One month after I received my K1 visa in Lithuania, I was with my beloved Ammon in the states (I arrived on February 15th 2019). At Seattle, the port of entry, I handed the sealed envelope I got from the US embassy in Lithuania and answered few questions. it was very simple and smooth. After a month, March 7th we had our cozy and nice civil marriage. We started filling out the greencard documents ourselves due to high cost of a lawyer. However, after researching more about the immigration process and how the documents can be denied just because of lack of our knowledge filling documents, we decided to find a lawyer. It was a very good decision and our frustration was gone.
We could hire the lawyer just because they offered a payment system: full price of 2500 (included the lawyer going with us to the green card interview) was divided into payments 300 usd every month. Moreover, a fact worth mentioning was that I did not need to do another health check up here in US. I had one ddne back in December 2018 in Lithuania, so it was still valid. However, I heard that USCIS is changing policies for the health check up. So keep yourself updated or ask your lawyers for legal advice. So together with our lawyer we submitted the documents for the green card in the end of April , I went to have bio metrics in the end of May, have my green card interview in July 15th and on July 22nd I was holding my green card. The process was smooth and way way faster than we thought. The green card interview was short and quite simple. The most most important thing is do not lie about anything. For instance, in April I have started work on the farm for summer season. At that time I did not have my work authorization or a green card, but for a person married with US citizen working without a permit is forgiven they say. So I just told them openly and there were no problem. But it's always good to discuss the lawyer about your concerns.
