  1. Conditional Green Cards are valid for 2 years. You can file for removal of conditions 90 days prior to the 2 year date.

    Congratulations and Good luck

Errr.. That wasn't my question. I know that the cards are valid for 2 years and I have to file for removal of conditions 90 days before it expires. :P

My question was that I got approved on 05/24/07 (date of interview), but on the greencard it says that I've been a resident since 05/24/06 and it expires 05/24/08. I've been in the US since 1999 on an F1 visa. etc etc.

  2. I got my greencard sometime this month- our interview was last month on 5/24/07 and we were approved then (passport stamped etc). I haven't really checked the greencard other than for name etc, but upon closer looking a couple days ago... it says that I have been a resident since 5/24/06 and it expires 5/24/08. I'm wondering if it is correct, or if its a mistake since I'm an F1 student than did the AOS so I've been in the U.S since... 1999. What should I do in this instance? Just take it that it expires in 08, call USCIS (if possible?) about the dates, or??

    Thanks a lot!

    Jasmine and Patrick.

  3. Appointment was at 8.30am today, we got there around 7.45am. There's 5 hour parking (metered per hour) at the side of the building. :) Went in, got a security check and left the letter at the tray. There were quite a few people waiting! A lot of people with naturalization books to study from. heehee.

Saw people getting called in, and we finally got called around 9.10am? Very nice woman called us, and brought us to a room down a hallway. Handed passport and Driver's license to her, and Husband's Driver's license- she checked them and swore us in. We commented that our file was thick, and she said that it was actually quite small compared to a lot of others! lol. We asked why, she said it was because some people file more than once/appeals etc.

Got asked a few questions- date of birth; place of birth; date of wedding; who was there; how we met; where we had the wedding; who were the witnesses etc. She looked at lease, joint bank statements, joint car insurance, and one wedding picture. :D

Asked us if we had the approved EAD/AP with us, but we didn't (only got approval emails a few days ago!). Chatted about how some passports had really weird paper when she looked through my passport for entry stamps (mine was fine though!).

Finally she said I was approved, and said that my security check was also cleared. YAY!. She then stamped the passport and took the I-94. Told us that we didn't need the EAD or AP anymore, and can just use the stamp to show that I can work etc. About the EAD/AP, She told us to mail it in when we got it. Told us about the lifting of conditions in 2 yrs, congradulated us and said that the stamp is valid for 60 days. :D Shook hands, said bye/thanks and that was it! Done at about 9.35am. :D

Quite fun/painless. Phew. Am so glad my AOS was ALOT easier than expected. Now done with USCIS for 2 yrs! yay!!

  4. I want Milo too! And Rose syrup/Bandung... And Ribena!! Tek peng/ Teh tarik too. lol.

I found freezed dried DURIAN when I was looking for asian food online. heehee. But they only sell by case!! Wonder how long it'll take to finish 24 packets of freezed dried durian....

Ephesia!! I found Laksa paste on the site too. :D Again... case of 24. ROFL... Found a few things that I want from the site (its a wholesale company in california) but everything is in bulk. :(

  5. Actually, alot of asian stores sell the roti canai/prata frozen. HEEHEE. that's how I get my fix. :) And i ordered some stuff from the mytasteofasia store a few mths ago. Their ikan billis sambal was like omg, nasi lemak chilli!!! Now i just make coconut rice + fry an egg + slice some cucumbers then add that chilli sauce = instant nasi lemak. haha. (desperation? ;) )

There's a malaysian restaurant not far from me also, about 15 mins drive. Malay satay hut- has a few branches in the NW. Their food is okay la... but think cooking it is a bit more authentic/nicer.

P.S. Dora, added you to msn! :)

  6. Back to the original point, it is not needed, there is a route already - F1 Student Visa.

And that has the advantage of OPT and a potential employer who will take you on and hopefully sponsor you for a GC.

Yep. And F1 students have to pay 3 Times (or more PLUS international student fees..) the in-state tuition when they are legally here. While they're proposing that illegals get In-state? :P Such BS.

  7. Hehe, we both play. We used to belong to the top guild on our server, which meant raids every single night for at least 3-4 hours each night. It was like a 2nd job!!

In the end, we wised up, quit the guild.. now just play as and when we feel like it. Which can still be everyday of course, but err, at least we're not obligated to log on just to raid. :)

We love the game, but people with addictive personalities should REALLY stay away from it, especially since the expansion is coming out and there's even more things to do on the game.

  8. I second the lesson about bringing vaccination records. I just had medical done today (have to go back friday for some followup) and because I didn't have records, I had to get MMR, polio, hepatitis, tetanus shots and a TB test. And a blood draw on Friday + checking the tb test (if positive... hello x-ray) :crying: They would have made me got chicken pox shots too but I had the scars to prove that I had had it. Ouch. I'm covered with lots of garfield bandaids (It was a women and children's clinic). Fortunately the medical fee included shots or else it'd have been even more painful. So yeah. Definitely bring vaccination records. :P

And also, always call around and make sure. I had almost settled on another clinic because the medical was cheaper ($115!) but then when I called to check again, I found out it didn't include vaccination supplement and it would cost an additional $90 + whatever the shots cost!- Could be up to $500 total. The clinic I ended up going to was around the mid-ranges when I first called but definitely ended up the cheapest at $175 for medical + vaccination.

  9. I understand, being asian and all, my parents also didn't want me to get married without them there. But sometimes we all have to make compromises. The compromise we made was that I "eloped" over here with just a simple ceremony with me/him + officiant and 2 witnesses. We'll do the whole formal ceremony when we go back to Asia after everything in the U.S is settled (graduated/AOS or AP approved etc). It kinda sucks not having family and friends when I got married but you can always look forward to the ceremony when its all done. :) Tell your parents they would have more time to plan a more elaborate wedding! *grin*

  10. The I-94 is the arrival/departure record that is placed in your passport when you entered the USA.... it is not a visa... you should have an I-94 if you dont then you will have to put none... but you may well get an RFE of the date you entered on your visa and may have to file for a replacement I-94..

I know what it is. :) I was just asking about the "date it expires" date that the I-130 form wants. There's no date on my I-94 for expiration. There's just an entry date on it.

If you came in on a J-1 visa (not familiar with the other student visas) you came in for 'duration of stay.' They usually write 'd/s' on the I-94. The form is asking for date of expiration for authorised stay. This could be the expiry date of your visa, it has to have been for a predetermined time. That's what I did anyway - put down the date my J-1 expired. Had no problems!

Ahh. yeah. there's a D/S on the I-94. I had thought it was just a signature! There's a date I need to complete my studies by on my I-20 (issued by school). Do you think that's the date I should put there then?

Thank you both for answering by the way. :) Trying to sort through all the forms and your help is greatly appreciated.
