: 1. I-129-f $180 2. I 130 $???

On the FAQ, it lists really only 3 forms: i-129f (fee), G-325A(no fee), and I-134 (no fee?). What others are needed and what are their fees (if any). I'm sure that most of us poorer folk would like to be able to prepare ahead of time instead of wondering which bill to put off. What fees (and/or bribes) are needed at the consular level? Is it dependant on whom you go thru? Any extra forms that I can send to aid in the process?

    Thanks alot!

  14. I have missed previous years before. I wasn't quite that lax tho! (lol). I recieved a refund both years and my refund was LARGER because they paid me interest on that money. So he may have a good refund this year!

On the other hand....if he owed money, could be expensive on him. But he should file for all years missed before the IRS catches him. Then he will have fines and possibly jail time. Good luck!

  15. I've been reading here for a while, but I've seen different dates between the NOA1 and NOA2. I recieved my NOA1 on 11/6 and I am still waiting on them to do anything to it. The last time I was "touched" was 11/8. Is this common? Am I in too much of a hurry?(Good old government) I really would like to get the NOA2 for Christmas, but I don't know if they shut down for the holidays.

Thanks to everyone giving hints on how to make it easier. I followed the instructions listed here, mostly. I forgot to write on the photos. I'm still hoping that they forgive me for that.

We're just ready for it to be complete. I'm sure all of you can understand. Thanks again for all the help!
