  1. Hello All -

I woke up to following email this morning:

On June 1, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

My wife and I didn't have an interview...I'm guessing all the docs I sent in did the trick :=)

I hope this is the end for now...till next year and N400!!!!!

  2. WOW...this is insane. I would drop EVERYTHING and move VERY VERY VERY far away.

I hate to hear these types of problems for young couples. in a situation like this its best to stick with your guy and for him to always back you up when needed. it will take two people to survive this ordeal.

    Good Luck

Well I have just about had enough of trying to be the better and bigger person.

Since I have come here, I have put up with my mother in law and her partner charging my husband and I with 2009 IRS business gas rates for rides taken with them from November till December until we finally got a car of our own in Jan 2010 (he had just moved to this state and had to leave his old car behind). Instead of just paying for gas as a sign of good faith like normal people would, they insisted we count our miles and times it by the IRS business rate of 55 cents per mile. Silly me, I thought getting our own car would lessen problems with them. It didnt. Apparently proximity did not put an end to her partner's imaginative drama.

Prior to this, I have put up with my mother in law's partner insisting we pay for our share of thanksgiving dinner in cash since apparently bringing over a dish as pot luck was not good enough. I have put up with her partner accusing me of giving dirty looks at them when I barely even recognized them in the dark. I have put up with her partner accusing me of leaning away from their son in the car when he was crying cause supposedly leaning away means I hate him. My husband has been accused by her partner of treating their son like a dog because he was hiding my bag under his coat from their son so he doesnt drool all over it.

After we got the car, we thought hey, the partner is the problem, so inviting mother in law over for dinner and being the bigger person is a good idea so my husband can maintain good healthy relationship with her away from the poison of her partner. No, apparently it was a bad idea cause the partner found a way to complain about it saying my mother in law 'reeked of asian food' after she got back from dinner with us and made her wash her coat to prove a point on how disgusting it was which resulted in my mother in law telling my husband to get air fresheners, which we already have. If you come over to eat asian food, expecting asian food and commenting later that it was great and thanking us for it, you do not turn around the next day and mention your partner thought you reeked and insult our home and hospitality by saying our home stinks (which is doesnt).

So now the partner has influenced my mother in law to accuse me of identity theft because apparently having his mom as a co-sponsor and knowing her social security number and having a yahoo email address allows me to hack into their bank account, make a new account and somehow magically withdraw 888,888.88 bucks from it. So the hacker person put in a yahoo email address, and since I have a yahoo email address apparently that makes me a suspect. And apparently since I am home alone all day and bored, this apparently makes me small and petty enough to get back at the partner by hacking into their account and doing all these things (So I guess inviting her over for dinner wasnt proof enough of me being the bigger person since we brought no money up at all after being harassed and extorted for gas money. We even had to pay them gas to drive us to the courthouse to get married). Only petty people can imagine other people to be as petty as them.

I mean I expected some crazy stuff to happen because I knew the partner would not stop until things became ugly because drama seems to be a craving of some sort and people like this just do not stop. I did NOT expect something as crazy as this to happen, this is beyond ridiculous I dont even have words for it. At this point, I do not put it past them to do more crazy things. What do I do if they decide to sue me for identity theft based on those arguments? What do I do if they call the feds on me? We are mailing the AOS forms tomorrow and my I-94 expired in Feb this year, about a month. If it had not been expired, I would have lodged a police report or something to protect myself against this craziness.

What can I do to protect myself? We are going to move as soon as we can financially, away from this insanity. It wont happen anytime soon since we are leased for another 7 months. I have only been here for 4 months and this much can happen. I dont know what can possibly be conjured up in another 7 months. I'll probably be accused of murder next.

And fyi, mother in law seems to think everything is okay and it is okay to do all these things. Sorry, but to me, family values are not this way at all. This is foreign to me and completely inhumane.

  3. Thanks kimberly and everyone who relied.

I called IRS...they just faxed me over 2008 + 2009 return.....how cool is that. nice to know that they have modernized...digital copy would be even greater but this is better than waiting 5 days for snaaail mail!

faxed copy should be sufficient right? should i still send a copy of MY return along with the transcripts ?

I just called a few weeks ago and got mine mailed to me free of charge no questions asked. I did not need to fill out any forms. I called, explained that I needed tax transcipts from the IRS for 2007, 2008, 2009, why I need them and the guys said he would have them out in that days mail, which he did.

Here is the number from their website, I think this is the one I used, like I saidI called a few weeks ago.

    Telephone Assistance for Individuals:

    Toll-Free, 1-800-829-1040

Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. your local time (Alaska & Hawaii follow Pacific Time).

  4. Not exactly what i was asking.

to clarify: do we need to send the standard 2-picture (like you do for K3, CR1, AOS processes) for this process.

the picture is usually used for the green card.

i guess i will just send 2 and let them decide if they want it or not.

Hi there. all what u need to do is, to go to the post office and tell them u want photos for the immigration, because they know what immigration wants exactly. for sure they know otherwise where we going to apply for the U.S passports lol

    Good Luck :)

  6. My wife completed the Adjustment of Status (AOS) process back in MAY/JUNE 2008 and was granted a green card.

We cannot remember if we handed over the I-94 card or if it was given back to us - we cannot find it at the moment.

Do we still need this card? We have to file for Removal of Conditions in 2 years - do we need the I-94 for that process?

Also, we plan on doing some traveling next year; does she have to present that card when we re-enter the US.

I have a feeling that the Green Card and passport should be sufficient but I want to be sure.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

    Damian

  8. Well we had our AOS interview today at Garden City, Long Island (NY). We waited for about 45 minutes for our name to be called for the interview. The person who interviewed us was VERY friendly and courteous. He didn’t ask too many questions….well I’ll just get to it: WE ARE APPROVED.

Below is a little summary of our interview process.

    My Questions:

    1. What is your wife’s name

    2. What is her Date of Birthday

    3. What you like about her

    4. What don’t you like about her?

    Questions for my Wife:

    1. What is your husband’s name

    2. What is your address

    3. What is your husband DOB….she actually answered this one wrong but I don’t think the guy caught it…lol

    4. What do you like about your husband?

    5. What don’t you like/ what annoys you?

    6. Why do you want to stay in America?

He then asked to see some pictures…we had 4 albums. We browsed through them very quickly. He then asked for all the required paper work.

    I submitted:

    1. The I-864 packet with signed form, job letter, copy of 2007 tax Return with W2, Bank statement, 3 months’ pay stub and 401K statement.

    2. Evidence packet: bank statement, copy of car insurance statement, Health Statement from my employer, some ‘beneficiary’ letters.

He also took 1 picture with both of us for the File.

We were then told to wait for 45 minutes to receive the passport. 45 minutes later we received the passport. It had the 551 stamp inside valid for 1 year and a letter about what the next step is (the Removal of Conditions).

Finally we were told to expect the Green Card within 5-6 weeks!!!!

Quick Question: We did not get back the I-94 Card…is that normal? We kept the EAD card.

NO MORE USCIS till March 2010. YEAH!

Thanks to everyone who helped us out. I wish everyone good luck.

  9. We have the same issue when i tried to add my wife to my Chase acct. Then banker said that the SSN# wasn't showing up in their database....so we told her that the SSN was only issued 7 days earlier. I was still able to add her to the account: the banker took her SSN Card, photo copied it and did some other processing (what i dont know). I had the same problem with my other Account too.

  10. great! thanks for the info

Remember the NOA2 for K1/K3 was the approval notice. The AOS approval comes only after the interview (or being transferred and approved at a Service Center). So none of us got the NOA2 first. There are also no updates on the website when the interview is scheduled - strange, but true!

When the EAD is approved you'll get the email and update online, not until then. Good luck with your interview and fast EAD approval!

  11. We received a letter today from USCIS and to our surprise: it’s the AOS interview letter. What’s strange is that I didn’t receive any updates via the USCIS website or even the NOA2. Do you get a NOA2 for the AOS process? We’re not complaining…I’m just very surprised to get an interview so quick.

What is ALSO strange is that we didn’t hear anything about our EAD application....What’s going on here?!?!

  12. I also used Dr L E Arnold. i called up the office, let a message. they call me back within a few hours. I mailed my wife's med. records with a $20 check and got everything back within 3-4 days. We filed for AOS with no problems.................yet! I was told that if we're missing anything, the office will call and let us know. Dr. Arnold's office was great!

FYI: Most of the Civil Surgeons just want to make money. I called a few offices in NYC: $250 on average with the usual 'It could be more if your wife needs additional shots'

Dr L E Arnold: $20 and that includes Priority Mail return.

  13. Just a heads up: prepare of Admin Review AGAIN in Guyana. This is very normal for Guyana because they rarely grant the Visa's the SAME day especially if you are young and haven’t been married for a long time.

My wife on was Admin Review (pretty much the same as Admin Processing) for almost 5 months.

What do they do during Admin Review?

Well, lots of things. i know for sure that they do home investigations. They go around your spouse's neighborhood and interview her neighbors. They ask lots of questions like 'do you know this couple. Have you ever seen them together? Did they have a wedding? Etc' they even ask about your in-laws.

My advice is NOT to annoy the embassy because that will certainly delay your process.

Just hang in there…its not easy but its part of the process. You must understand that a lot of ##@$ has happened in Guyana. Lots of fraud and corruption so getting approved in/out of Guyana is difficult.

    Hi All,

Today i called the NVC, spoke with an operator who now tells me that my case has not completed "administrative processing". I ask is this a normal process or is something wrong with my case. He says nothing wrong this is usual. I asked why is he the first operator to mention this, why have all previous persons said, wait 4-6, then 6- 8 then 8-10 weeks.

He says he is not sure.

Please somebody explain this to me. I email the NVC a few weeks ago and got this response,

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

This petition is now eligible for further processing. The petitioner,

beneficiary, and/or attorney of record will receive further instructions

regarding the processing of this petition.

    Regards,

    National Visa Center

    TAD

    Please help,

    Regards

  14. Congratulations :dance::):dance:

    Hey everyone,

Ok I'm still too excited to talk but my hubby just called me and he got approved. They told him to go back on Wednesday to pick up the visa.

    I can't believe this, it's like a dream. :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thank you all for being such a great support.

I haven't gotten the details yet but as soon as I do I'll post them to let everyone know of the questions.

lots of love and God bless

    albden :)

Well i called Social Security today and after 20 minutes of trying to figure out how to speak to a human, i finally got my answers: We can only get an SSN if Work Authorization, even for temporary, was given at POE, which it wasn’t. I know many of you have reiterate the same thing in your response but I just wanted to be sure.

I wanted the SSN# for my wife so that she can get a driver's permit, get started in building credit, etc…TO WORK was not the primary objective. I guess we'll have to start the second phase now. I wasn’t planning on applying for EAD since work authorization is given ultimately when you get the green card (correct me on this if I'm wrong, please) but I may have think this idea over.

Thanks for all your help…much appreciated!

    Hey Guys:

I need your help: My wife just arrived home via JFK yesterday evening. She came on a K3 Visa. I was looking into the next steps we have to take and I notice something about I-94 form. We don't have this form. She said she filled something out at the custom officer's desk but was never given anything back.

So my question is this: do you get the I-94 when you come via K3?

    Please help!

    Thanks in advance.

EAD is pretty much guaranteed to be available within 90 days of filing but green card approvals can get hung up for a long time. Since there's no fee for EAD, I'd definitely file the application for it as insurance. With EAD, she can get an SSN and all that does for you, whether the green card comes fast or slow.

you have an excellent point....i'll start the entire process in a few days. i already have all the necessary docs

  17. I check the SS office. this is what they require to apply for a card:

    http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10002.html#how

Citizenship or immigration status: We can accept only certain documents as proof of U.S. citizenship. These include a U.S. birth certificate, U.S. consular report of birth, U.S. passport, Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship. If you are not a U.S. citizen, Social Security will ask to see your current U.S. immigration documents. Acceptable documents include your:

    * Form I-551 (includes machine-readable immigrant visa with your unexpired foreign passport);

    * I-94 with your unexpired foreign passport; or

    * Work permit card from the Department of Homeland Security (I-766 or I-688B).

My State's DMV requires you to have SSN # now...

Please let me know if i can use what we have

LOL. That's funny. I figured she had it on her someplace!

My husband actually watched the CBP officer throw his I94 in the trash can. He said my husband didn't need it. I was at another counter at the time and didn't realize what was up.

YES YOU NEED IT. Hang onto it for her adjustment of status. You'll need to send a copy of it to USCIS when you file.

I'd staple it into her passport. That's where it should have gone in the first place.

OK...well i feel silly. The dear wife found that little form...it was at the bottom on her purse lol

Can we use it for anything? We're not interested in employment for now. I wanted her to learn how to drive so a Driver's Permit will be in order. What about SSN #?

Thanks for all your help guys.

  19. I'm speaking specially about the Work Authorization portion that you are suppose to receive (i assume as a stamp in your passport)

Do you actually have to REQUEST the I-94 or is it given automatically??????????

She doesn't have that card. She remembered completing the form and handing it to the CO but he didn't return anything back to her. I called JFK CBP and they said to call tomorrow to find out how we can get a replacement I-94.

    Thanks for your help!

Well, my husband didn't get his either.

We ended up going back to the last airport he passed through on 'entry day' (his actual POE was two airports before that one) and they issued a 'replacement' I-94.

My wife and daughter's I-94's had non-existant dates (August 39, 2006) so we had them replaced by the CBP supervisor at the nearest International Airport.

I-94 is given to all NON-Immigrant passengers carrying a visa on international flights to fill out before seeing the officer at POE.
