Hello All,At 3:30 PM Bangkok time, Joy recieved her K-1 Visa. Thank you all to those who listened. Now begins a new Journey of Marriage and a new life. This was the most difficult thing I have every done. I have lived through tragedy and death but the not knowing for such a long time was the hardest part. Now I have a new lease on life and I intend on making the best of it.

We just came back from the interview: APROVED!!!
Our appointment was at 7:45 a.m. in San Francisco. We arrive at 7:55 a.m. and were done and out of the building by 8:30 a.m. This was, so far, the easiest step of all process. It took us longer to go through metal detector check then the whole interview. The officer asked us how we met and just look at our pictures. "Sign here", "temporary green card will arrive in a few weeks", "don't forget to apply for permanent card 30 days before May 6, 2010", "can apply for the Citizenship 3 years from now".

I will be sending my pay checks and tax return just like when we were getting her K-1 vise. They didn't have any problems then. I guess because my income is well above federal povery limits. Here in San Francisco Bay Area my income IS at the poverty level.
not sure about K visa's when they adjust status, but we had to send pass 3 years worth of tax returns. otherwise looks good, -

What a roller coaster few days........it is almost 4 AM here in California.Well, good news!!
Martin from the Farang Connection in Surin made it out to my fiancee's village and all is well. Her father came back from Cambodia yesterday and my fiancee is due back today.
I actually got a phone call from her and we talked for almost an hour. Her cell phone was stolen while in Cambodia, no surprise there, I had bought her some high end Nokia when we were living in the Philippines last year and I guess some thief saw it and just had to have it. She bought a new one as soon as she got across the border as well as a new sim card. Good thing she had written down my phone numbers!!
All is good in SqdnGuns world now....too bad I have to go to work in a few hours, I haven't even slept yet.

Glad that you were finally able to get a hold of your fiancee. I had a similar problem last year. Believe me, I know how you must have felt.
Does anyone know if a document is needed to indicate if your fiancee is single? Mine has been divorced and we submitted the divorce papers already with our I-129F package. I have read posts on here that you need this document only if your fiancee has never been married. Some say this document was never asked for at the interview.
I spoke with a Thai friend of mine today who came to the US on a K3 visa. She had been divorced and had submitted the divorce papers when she filed her I-130 paperwork. She said when she went to her interview, they told her she needed to submit a document saying she was not married. She said she went to a government office in BKK to obtain this document.
Strange but I thought divorce papers were proof you were not married.
Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Every time I return from BKK to SFO they send me to a special deck for thorough interview: where did you go, how long, etc, etc, etc. I am always carrying my photos, applications, and other documents to support my story.
My wife had no problems with the immigration folks at SFO. Maybe they took pity on her as she had a 2-year old in tow in addition to all her luggage.Yodrak
Be prepared and pack your visa-savvy and a strong, confident attitude. SFO can be a bunch of bastards. I'm sure they are fine when you have the right information, but just make sure all ducks are in a row first. -
I am not sure this the right forum but...
With the K1 visa approved and final move to California scheduled for the end of the months I am looking for any final advice.
We will be entering in San Francisco. Is there any documents, translations, etc. will be helpful to expedite the next steps: SSN, ability to work and travel etc.
Any ideas, guides are greatly appreciated.

In our case interview was on Monday and we were told to pick up visa on Wed 3:00 pm.
Our interview date was posted on the website today. Wasn't as soon as we had hoped, but it sure is nice to be able to know when we will be going back to the US. -
We brought house registration and English translation. It was return right away by the lady at window 5 who checks all the documents filled properly.
Kang Lang,No, it is not. The thabiian baan, or house registration, is a paper or booklet that associates a person with a specific address and household. Whether or not the person actually lives there. A child will be put on the house registration of their parents, and may still be registered to their parent's household years later after becoming an adult and having moved to Bangkok or elsewhere for work. (In an atypical reversal of that, my wife and her son are registered at a shophouse that she owns, even though she had moved back to live with her parent's and was renting out her shophouse.)
A Thai must vote in the amphur where they are on a thabiian baan, so in that sense it serves as voter registration. I don't know what else it might be used for. Certainly not for keeping track of where the citizenry lives, since as I said many Thais don't live where they are registered.

It was very uneventful interview in Bangkok. Arrived at 6:30 am. Got inside at 6:45 am. Guard does not allow to bring cell phones or laptops inside. Submitted paperwork to window #5. Sit and wait till 10 am. A lot of people inside applying for a variety of visas. Only one clerk appeared to be working on K1/3 visas. There were 2 couples with kids and one single woman. At least one couple got the visa, the rest I could not tell. Interviewer spoke broken Thai. My fiancé had a hard time understanding his questions. Her English is way better then his Thai. I have no idea why didn’t he just ask her in English. Questions: How did you meet your fiancé? Where did you meet your fiancé? How many times your fiancé visited Thailand? Where does he lives? He asked me some meaningless questions and it was over. Oh yes, he fingerprinted my fiancé as well. “Return to pick up visa day after tomorrow at 3 p.m.”
Over all, besides a 3 hour wait and interviewers bad Thai, it everything went very smooth. I am so glad it is over.
