  1. The first time around, I only sent the I-864 along with an employment letter and copies of my w-2's from the previous tax year. This wasn't enough as I received a request for more evidence.

After reading through VJ more thoroughly, I noticed I needed to send tax transcripts. I requested tax transcripts from the previous year and resent to the nvc another I-864, employment letter, the tax transcripts, and original paystubs for the last month. It was then accepted as sufficient about 2 weeks later.

  2. I had a question regarding the ds230 1 & 2 process. I have paid the IV fee and I am ready to send the application along with the documents. I was wondering if I have to write the nvc case number on each document like I had to when I sent the I-864 along with the tax transcripts, employment letter, w-2 forms, etc...?

Also, when I send the original and photocopied documents along with the application, since the nvc will have it my son (beneficiary) will not need to bring it to the interview since they will already have it? I'm talking about documents such as birth and police certificates, copy of passport, passport size photos, etc.. Thanks again.

    Hi,

Yes you should write the case number on each piece of paper. For originals (like the birth certificate) you should not, you can use a post it on them if you like.

For your second question, yes, they will have all of your paperwork at the consulate and they should return applicable originals at that point as well (ie the birth certificate - but not the police certificate).

    Thanks for the info!

  4. Can someone please help me understand the process behind how the dates move? I live in the US and am petitioning for my son unmarried over 21. For awhile last year it was moving one month ahead of time. Now, every month sometimes it doesn't move and lately it has moved only 2 weeks at a time. What is the deal? I'd appreciate any input.

  5. Hello all. I'm fairly new to Visajourney, so bear with me. I just had a question in regards to the Visa Bulletin. A little background, I had an I-130 approved at the CSC last summer for my adult son over 21 It was then sent to NVC and assigned a nvc number. I've been tracking the rate of the visa bulletin as in our case we have to wait for an available visa number.

For six months or so, it was going very fast, it was always ahead one month ahead of the date that I was checking on it. But, now for the past three months it has stagnated and not moved. I'm kind of getting anxious because it is now in the same year as my priority date. Its so close yet so far. Can anyone explain the cut off date of this visa bulletin business? I would appreciate any responses. Thanks.

First: When did you file for him? Second: Is he married? Third: Are you a American Citizen.

The dates according to the visa bulletin are moving very slowly at this time for FB1, FB3 and FB4. No one knows exactly when the dates will move forward (quickly) again. If his priority date is being current the NVC will hold his file until when it is close to become current.

Yes, I am an American citizen, my son is not married, and I filed for him in Dec. 2002. According to the Visa Bulletin, they are working on our category at Feb. 2002. Anyway, Hopefully they'll work through the cases at a faster rate so we can get things moving along. Thanks!

  7. Hello everyone. I'd just like to say VJ is a very helpful site for those involved in the immigration process.

Anyway, I am a naturalized US citizen and I filed an I-130 for my unmarried son over 21 back in December 2002 to the Texas Service Center. They then transferred it to the California Service Center about three months. A couple of days ago, I got this email and am confused as to what is going on. Does this mean that it has reached an immigration officer? Thanks, take care everyone.
