SO WHICH CARD DO YOU USE FOR CUBA? i WENT TO: http://www.phonecardsmile.com/?rf=1034 BUT THERE ARE DIFFFERENT CARDS. WHICH ONE DO YOU THINK IS BEST. MY PHONE BILL IS ABOUT $400-$600 A MONTH :-( SO... I NEED HELP!!
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS UP!
YAMEY.
I've been googling trying to find a replacement for the service I'd been using.. While the rate was great .119 per min to a Moldova Cell the service sucked.. and even to the point I couldn't use it..So I found this in my 2-3 day quest to find a replacement.. I found it yesterday but I wanted to wait until I tried it to post the info on it.. Why I wanted to wait was because of the rate to Moldova was the best rate by 100% less then the others I found.. it was .0216 per min. that's 465min for $10 or 930 min. for $20 my avg. calls per month is 1150 min.. so my cost just dropped from avg. $150 a month to about $25 .. Even the cell rate was well below my other co. at .0617 per min.. Now they have a weird way of displaying the min's they take it out to the last digits.. kind of threw me off at first... so instead of saying 500 min. they say 4996 but if you do the math at the cost per min. you'll see what they did..Well any long story short ..I'm saving $125 per month in my calls.. I hope this helps some of you to keep in touch with your love ones more...

Have you tried going back to the embassy and explaining the situation to them. I have read something about this on one of the USCIS sites but can't find the link right now. It said something to the affect if the beneficiary cannot execute the visa within the defined time limit the embassy can re-issue the visa for an additional six months. I hope, for your sake, this is possible. Good luck
I'LL LET HER KNOW MAYBE SHE SHOULD FLY TO CUBA AND GO TO THE HAVANA EMBASSY WHERE ALL HER CUBAN FIANCE'S PAPERWORK WAS FIILED AND THE VISA WAS GRANTED. MAYBE THAT WILL HELP. I DOUBT SHE'LL BE ABLE TO GO THOUGH BECAUSE US LIMITS VISITS FOR AMERICANS SO SHE'S KING OF POOPED OUT OF LUCK ON THAT END. :-(

Has the US citizen requested any assistance from Congressperson or Senator? If not, I would certainly start there so that they can check on the status with Washington before beginning again - especially since they mention as recently as October that they should be hearing something about their status.
I have read of situations where the Embassy has extended the K-1 for various reasons, but I believe it's up to their discretion on whether to do so.
AFTER READING YOUR RESPONSE I CALLED MY FRIEND IN NEVADA, SHE IMMEDIATELY PREPARED A LETTER FOR A CONGRESSPERSON SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVES, SO I HOPE THAT HELPS! SHE'LL BE SENDING IT OFF TODAY.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUGGESTION. WE SINCERELY APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU.

I believe they need to start again, the original visa has expired so they need a new one.
OH MAN .. THAT WOULD BE A BUMMER!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE YOUR IDEAS, AND SUGGESTIONS. :-)

HELLO EVERYONE. I AM SO SAD. MY FRIEND JUST CALLED ME FROM NEVADA TO INFORM ME THAT THE K-1 VISA THAT WAS APPROVED AND GIVEN TO HER CUBAN FIANCE (WHO IS STILL IN CUBA) HAS EXPIRED.
HERE'S THE WHOLE STORY: HOPEFULLY SOMEONE CAN HELP ME GUIDE HER AND HER FIANCE. PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE EVEN IF IT'S JUST A LITTLE, I SINCERELY BEG YOU TO SHARE IT.
I TOLD HER TO EMAIL THE NVC IMMEDIATELY, SO THIS IS WHAT SHE JUST SENT THEM:
Dear Sir/Madam:
My I129F fiance visa petition approval was sent to the US Consulate in Havana Cuba, long ago.
My fiance had his interview at the Havana Cuba US Consulate's office and was approved.
Since he worked in one of the branches of the credit and commerce section in a Bank in Cuba he had to request to be released from The Ministry of The Central Bank of Cuba.
He was released, but unfortunately this process of release took about 6 additional months therefore I sadly express that his VISA became expired. When we communicated this to the US Consulate in Havana to attempt to renovate the expired VISA they explained that they would contact my fiance soon since our case had been sent to Washington to be processed again for my fiance to be granted a new VISA. The US Consulate office in Havana called my fiance in October of 2006 to let him know that they were still waiting for a response from Washington. They asked him to be ready for their call since they would be calling him as soon as they received his paperwork from Washington, but he still hasn't heard from them.
I write you with the most sincere heart and in search of guidance. Please guide us in regards to what our next step should be in order for my fiance to be granted a new VISA. You are our last hope. We have called the Havana Cuba US Consulate but they explain they are still waiting on Washington to send the paperwork over to them so that a new VISA may be granted.
From the bottom of our hearts we sincerely ask that you guide us in the right direction. You may contact any of us at any time of the day or night. Thank you. Here is our contact information: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't know whether to feel relieved or disappointed. After being told that there were "no interivew appointments available at this time" I'm glad that we were given an interview date but it's not until March 8 and of course we were hoping it would be sooner. I think the hardest part isn't waiting for him but waiting without knowing for sure that his visa will be approved. There is no reason he should be denied but of course you never know, and then there's the Cuban side.... I am truly grateful that things have gone so quickly till now. Just tired of worrying and waiting all the time.
--------------------------------------------
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU THAT YOU GOT YOUR APPOINTMENT, THOUGH I WISH YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT EARLIER.
I JUST WENT THROUGH THE HAVANA US CONSULATE'S WEBSITE TO REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT AND IT WAS EMAILED TO ME JUST MINUTES AFTER. THEY GAVE US THE INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT FOR MARCH 29, 2007. I CALLED MY FIANCE ALREADY AND INFORMED HIM. I HAVE ASKED HIM TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME WITH HIS FAMILY AND ENJOY THEM TO THE MAX, BECAUSE ONCE HE GETS HERE (THOUGH IT'LL BE A WHILE YET) WE WON'T BE ABLE TO VISIT FOR A WHILE!!!!! ANYHOW, PLEASE ONCE YOUR FIANCE HAS THE INTERVIEW, UPDATE US! I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR STORY AND OTHERS GOING THROUGH MY SAME PROCESS WITH A CUBAN FIANCE AND IT HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT... I DON'T FEEL ALONE! FINDING THIS FORUM HAS BEEN A BLESSING FOR ME. I THANK YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO SHARES THEIR EXPERIENCES ON HERE.
OH... I AM THINKING OF GOING TO CUBA ON THE 29TH OF MARCH SO THAT I CAN ACOMPANY MY FIANCE TO HIS INTERVIEW, DOES ANYONE THINK I SHOULD DO OTHERWISE.
I WANT TO GO FOR TWO REASONS:
1- I MIS HIM AND MY FAMILY IN CUBA SINCE I HAVEN'T SEEN THEM SINCE MARCH OF 2005.
2- I WOULD LOVE TO BE AT THE INTERVIEW TOO; JUST TO EXPERIENCE IT TOGETHER.
THANK YOU.
YAMEY.

Guys, calling Cuba is so expensive that we just talk about 1 hour every 2 to 3 weeks. We remind each other of how expensive the calls are and how it is more imporant to save money for our future plans than to spend them on these calls. We remind each other we love each other and that our love is way beyond and will make it through anything, including .. this of not being able to speak on a daily basis. We both have a lot of faith.
Once again though I must repeat... coÑo!!! Cuba is expensive to call! My last phone bill was $400.00 USD. :-) I talked for about 5 hours in that month!!! JAJA!!! gotta laugh or I go crazy.
Yamey.
Oh goodness! Wouldn't it be ultimately cheaper to get an internet connection? I don't know if that is possible where your fiance is, but using Skype could make a big difference.
Maybe I am just being naive here though. There's definitely a lot I don't know about telecommunications with Cuba...
WELL, IN OUR TOWN THERE IS NO INTERNET ACCESS. AS A MATTER OF FACT WHERE WE ARE FROM (I SAY WE, BECAUSE I WAS BORN THERE, THOUGH NOW I'M A US CITIZEN)...THERE ARE HARDLY PHONES. WHENEVER I CALL HIM, I CALL MY AUNTS HOUSE AND SHE RUNS ACROSS THE STREET WITH THE WIRELESS PHONE I GOT HER AND HANDS IT TO HIM. I'M LUCKY HE LIVES ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY AUNT'S HOUSE OTHERWISE WE'D REALLY BE IN TROUBLE... BECAUSE GURLLL I WRITE LETTERS AND THEY DON'T EVEN GET THERE, SAME WITH HIM WRITING ME LETTERS. IT IS SO DIFFICULT. YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW MANY PICTURES AND LETTERS HAVE GOTTEN LOST OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS. ANYHOW, YEAH CUBA IS A PAIN IN THE BOOTIE TO DEAL WITH WHEN IT COMES TO COMMUNICATION. THE ONLY WAY IS CALLING IN BY PHONE AND KEEPING YOUR MONTHLY PHONE BILL FOR FUTURE USE AS PROOF THAT YOU GUYS COMMUNICATED.
OK XOXO TO EVERYONE!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY VJ'S!

peter your info has helped me so much. now i know that they received our package in havana on the 24th of november.
do you know what i should do to get them to give my fiance or myself a date for him to pick up the packet?
any suggestions or guidance would greatly be appreciated. looks like you've gone through this part of things already.
i thank you so much.
also.. does anyone know where i can get the forms that my fiance is supposed to get on package #? i'm getting ready to find that and mail it to him myself. haha. just kiddin' but honestly if anyone has the package i'd love to have it at least to see if there's anything he can already get started on. he's already working on getting his passport and his police records to show he is clean, etc.

Tracking Instructions for DHLwww.dhl.com
Track by Reference
Reference: (Depends on Embassy)
I-730
EXPEDITE NIV SECTION (Maybe Non-Immigrant Visas)
EXPEDITE IV SECTION (Maybe Immigrant Visas)
CORRESPONDENCE
Put the range of dates around the date that NVC gives you as package has been shipped.
And there you have it.
Good luck,

Hello everybody!
My fiance is in Cuba, and I am in USA.
On 10/27/06 I mailed my petition for a fiance visa ( form I-129F and supporting evidence and additional paperwork and pictures, etc. ) to USCIS.
On 11/17/06 I received the I-797 NOTICE OF ACTION letter which confirms the CIS approval on the I-129F petition. In that approval letter they mention now everything would be sent to the NVC which is in Portsmouth, NH, and that the NVC would then notify the USA Consulate that is in Habana Cuba.
This is the exact wording on the letter, and I have several questions I'm hoping someone can help me with:
THE ABOVE PETITION HAS BEEN APPPROVED. WE HAVE SENT THE ORIGINAL VISA PETITION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE NATIONAL VISA CENTER (NVC), PORTSMOUTH, NH. THE INS HAS COMPLETED ALL ACTION, FURTHER INQUIRIES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE NVC.
THE NVC NOW PROCESSES ALL APPROVED FIANCE(E) PETITIONS. THE NVC PROCESSING SHOULD BE COMPLETE WITHIN TWO TO FOUR WEEKS AFTER RECEIVING THE PETITION FROM INS. THE NVC WILL CREATE A CASE RECORD WITH THE PETITION INFORMATION. NVC WILL THEN SEND THE PETITION TOT HE U.S. EMBASSY OR CONSULATE WHERE YOUR FINACE(E) WILL BE INTERVIEWED FOR HIS OR HER VISA. YOU WILL RECEIVE NOTICE BY MAIL.
Does anyone know how I can contact the NVC office to see if they've received the notice/approval yet from the CIS, or should I just sit back relax and rest assured that the NVC office will get the approval within 4 weeks? If anyone has any tricks, or suggestions, pleaseeeeeeee let me know. (Pretty please).
Also, once NVC sends the notification of approval to US Consulate in Habana, Cuba ; who do I call or where do I go to follow up to assure it arrived?
Also.. once the US Consulate in Habana, Cuba gets the approval, do they contact my fiance or should my fiance contact them to attempt to retrieve the packet he has to get started on?
Also... does anyone have any suggestions on what my fiance should already get started on? He's already getting his passport, getting his criminal background/police records, and school records, i'm mailing him the affidavit via DHL, he's already taken his pictures, and has a copy of his birth certificate. Anything else you can suggest? We're trying to work ahead... though not too far ahead because as you know, some things do expire.
Also... just kidding!!!! I'm just a newbie at all this that's why I'm asking so much. Plus I miss my fiance like crazy. We've been together for 5 years, it wasn't until this year that I got my US Citizenship, so thats why we didn't do this whole petition earlier. Whoever reads this; THANK YOU for taking the time!
