@Ib_109We also had a joint account , but closed it , because I was starting a business checking account and we did not want the hassle of maintaining too many accounts. I am using other forms of documents to show both our names on it. for e.g insurance , tax returns , flight tickets booked on the same booking number etc , but i am still enclosing the old statements from previous years with both our names. Also lots of photos , travel plans , big purchase items that as my name on it but my husband's credit card number on the invoice. We do not have bills in boths our name because my husband basically takes care of most of the bill I have yet to get the physical USCIS letter , but i can see the letter in the USPS Informed Delivery Digest. I intend to send out the letter , as early as Monday, the 26th of March , to not further delay the process.
@Huckyfinn remember its not about the quantity of documents you sent inn, it' the quality of those documents. I would suggest submitting documents that show a good quality marriage. Arrange them in the order that builds a good picture for your IO. Start with
1. Shared living. That would be copies of lease agreements. Go as far back as you can. If you have no lease then maybe property deeds...and if you have no property deeps then write your IO a letter explaining why you don' have those things.
Send utility bills (electric, gas, internet, cable, water) again date back as far as possible.
Pic of DL of both spouses with same address. Any other gov doc showing your joint address.
2. Commingled finances - copies of tax returns (dont forget to get transcript from irs)
Bank statements from joint accts, if you have 401k showing spouse as benny and vise-vesa. Other finanial other acts with spouse listed as benny.
C.Card statements, items purchased on layaway in both your names, Car loans, Car titles, car insurance, health ins, life insurance, anything showing you have joint financial responsibility in things that are of value.
3. Items to show you have an ongoing life togeather- that will be your sams card, your photos, trips youv taken, children's birth certificates, letters from friends and family. Gym membership, pet adoption certificates. Mail to your joint address in both names. Ie xmas cards, wedding invites, post cards (all items listing both spouses names ofcourse)
