Your note didn't say how big of a family you have to support under federal poverty guidelines. You can easily see what the rates are at the following web site.

Hello,
When the wife got her green card, they got the numbers wrong on the card. She simply called them and it took six or seven months to finally correct the typo and resend a new corrected green card. The interview was approved on record, so a green card typo isn't a big deal. I'm sure they can send you another one, and probably less time than what we had to wait.
The time period you have to wait before you can apply for citizenship is three years from the date on your green card. Congrats on the approval part.

Better tax planning might be in order. We haven't got around to citizenship yet. I'm in no hurry.

We will pray for you although I think you will be fine.

Congrats on your visa journey.

The hardest part for us was the "WAIT" period. It took a lot of patience for us, but somehow we got through it.
Congrats on beginning your visa journey.

Congrats, well done.

Agree, it means someone has opened your file. However, it could also mean your file will soon be processed. I recall my file being touched after a long wait period. So, a touch was welcome news as oposed to nothing at all. B)

Not having all the documents necessary can happen. (No big deal). A quick response when the RFE arrives should take of things.

When a K-3 is denied, the exact reason is given. (No guess work involved). An age difference would not be reason enough for a denial.

Try this free referral service who could help you choose from many attorneys in your area.
Good luck

You really haven't said, but it may depend on what type of corrections you are talking about. Clerical errors or a wrong date wouldn't be a problem or cause delays. I could think of a couple serious corrections that might cause a red flag or two. (criminal record, intentional (lies) errors on an application, etc).

Agree with the other replies, the divorce date must be finalized. When we did our 129F, I had a certified copy of the divorce and it was finalized. It's best to fill out this form properly the first time so there is NO delays. Having a well completed 129F at the start will mean a quick approval so make sure you have all documents in order.

The grumpy inspector can happen. It seems like there would be more information on being denied entry. I don't see a problem if that's all it was. A problem would be something illegal, deported, or similar acts.

We considered hiring an attorney but learned it wasn't needed. Those who have all their paper work or docs in order usually do well. Those who have complicated problems, an attorney would be helpful.

Thanks for the help.
We need a good vacation.

My wife received her green card and I would like to take her on a vacation in Canada for two weeks. Is there any documents I need to apply for with the INS? I wouldn't want the wife to have any complications in returning to the states. Currently she has permanent residence status via her GC. Her passport is from Romania that has all the approvals to be in USA. I was thinking she might need to file a travel permit or something. Let me know...thanks.

Can you please share what your timeline was like? Someone (from the NVC office of course) told me that Detroit was currently taking 6-7 months for processing of I485s. Is this realistic? After I file AOS from a K3, can I expect to be done with the process in that amount of time (granted there are no RFEs or other delays of course...I am just looking for a average time).
And it looks like they are taking 90 days for EAD...am I right?
Thanks for sharing.
We went through Detroit, and found them helpful amidst the INS paper work. The biggest wait comes from INS, going through Detroit was without problems.

Some applications are so well done and complete that an interview is not always needed. Congrats.
