  1. So I got my NoA saying my conditional status has been extended for 1 year and my biometrics appointment letter, which says I can attend on any Wednesday at the same time - up until a certain date, of course.

Now, I'm going on vacation soon and there's a chance (upon my return) I'll be coming back into the US after the expiration date on my green card. Do I just need to take my NoA notice with me which states I've been given another year? Is this all the proof they need?

Also, do I have to go and get the biometrics done before I travel? Ideally, I'd like to go and do it after I get back from vacation (I'm really busy at work right now) but I'm worried I won't be able to get back into the US :)

    Thanks, oh wise ones ;)

I traveled out of the country twice with the expired green card and the 1 year extension NOA. Just bring the NOA with you. No idea about the biometrics because I didn't have to do it for my removing condition petition.

    Have a safe trip :)

  2. Yes, the NOA (Notice of Action) is the I-797.

I am wonder. I was filing I751 to Nebraska Ctr since June and only get a NOA for greencard extension but not the biometrics. I'm also living around Seattle area. My question is when you first do the Biometrics for condition green card (2 years), Was it digital scan? I'm totally surprise people who file after me get a biometric. Some get the NOA for interview or approval.

Hello Nancy, I’m also in the Seattle area.. Wonderful black out we just had: angry: .. Anyway, My wife had her biometrics scheduled for the 12.14.06 but missed that date and got it done yesterday 12.20.06 I'm not sure why you didn't receive a letter for your biometrics? I think my wife originally didn't have digital pictures or finger prints if I'm not mistaken.. (2 years ago) but, she did have them digitally done this time around... Did you have digital finger printing and picture taken done in the past?

    Hi Xbox,

Belived it or not but we saved from the black out last week  . Our house was a shelter for lots of friends. Anyway, I just received my 10 years GC in the mail this evening and yes, I did have digital finger printing done for my conditional GC (2 years ago). I guess that's why I don't received the NOA for biometrics again :) .

  3. After 6 months and 2 weeks. I got my 10 years GC without biometric and interview. Here's my timeline for I-751.

June 5 - Send out I-751 with all evidences to Nebrasca Service Center.

June 8 - Received I-797 (NOA) with a 1 year extension on my condition GC. Date on NOA is June 6

June 27- Received purple letter (remind you to sent all necessary documents if you're not already sent it with the I-751)

I didn't heard anything else after the received purple letter but today (Dec 21), I received my 10 years GC! So happy.

I guess I don't have to do the biometric again because the first biometrice i did for my condition GC was a digital scan and USCIS must use that to process my 10 years GC.

So if you're in the same situation, hang in there. I will apply for citizenship this May. Hopefully it will be this smooth. :)

    Good luck to you all,

    Nancy

  4. Yes, the NOA (Notice of Action) is the I-797.

You will get a Biometrics appointment letter telling you the date and time that you should go to your local office. The letter will also tell you the address of the local office. They do your fingerprints, take your picture and get your signature.

  5. nancy,

It would be more helpful to know what the words in the letter are rather than what color the paper is.

I received the purple letter on June 27 after filed I-751 on June 6 to Nebraska SC. Contents on purple letter are totally confusing. It said something about making a copy of the letter and sent it with the addtional documents. ....

  6. I received the purple letter on June 27 after filed I-751 on June 6 to Nebraska SC. Contents on purple letter are totally confusing. It said something about making a copy of the letter and sent it with the addtional documents. I don't have any addtional documents so I didn't sent anything back to USCIS. I still don't see any NOA for biometric coming and it's been over 6 months now. I call the 1-800 number and they said they can't do anything untill the processing date on website pass June 6.... totally confuse cause on the purple letter said I should contact the 1-800 number if it pass 6 months. Where can I get an answer about my case? or Any one has the same experience as I do?

  7. I filed I-751 on May 6, 2006 at NSC. Received a NOA from them couple days after. NOA said extend my PR status for another year but nothing about Biometric.

Received another letter in July 14, 2006. Nothing much other than confirmation on documents received. My GC expired Aug 5. It's 6 months already and I try to call USCIS over phone. On hold forever. I will keep trying.

    Anybody's in the same situation?
