  1. Hi Everyone,

My mother received her visa this morning. Does she need to schedule an appointment with the CFO to take her seminar or do they accept walk-ins? Also, it says she needs to bring the original immigrant data summary as well as a photocopy...does this mean she needs to bring the entire brown packet with her? Isn't this risky?

    Thanks,

    Ann

  2. An hour early. :)

Thanks. I remember when I had my interview 4 years ago my husband and I got there at 3:30am and we were 15th in line. I told my mom she needs to be around the same time we did... good thing I asked here. lol

  3. My mother's interview appointment is Jan. 16th, I received a copy of the appointment letter as her agent but she hasn't received hers yet. I was wondering where her letter will come from NVC or US Embassy? My letter came from NVC.

    Thanks,

    Ann

My interview date is also on January 16.i think I meet your mom at St.Lukes

Really? You met my mom? How could you tell it's my mom? :-)

  4. Usually its takes a while for your mom to get the letter maybe 20days to a month. The US embassy will send her a letter for her appointment. So, chill out!

Thanks. I guess we'll just be patient.

I called NVC and the rep told me that the letter is coming from them not from the US Embassy. He'll send another copy of the appointment letter but I don't think my mother will get it before her interview. Good thing I sent her my copy and she should get it this week. Her medical exam is almost over, she has an appointment today to get her shots.

  6. Thank you Henry. I will try to be more patient. I agree with you we are almost DONE. Thank God.

I sent NVC my original birth certificate and marriage contract yesterday, hopefully my mother will get them back. The operator said they will return the docs to my mother on the day of her interview. But I've read several post here saying not to expect to get the originals doc back, I guess, I have to wait and see. lol

Good luck to your wife.I am sooo excited for you, you'll be spending Christmas together. Say Hi to Vilma for me.

  7. I called NVC automated line friday and the message said they already reviewed my mother's case and they found missing information or incomplete. I received their letter today and they wanted three documents from me...BIRTH CERTIFICATE (mother), PETITIONER's MARRIAGE CONTRACT, and PETITIONER's BIRTH CERTIFICATE. My mother is 63 years old and her birth was never officially recorded. She went to Manila City Hall (registry office, she was born in Manila) and they gave her a certificate saying NO RECORD of her birth. Next she went to National Statistics Office and they issued her a certificate saying they do not have record of her birth. According to the NVC website if BC is not obtainable to get a certificate from the appropriate government authority and submit secondary evidence. I submitted the two certificates and joint affidavit from her sister and her aunt as the secondary evidence. I was confused when I received RFE letter because I already included those documents when I mailed my DS230 packet. I decided to give them a call and spoke to an operator this time. I told the operator that I don't understand why they are asking me to submit the documents that I already submitted. I explained the situation to her and she said that I have to submit certificate saying her BC is not obtainable and asked me if my mother has a baptismal record and I said no then she said you have to submit affidavit, and I told her I did. She said you have to submit affidavit from two different people, so I repeated myself again. Finally, the lady operator said that she will ask her supervisor to review the case again and it will take 10-15 business days. I also asked her why I have to send in my marriage contract and birth certificate because nowhere on their website that they said I have to include those in the DS-230. She said that it is a new procedure and probably the website is not updated yet.

I am not happy but there's nothing I can do but send my marriage contract and birth certificate and because of their mistake the process will be delayed. Anybody here who went through the same problem? This is very frustrating.

Frustration is a normal feeling when you are dealing with NVC. We sent the DS230 with no docs because I got 2 letters from my congressman saying that they are waiting for it. I was reluctant to send it to them, because I THOUGHT they wanted the docs at the same time. A NVC person said it didnt matter. So, we send the DS230, and 2 weeks later we get the RFE for all the missing docs. I did it their way, and they still wanted more. You have to be patient, as hard as it is, I know.

Good luck with this mess of a system we have. Luckily, we are almost done with it. My wife has an interview Dec 16th. in London. ( she is a Filipina )

I get the only thing I could ever want for Christmas!!!

  10. I love drinking Yakult too and i'm proud of it. lol My Husband and I went to Boston last weekend and found a store in China Town that sells Yakult. I was so happy when I found them. I only bought three packs though because the expiration date is August 31, 2008. :-( They also sell other brands but I like Yakult better. How much is yakult in the Philippines now? I paid $3.99 per pack here.

bale 35 pesos per pack then diba 5 bottles yun per pack? so pumapatak na 7 pesos per bottle :D

grabe mas mura nga dyan. magbaon ka pagpunta mo dito incase walang yakult sa state na pupuntahan mo. dito sa vermont walang yakult meron mga yogurt drink pero mas masarap pa din yakult.

hindi ba bawal magdala nun? if pwede magdala then i would really bring lol!

oo nga noh liquid pala yon...3oz lang yata pwede sa carry on/hand carry pero sa luggage unlimited (but i'm not sure check with your travel agent. wag ka maglagay ng perfume sa purse mo more than 3 oz...bf ng pinsan ko kinumpista cologne nya tinapon daw sa basura bagong bili pa naman.

  14. Thanks to those who have replied! I am still not sure if I have lost my Filipino citizenship or retained it as the Act RA 9225 is a little confusing. The Act was implimented in 2003 and I didn't leave the Philippines until 2004 and just became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2008...did I lose my Filipino citizenship by doing this and need to re-apply for it or did I retain it and now have dual citizenship?

  15. Hi there! I recently became a US Citizen. I know that Philippines is one of the countries that allows their citizens to hold dual citizenship. I was wondering if I need to do anything special like apply for Dual Citizenship or call the nearest Philippine Consulate? Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

    Thanks,

    Ann
